Well, PO, At Our Cores We Humans Are Basically Extremely Selfish. So If It Doesn't Affect Us...It Doesn't Matter.

its not that i dont care about the people that it affects
my friends grandmothers house burned down and im worried about her and hope everything is okay, and now my house is in the line of fire.

I take it back
i do care about the ppl but as a hole i dont care about the welfare of the city.
i just think its strange that i could care that little about a place i lived and if my house burned down.
i do feel bad for ppl on an individual basis but the city as a hole can go fuck itself

Damn, I love that part of Tahoe. I've gone skiing/gambling there about 5 times now and can't wait to go back. Yet what's the deal with the trees on the slopes, the casinos and the area as a whole? Give some updates and story on the fire Pat, come on!

the news is really slacking on this story
its south west of the main part of south lake tahoe(mostly west of the y)

no injuries/deaths/missing people reported

You'll care if your house burns down, and then you ever try to get homeowners' insurance again.

Oh, sweet. I hope you have renter's insurance to cover your personal belongings! If not, call and try to get some right now... be sure to record the call and post it here. I wanna hear how loud they laugh!

my place is fine and it appears the fire is mostly under control
unless the winds get real bad overnight the damage has been done
but with how fucked up the local building commision is and how the locals prevent any kind of productive work being done it will take prob 5 years to rebuild

this is a wonderful piece of earth... it makes me sad if only for the natural beauty that will take years to re-cultivate. Not to mention the homes/lodges... both for human and animal residents.

it looks like it may have been started intentionally

We haven't had a big one of the year in the bay area yet. It's always surreal to wake up in the morning and find it snowing ash.

A lot of people lost a lot of shit and that sucks. Wjhat sucks worse is that I'm headed there in September for holiday. Why does it suck, you ask? Beacuse it's too late to water ski and too early to snow ski. My company is having our annual trip so it'll be free but I don't necessarily want to vacation in a burned out wasteland. I'll most likely spend most of my time in Harvey's casino anyway.
