I'm leaving in a little over a week for two weeks of fun in the Florida sun and I'm stoked. This is the first extended vacation that I've taken in over three years (since the last time I went to Disneyworld). It is definitely my "happy place" and I'm not embarrassed to say that if I could only pick one place to vacation at for the rest of my life it would be there.
Just wondering if there are any other Disneyphiles on the board, or if you guys just want to bust on a 38 year old man who loves riding the monorail and getting his picture taken with Goofy?

I know that you're the cruise expert, well I like to think of myself as the Disney expert. PM me if you have any questions. There's definitely a shitload of new stuff since the last time you've been there. We're both dumb enough to be going during peak time. I don't do lines very well - part of my ADD. I refuse to wait on a line longer than 20 minutes - that's why I make good use of the Fast Pass. It's free and lets you do other stuff rather than wait on line. That might be new since the last time you've been. Also, we'll be staying at Universal for three days and if you're a guest there you can by-pass all lines all the time at the Universal Parks - pretty sweet.

I was spoiled as a child so I hate Disney. Ive been there so many times the place bores me to tears. My boss would go to Daytona 500 every year and they made it a point to stop at Disney for at least one day. The last few times it was really just awful.

I think if your a kid and you get the DisneyWorld experience, it stays with you forever, evrytime i think about a vacation spot, the old Magic Kingdom always crosses my mind. I wish i was goin in a couple of weeks like you JS, but maybe in the fall when it's cooler. My chick is totally into it too. What's cool is bummin around the park at night too.

I'm a Disney fan, both in concept and reality. I noticed the last time I was there how fat Americans are.
No, seriously. A good 80 percent of the people there are "high fructose corn syrup and Direct TV" big.

I love Disneyworld - it is one of my favorite places to visit. The last time I was there was 2000, and I know a lot has changed.
I like staying at a Disney resort too - free transportation and total immersion in the experience.
I am partial to Port Orleans (I assume it is still there and not renamed). They run riverboats to Disney Marketplace all evening, which pretty much rules.

Uuuhhhh, more info on this please.
I also saw on a commercial that you can now stay inside Cinderella's Castle. I wonder how many thousands of bucks that costs.

Yep. That's where we're staying and where we always stay. I'd love to mix it up a little and stay at different places but my wife loves it there.

Actually, it's free. They're doing this "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion where they have ambassadors going through the parks giving out "dreams" to random people like passes to the front of lines etc. The big one is a night at this newly constructed suite inside the castle.

Pootertoot and I are big-time Disney fans. Poot's being going as a child for years. I only went twice before Pooter and I started going a least once a year starting in 2002, which was our first vacation together as a couple. Since then we've purchased into Disney's timeshare called Disney Vacation Club. We've also gone on 2 Disney cruises and are heading out to the Mediterranean in 2 days for an 11 night Disney cruise out there. Last year n 7/17/06 we got married in Disney. So yeah we love Disney.
It's not just a place for kids. The Disney resorts have great restaurants with the finest meals I have ever had. One being in California Grill in the Contemporary Resort and the other in Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. They also have Pleasure Island, etc...
So have a great time!!! I know you will!

Just remember....
No alcohol in the Magic Kingdom, But Epcot has Margaritas, German Beer and French Wine...
Epcot's my favorite...
I got loaded in Epcot and hit on the chicks in the Italy section. It was a great vacation!
And when in Orlando, go to Charley's (http://www.charleyssteakhouse.com/) ("This is Charlie") Steakhouse.

I happened to be working on my itinerary as I read the post above, so I will include it here since there seems to be such "overwhelming" demand:
June 22: Leaving the Garden State (We're driving because my wife has refused to fly since 9/11)
June 23: Check in to Port Orleans
June 24: MGM Studios; 1:00pm lunch at the SciFi Diner; 3:00pm Parade; 6:30 pm dinner at Hollywood and Vine (this gives us VIP seating for the 9:00pm Fantasmic Show)
June 25: Epcot; 1:20pm lunch at LeCellier in Cananda; 9:00pm IllumiNations
June 26: Animal Kingdom; 8:30am breakfast at Donald's Breakfastasaurus; 4:00pm Parade
June 27: Magic Kingdom; 1:30pm lunch at Cinderella's Castle; 3:00pm Parade; 9:00pm SpectroMagic Parade; 10:00pm Fireworks
June 28: The kids will be attending a Pirate Cruise on the Seven Seas Lagoon; Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon
June 29: Pool Day
June 30: Check in to Porto Fino Hotel in Universal; Universal Studios
July 1: Islands of Adventure
July 2: Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure
July 3: Kennedy Space Center / Check in to Disney's Vero Beach Resort
July 4-6 Disney's Vero Beach Resort
July 7 Depart the Sunshine State
Yeah, I know, I'm incredibly anal. But you really need to have a gameplan in order to do Disney correctly.

Port Orleans is a cool spot, but it looks like you will need a vacation when you get back. I never considered Disney a vacation, cause there is no relaxing done. You have to include the waterparks in there.. They are really awsome, then you can kinda have a little bit of R&R there.

I know that you've probably all been on pins and needles counting down the days to my eventual return. Well, your long wait is over and I'm finally back, baby! I tried not to harass Minnie Mouse too much, though right after this picture was taken, I throat punched Mr. Incredible and made Elastigirl my bitch.
I'm ready to get back into the grind and looking forward to listening to the buddays live tomorrow.
I had a great time in The Sunshine State. Maybe I had a little too great a time, because two days before we were supposed to leave I tripped on the stairs heading back to the pool from the bar and twisted my ankle REAL bad. It swelled up immediately. As I lay on the ground writhing in pain I looked down and it looked like I had a calzone growing out of my ankle. I went to the hospital in Bumblefuck Vero Beach and they couldn't tell me from the X-rays if it was broken or not. They just gave me a walking boot, even though I can't put any weight on it, and some crutches that are two inches too short for me. So, tomorrow I have to see my own doctor to find out just how bad this is. Even with all that, it was STILL a great vacation. And, I'm still flying pretty high from the pain killers they gave me.
PS: Those of you who might remember my Bronx Johnny/Sextravanganza/backyard neighbors hearing the radio/tripping experience - this is the same ankle I fucked up. But this time I royally scewed it.

My wife just made reservations for Thanksgiving week @ Disney World. We're psyched! Snot tot 1 is bouncing off the walls and Snot tot 2 doesn't realize how long it is until Nov.
We are staying @ the French Quarter. We haven't been there in 3 years. Any tips would be appreciated.

You may joke, but they actually did "finish" it only a couple of months ago. They added Johnny Depp/Capt. Jack Sparrow animatronics throughout the ride, along with Barbosa and Davey Jones character elements from the recent movies. The ride has a whole new ending scene right out of the movie versions.

i went there in 77' my eldest brother had graduated Navy bootcamp and went with my parents and brothers to attend... i remember being excited to get on the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Captain Nemo submarine only to realize once on that only the bottom 3/4's of the sub was ever below water and they had some real cheezy underwater props.
funny thing is my dad took some 8mm film of the cheezy underwater props which now sits on vcr tape... it's kind of cool to look at for memories sake plus he has us walking around the top floor of the WTC's when they were first built on that film
also went to disney for a senior high school trip. i can't remember jack shit about it other than stuff that happened in the hotel rooms. can't remember ever visiting the park. boy were we pissing the nuns off!
