View Full Version : Silly things we do with our pets that crack us up

Living alone, I need to find ways to amuse myself. My cats are often involved.
For example, Alice often sits next to me when I'm on the computer. She'll look all serene and happy. When she's looking like this I can't help myself from doing the "You talkin' to me" speech from Taxi Driver.
Alice (in a soft, lilting, and serene voice): "You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talking... you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the fuck do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? OK."
And then I laugh like a retard.
Then the other day, I walked into the living room to find Otis lying on his back, belly exposed. Alice was sitting next to him. Suddenly I burst out with,
"Don't you do it! Don't! You... I got nowhere else to go! I got nowhere else to g... I got nothin' else."
I don't even like that movie all that much.
Single, you say?

When I was a teenager, we had a rambunctious cat. Any time we would have spaghetti, we would grab a wet noodle from the pot before putting sauce on them. We would take the full length wet noodle and throw it on the cat. The noodles would stick to her fur, and the cat would go absolutely bat-shit crazy! It would totally freak out and run around the house like a bat out of hell and scream and cry like it was being killed. Finally I would feel sorry for it and go take the noodle off, but I would get all scratched up in the process.
The scratches were worth the laughs!

When I had a cat I used to put a sock over her head and watch her wiggle her way out of it. I would also throw her toy mouse against the wall and watch her springboard off the wall to catch it in the air. And I would do Burrito Cat a lot.
I have a dog now, named Ben. And I will say to him "Hello Ben the dog. Have you Ben a dog today? Ben a dog all your life?" And I, too, laugh like a retard.
Pets make us stoopid.

You're giving me waaay too much credit right now. My neighbors think I'm nuts.
Sometimes I grab Otis and I hug and kiss and kiss and hug until he completely loses his mind and becomes indignant over the horrible treatment.

my brothers dog lucy, which was under my care for 2 years, is a spitz/eskimo mix. i guess spitz's are known to "yodel" sometimes when they get vocal. it sorta sounds like "roooo-roooooooooo-roooo-roo-roo". i can sit there for hours and make her "rooo" for treats. its very amusing.
other times i continually sing, "lucy in the sky with diamonds" and she gets all worked up.

When I come home from the gym, or just a long day spent in sneakers, I will take off my socks and pet Chewy, our cat, she'll start rolling on my feet and hugging my legs. I also throw my socks at our other cat and my wife. They don't enjoy that so much, but I do.

I remember I had a party and some of my guests were in awe that a cat would actually fetch.

06-25-2007, 02:34 PM
Yeah. I had never seen a cat do that until mine.
Her favorite is when you stand at the bottom of the steps while she's at the top, then throw the ball up. She leaps in the air trying to get it, and then has to chase it into one of the other rooms. Then she'll bat it back down to you, so you can do it again.
Pretty funny.

i have taken the dwarf bunny to my new place and her name is Reeses. when you lay on the floor she will come over and lick your neck and face with her small, warm, soft and slightly abrasive tongue which tickles like heck. it's especially ticklish when she licks your eyelids and eyesockets

I'll usually smack a table and scream "I'M GONNA GET YA!" and then my boy will jump off the couch (where he usually sleeps) and play attack me as I play attack him. Both of us growling like nutjobs. After about a minute of this, he starts kissing me because he just cant bear the thought of actually being mad at me. Then I tell him "You ruined it! I wanted to be the crazy guy!" and he kisses me again. Impossible.
My cat loves to play tag. Seriously.
She'll come flying up out of nowhere and whack me with her paws on my thigh, and then turn tail and run like hell. If I don't chase her she comes back at me again. When I do chase her she runs like a maniac all over the house. I'll corner her and then I'll turn around and run and she comes after me again. I giggle like a lunatic the entire time.

I like to blow in their ears, which makes them flick like they are shooing a fly.
Chico will follow a laser pointer anywhere, anytime. If you put it on a person he will kiss that spot until the person climbs a piece of furniture out of reach.
Hazel loves having her belly rubbed but hates being cradled like a baby, so I like to do both and watch her internal dialogue go nuts. I hate it...I love it...I hate it...
She's existentially tortured by belly rubs.

ohhhh I used to love using the laser pointer with my cats! They would follow it all over the carpet and around the furniture. When I would point it up the wall and at the ceiling, Mimi used to launch off the back of the couch to try to catch it. Priceless.

I like to go into the kitchen and knock on the table, and then say "who is it? who's there?" and watch Ben go crazy at the door looking for someone who is not there.
I used to be able to fake him out by pretending to throw his squeaky-ball into the backyard, but he caught onto that one real quick.

Noodles the ferret and I have a stupid game called 'toss the ferret'. i toss the ferret into the 6ft shag bag, the ferret bounds back at me and aims for my toes...which leads to the rinse and repeat process. Our new game is "make random people wet themselves". He hides under my hair and balances on my shoulders draped around my neck, we go to a public place and he pops out at random and makes a reverse hissing noise....then i go 'gah, rabies!'. Only i can adopt a spleenless ferret that understands the fun in shockvalue.

my cousin does that all the time with his cats (the yoda thing).
most of our cats will play fetch. one loves to groom the other cats and will often like my arm till i grow weary of it, like i'm just another of the cats. my favorite is playing kitty-copter. pick up cat over bed, toss into air and spin like a pizza pie (or a helicopter). only problem is there's a small chance you'll get your arm torn open if you do it wrong.
