Today, my wife begins her first day of FTO with a city police department. I know that she is perfect for the job and will stay proactive with her fitness and training, and she did very well in the academy, but it still scares me. She was an Animal Reg. Officer for five years previously, so she's got field experience, but the officer involved shootings in Sonoma County have just been through the roof in the past six months, and our community does nothing but irrationally blame the officers. It's going to be hard waiting for her to get home at 2 A.M.

Actually her new vest was supposed to be ready a week ago and it got delayed, so she's wearing her old one for this week, but she's the type to wear it every day. In May, a local deputy was shot directly over his heart at close range with a 9mm by a Sureno gangster. His vest saved him, as did the mongoloid criminal who had apparently loaded his magazine with the wrong ammo after the first round. We've heard that the deputy, who is a bit of an old-timer, may have been the type to wear his vest only half of the time. Hopefully, this incident will change his policy.

Ive been a girly cop for 14 years. If she has the right attitude she will be fine. If you hook up with the right people and learn the real way to do police work and actually throw hands when you have to it becomes a job like anything else. Dont become one of those jealous guys that grills you when you come home from work about how your date went. You will relax after a few weeks, Good luck.....

Right. New officers are paired with FTO's for a certain ammount of time before they are on their own.

She's a cop, not a hooker. Seriously, what kind of shithead would do this?

Best Of Health and Success to your wife! I'd be a little nervous too but that would be for any family member...
