"Worked for me!"
About the HGH thing with the kid. It is what it is and we are all going to draw our own conclusions. It IS more common than you think. I saw a story about it on some Dateline-type show with a family who had 4 boys. Their father was a tall man. And the first 3 boys grew up to be tall. The last boy didn't grow as big as the other three so they started giving him HGH as he was in puberty so he could grow as big as his brothers. All you need is a doctor willing to write a prescription for HGH to do it.
I still think it's awful. But when you mix it with Benoit's apparent (maybe, we'll find out) roid use and the wrestling background with both parents..... Holy shit. WWE must be at Defcon 5.
Jesus Christ. Were all those steroids they found just for the little kid?!

On Saturday, June 23, Chris Benoit was slated to appear at a WWE live event in Beaumont, Texas. That afternoon, Benoit contacted WWE to inform them that his wife and child were ill, and that he would not be able to attend the show.
WWE executives rebooked Benoit’s flight for the following morning, allowing Benoit to miss the Beaumont event making alternate arrangements for him to attend the pay-per-view event in Houston on Sunday.
WWE employees attempted to confirm with Benoit his travel plans but were unable to contact him.
Early Sunday morning, between 3:51 and 3:58 a.m., Benoit sent five text messages to co-workers:
Text Message 1 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”
Text Message 2 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:53am)- Chris Benoit’s cell phone
“The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open”
Text Message 3 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:54am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”
Text Message 4 to two co-workers (sent 6/24 at 3:55am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane.
Fayetteville Georgia. 30215"
Text Message 5 to one co-worker (sent 6/24 at 3:58am)- Nancy Benoit’s cell phone
“My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215”
Throughout the day on Sunday, WWE made numerous attempts to contact Benoit both at home and at local hospitals in the Atlanta area. As of 11:00 p.m., WWE officials were unable to establish contact with Chris Benoit.
At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, WWE officials were notified of the text messages sent to the co-workers the previous day. By 12:45 p.m., WWE had contacted Fayetteville County Sheriff’s office requesting they check on the Benoit family.
Fayetteville County Sheriffs office made contact with WWE at approximately 4:00 p.m. advising that they had entered the house of Chris Benoit and found three deceased bodies – an adult male, adult female and a male child. WWE was told that Benoit’s home was now considered a major crime scene.
The decision to cancel the live event scheduled in Corpus Christi that night was made between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. In keeping with company policy, and with limited knowledge regarding facts of the case, WWE choose to air a memorial dedicated to the career of Chris Benoit. As facts emerged surrounding the case, all tributes to Chris Benoit were removed both on-air and on WWE.com.

Anyone who caught the beginning of ECW and wants to give a quick rundown of what was said, it would be appreciated.
WWE is just going into major ass covering mode. The media is obviously looking to jump on the steroids thing, I think it was the first question in the press conference today. If the toxicology reports come back that he had roids in his system, it's bad, but I still don't think the company is going out of business because of the steroid link.
On the other hand, if the media picks up on the number of wrestlers who have died at a young age in recent years (that list posted earlier in the thread is unreal), that's the thing that could really put a stigma on the overall wrestling business as an industry.

A message from the Chairman
Written: June 26, 2007The following message from Vince McMahon aired at the beginning of tonight's ECW on Sci Fi:
Last night on Monday Night Raw, the WWE presented a special tribute show, recognizing the career of Chris Benoit. However, now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight's show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process. Tonight, the WWE performers will do what they do better than anyone else in the world--entertain you.

You have a hard time standing by a company that doesn't stand by its child-murdering employees?
Or was it that a Cena/Nitro match didn't appeal to you (didn't to me either)?

Yep.
And don't forget about all of the young kids that watch and attend the shows.
I think they are right in wanting to
A. begin the healing and moving on process... maybe not Personally, but as far as the "show" goes.
and B. to possible help to shield young audiences from the ugly reality of the situation. That is their parents role... to explain in a way that is fitting.

The Associated Press reported the following a few minutes ago.
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- A professional wrestler who killed himself and his family was a former customer of a company implicated in an upstate New York investigation of illegal steroid sales.
That's according to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, which is conducting the investigation in New York.
Authorities in Fayetteville say Chris Benoit strangled his wife and suffocated his 7-year-old son before hanging himself over the weekend.
Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscular man was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as "roid rage."
In Albany, the DA's office confirms the 40-year-old Benoit was a customer as recently as last year of the south Florida company MedXLife.
Two of its co-owners pleaded guilty to drug charges in Albany County in April, admitting they helped get prescriptions drugs in 2006 for customers in upstate New York who had no medical need for them. The pair testified Signature Pharmacy of Orlando filled the orders.
MedXLife, no longer taking orders, attracted customers through its Web site.

Vince and WWE owe NOBODY an apology. They did the tribute because it was the only thing they COULD do at the time. When Raw came on, no one knew anything except that Benoit was dead. If the tribute was done TONIGHT, that would be another story. But it's not fair to say that WWE aired that tribute in poor taste.
WWE doesn't owe anybody shit. Why is it their fault if someone that works for them kills somebody? Why should they get heat?

The wrestlers who have died while working for the WWE were Owen (accident), Pillman (bad heart), and Eddy (bad heart).
The majority of other people who have died are outside of Vince's control. You cannot blame him or the business. I'm sure if you did research into physically demanding jobs without health insurance or other stuff, you'd see a problem too.
The problem is, as I said before, the media crucified Imus, and that was over a stupid comment, but it was enough for a bunch of major sponsors to pull out of the show.
Three people died here. If drugs were in Benoit's system, it will probably completely invalidate the WWE's "wellness program", send the WWE to the early 90's hell they were in, and although I can't see the company folding, I CAN see a major blood-letting and the possibility of either the ECW show or the Smackdown show folding.
CW and Sci-Fi like the wrestling programs because they bring in decent ratings and are relatively cheap to produce. But if they get a shitload of bad publicity, I can see one or both maybe not being cancelled, but going on hiatus.

If Benoit had an adverse reaction to drugs in his system, they can blame the pressures of the WWE environment for causing him to snap.

I know this is taking things to an extreme degree but the deaths in the past were former stars, then fringe stars and now they are starting to be major stars. Is there any way the government might step in and shut this thing down? They already try to say wrestling impacts the viewer to be more violent and sexist. Now its killing off its own employees at an alarming rate. I hope it doesn't happen but wrestling might have a huge fight with the government on their hands.

For as much as we bash Vince.. And rightfully so.. You have to say he handled this thing as good as anyone could have handled it.. From last night to tonight. For such short notice of last (He had to do the tribute) Until the facts were fully in, everything was hearsay.. So he had to do it.. And tonight, i could not put it any any better.. Not apologizing for last night.. But showing how disgusted he was in what happened.. Good job Vince..
If the WWE is employing a group of people where 1.they know steroid use is rampant and 2.they are in a position to profit from it and 3.they know what the negative consequences could be and 4. They do nothing about it then they could and should get in hot water for this.
1. They'd have to if it's happening.
2. They are.
3. They have to.
4. Is the wellness policy enough? Is it working? Who knows. The WWE has enough resources to defend itself either way.
The bottom line is that if they are cultivating an industry where they are tolerating or even encouraging steroid use and wrestlers need to do them just to stay competitive and they are dying young in droves something needs to be done and they need to be held accountable. I haven't kept track of wrestling in a while so I don't know if that's happening. But it seems like WWE is going to be put under one hell of a microscope now.
But please don't interpret that as me thinking that WWE has any responsibility for this murder.

I'm not saying that the WWE is responsible. But just as the MSM painted Imus as a card-carrying klan member, (even though he wasn't), they can do the same with the WWE, where the environment promotes constant injury, mental and physical fatigue, fractured families, and of course, rampant drug use.

I feel like crap, for giving my thoughts about Benoit yesterday.
Now with the latest reports, I'm very much disgusted with what Benoit did. I know more detailed info will be given in a couple of weeks with what could have been in Benoit's system, and be more informed by then.
But as of right now, the hell with Chris Benoit. To do that to your wife, and your OWN SON!!! Just Horrific, and sad.
I have some comments concerning Benoit’s wrestling ability. Many people have been saying he was a great wrestler. I never saw this. To me he was a boring Canadian with no personality (no offence to our Canadian friends, but you people do come off as dullards). Doesn’t anybody remember the demise of the Four-Horseman when he was a member? I mean you went from the likes of the Anderson’s, Tully Blanchard, Lex Lugar to Benoit and that guy from the Chicago Bears.
Even after he left WCW to the WWE, what did he ever do? He was moved from RAW to the crappy SmackDown and was never a big draw.

Ive been fealing a wave of different emotions as more time goes on.
Sadness that a whole family has been destroyed. Sad that his piers have lost a friend. Sad that they now have to learn and deal with what he did.
Confused as to how someone could do such a horrorable thingto the people he loved the most.
Shocked that what's happened really happend
and also anger that a man i respected for his talents and dedication to an industy that i have loved and been passionate about for over a decade has with these acts taken away from me some of the greatest memories i have of Pro Wrestling like the ending of Wrestlemana 20. That was hard enough to watch with Eddie and now add that to the emotions and circumstances of this and its unbearable.
I dont know if or when ill be able to watch a match with Chris Benoit and not be able to think about what has happened.
i honestly dont know how to feal about all of this. too many emotions.
I just wish the family and friends peace
I hope that in time the wrestling comunity, performers and fans alike can come to some kind of grips with whats happened.
This is worse then anything i could ever imagine having to deal with as a wrestling fan.
Simply tragic is the best way to sum it up i think.
Simply Tragic

Dude, who other than Dean Malenko has more than five moves? The bottom line is that the wrestling aspect of wrestling is fake. They pretend to beat up each other. The real draw to wrestling is personality and story lines, which Benoit was never part of anything intriguing.

This is one of the most ridiculous statements yet. Benoit was a huge draw (need I mention the "We Want Benoit!" chants at this previous PPV). He was a terrific technical wrestler with many classic matches and fueds under his belt. I agree that he didn't fit the typical Vince-ified personas that you see with Hogan, Cena, and the like, but Chris didn't need that; his personality showed through his in-ring work. It's true that what he did was awful, but for the last 22 years Benoit poured his heart and soul into the business and I'm grateful that we were able to witness his talents at the highest level.

You guys are taking my comments way too seriously. The fact is I do not watch wrestling on a regular basis. I tune in once in a while, because I have liked wrestling since I was a kid. What I am saying is my opinion, you do not have to agree with me, but please do not attack me. I do not know who the great kali is (and you are probably gonna beat me up over that), I know old school wrestling, and in my personal opinion, Chris Benoit sucked.
The real issue is that you are defending a murder of a woman and child over something that is fake. This is why I normally do not post any comments on message boards.

I can name a lot of wrestlers that I thought were good over the years, they are the ones that entertained me. For example the Iron Sheik was great. It was a time when we hated Iran and his arrogance and distain for the US was perfect. On the same line, the Russians from WCW (Nikali and Nikitta Crushoffn Spelling?) were great because of the same reason. On the other hand , Hulk Hogan and Rick Flair had no technical skills but have great personalities that carried their careers. I even remember Dusty Rhodes and/or Kerry Von Eric vs. Rick Flair stories that lasted for years and went nowhere, but they intriguing. That is all I am saying about Beniot, he had no personality in my opinion and never entertained me on that level. I can appreciate his physical abilities, but that was never why I like wrestling, it was always the story line.

Not to take anything away from Bruno Sammartino, but yes Hulk Hogan is more important to wrestling than anybody in history. The fact that he was such a face for so many years and reinvented himself so perfectly as the heal during the NWO era, speaks volumes for his personality.

Dude, who other than Dean Malenko has more than five moves? The bottom line is that the wrestling aspect of wrestling is fake. They pretend to beat up each other. The real draw to wrestling is personality and story lines, which Benoit was never part of anything intriguing.
So according to your logic (and i use the term loosely) WWE should show 2 hours of backstage talk and interviews and at a PPV lets say 2 wrestlers climb in the ring and a winner is just declared without so much as an irish whip?
"The wrestling aspect of wrestling is fake"
Tell that to the injuired list. i'm sure those injuires occured during morning prayer. Just stop, the action is worked through before hand but when you figure out how to fall off a 20 foot ladder into a table (or 3) in a fake manner please PM me.

Even though I'm pretty sure thats a different thread if I was to provide a top 5 list it would include a lot of "Technical" wrestlers past and present that entertained far beyond just mic skills and charisma. Thats just how I enjoy my wrestling. I have been a fan for about 20 yrs I seen it all. I was obsessed in my early teen, saw bootlegs from Japan (With Pegasus Kid), Mexico, and Puerto Rico loved fast paced action with great moves/pin combo. (See Benoit DVD for examples).
To go back on topic, you can not like Benoit as a character. Thats fine, but don't say the guy couldn't work thats just not fair. This is his ending which pretty much flushes a legacy down the shitter, as it should. I for one am not going to be able to even enjoy wrestling for sometime after this. As far as another Benoit match goes, I don't even think I could. He killed his fuckin family for god sake.
To finish this enjoyable banter with you. I am not defending a murderer, I am defending a style of wrestling that I feel should be the biggest draw in the US. It is all around the rest of the world. I will now go and start a *new" thread to address that topic more.
Chris Benoit, a former favorite wrestler of mine, is cowardly murderer of Children. It sickens me to the core and that how he shall be remebered by me and others for now on.

Are you going to actually tell me he sucked too? He was great on the mic and in storylines, no question, but the man is a legend. He is, to me, the ladder match king. Ive never seen anyone perform better then him in those matches. Also a great in ring performer.

To me, Bret Hart and Curt Hennig had the best balance of character and actual wrestling ability.
There's guys who are in-ring masters of the sport (if that's what you wanna call it), but have zero personality (ie - RVD, Malenko, and *cringe* ...Benoit). And there's plenty of guys with minimal wrestling ability who are ALL personality (ie - Hogan, The Rock, HHH, and perhaps the all-time king of no wrestling talent but huge pop, Ultimate Warrior).
However, Hart and Hennig, I feel had a perfect (no pun intended) balance of in-ring mastery as well as charisma and attitude. (Chris Jericho also gets an honorable mention for this category.)

I dont know if or when ill be able to watch a match with Chris Benoit and not be able to think about what has happened.
With the WWE retconning the past to erase Benoit from it's history, the only way you're gonna see a match with him is if you made a concious decision to do so, either on tape/DVD or youtube. Because you will NEVER see Benoit's image on WWE TV again. I know a lot of people say "never" doesn't mean a lot in WWE, but trust me - you will NEVER see Benoit displayed or mentioned on purpose on WWE again.

This conversation should be split off from the main Benoit thread, but for someone to say that Hart had "personality" is pushing it. If someone from the Hart family had the perfect blend of charisma, personality, and skills, it was Owen, NOT Bret.
Bret had a lot of skills, but his interviews left something to be desired. Think about it - how many "great" Bret Hart promos can you remember? The only one I can remember is him sitting in a wheelchair in the middle of the ring.
How many memorable lines can you remember?
I also think putting HHH and the Rock in a category of Hogan and Warrior is unfair. Rock and HHH actually got better skills and moves wise as their careers progressed. Hogan and Warrior did not.
From a pure crisis communications standpoint, Vince & the WWE communications/legal team have done a superb job handling this situation. The manner in which the initial tribute, then the honesty on their website about the situation and finally the opening of ECW with Vince's disgust....every step was perfect by the WWE. As much as I don't like many of Vince's storylines/decisions, this is one example of why Vince is as big as he is.
In "Crisis Communications" classes in the fall they should have two case studies: A how-to featuring WWE/Benoit & a how-not-to featuring Imus. The difference is shocking.

Why?
You have a hard time standing by a company that doesn't stand by its child-murdering employees?
Or was it that a Cena/Nitro match didn't appeal to you (didn't to me either)?

Or it could be Steph...
You didn't read the timeline. The phone conversations and the text messages were to the same two people. One was an "unnamed co-worker" (Chavo), and the other person worked in Talent Relations. As Regal nor Edge works in Talent Relations, and the known people who work in talent relations are Laurentis, Ross, and Stephanie, I have a feeling it's Steph.

HGH is often used on pre-pubescent children.
In some studies the mean age was around 5yrs.
For use on healthy children?
Taken from the article:
The use of Human Growth Hormone in short children who are normal and have no GH deficiency is quite controversial. hGH seems to work well in children with a GH deficiency, but questions have arisen about whether the same can be said for children without a deficiency.
Growth Hormone therapy appears to improve the height velocity in many short children, at least in the initial stages of therapy, although it also accelerates bone maturation (Kawai et al., 1997). This maturation may counteract the height improvements in some patients and may have an adverse effect on final height (Kawai et al., 1997).
The other side of the controversy is that treatment of non-GH-deficient children is justified. Children are socialized in many ways. Short children are socialized according to their height rather than chronologic age (Sandberg et al., 1994). It is said they are stigmatized by deviant appearance and have low self-esteem, poor academic achievement, and poor social skills (Sandberg et al., 1994).
Not sure if this was posted anywhere, but I found this on another site....
Canadian female Pam Winthrope told News 1130 in Canada that Chris Benoit's son had a genetic condition called Fragile X syndrome.
According to WebMD, "Fragile X Syndrome is a defect of the X chromosome which causes mild mental retardation. The disorder occurs more frequently and severely among males than females. This condition is the leading known familial cause of mental retardation in the United States. Language delays, behavioral problems, autism or autistic-like behavior (including poor eye contact and hand-flapping), enlarged external genitalia (macroorchidism), large or prominent ears, hyperactivity, delayed motor development and/or poor sensory skills are among the wide range of symptoms associated with this disorder."
Winthrope, whose son also suffers from the condition, told the Canadian news outlet that her husband reached out to Benoit five years ago in an attempt to increase awareness about Fragile X.
She told News 1130, "We talked to him because I was trying to set up a support group in BC and in Canada, we only have a couple of them. My husband was struggling when we got diagnosed with our son, and Chris was struggling with his. They talked for a few minutes and then he said he didn't want to be a public face for Fragile X, he just wanted to keep it really, really quiet."
Winthrope noted that the lack of support for those affected by the disorder can tear families apart. Nonetheless, "she couldn't believe the news that Benoit had taken his life along with his wife and 7-year-old son," wrote News 1130.
This may explain why Daniel was taking growth hormone injections. It also may shed light onto why Chris didn't want someone else raising his son and made the fateful decision to kill him. As irrational and twisted as it may sound, he may have felt he was saving his son from the double-blow of losing his parents through a murder-suicide and being subject to being raised by people who didn't understand or care for his condition.

And finally this morning, Stone Cold Steve Austin's ex-wife Debra Williams has spoken out about the Benoit -- and her own -- situation, saying her story is similar to Nancy Benoit's and that she was under a gag order for a year not to talk about the last time Austin abused her. In a video segment attached to the online story, Williams says about Austin, "Steroids! He was doing steroids. I saw him do it, so I know he did it." She goes on to say that "I have lived it. I have lived domestic abuse. I don't even want to think about what Nancy went through ... Why kill your wife, who's innocent, and why kill your seven year old, a little child? That's why I have to speak up. I've been silent for too many years."
When is there a gag order on victims? It was a financial settlement that you accepted.

Benoit's son may have died in a choke hold:
ABC News and CNN are reporting that they talked with District Attourney Scott Ballard, and he said that investigators believe Chris Benoit killed his seven-year-old son, Daniel, with a wrestling choke hold.
Daniel was found face down on his bed, but authorities said they do not know whether he was sleeping when he was killed. Ballard said authorities believe the child was asphyxiated using a choke hold. The DA didn't offer anymore details.

Taken from the article:
Short children are socialized according to their height rather than chronologic age (Sandberg et al., 1994). It is said they are stigmatized by deviant appearance and have low self-esteem, poor academic achievement, and poor social skills (Sandberg et al., 1994).
Ya know - the article lost me here - the way I look at it, that's just an excuse - who is to say that the same child stigmatizecd for being short wouldn't be stigmatized by something else? I look back at pictures of myself as a kid, and I definatley don't look the way I thought i did, but I had the oddest/worst self image. On the flip side, I can think of two examples of shorter than average boys who were never stigmatized by their height - both were maybe the most popular kids in their respective classes.
One was the brother of an old high school girlfriend (going back MANY years ago), and another is a recently the son of some friends of mine. He looks like he's about 9 or 10, but is actually 13 and acts all of 21. He was out at a public social event with the rest of his family, and his older cousins didn't have half his cock-sureness, or self-confidence. He was chatting up girls from his school who were a good foot or more taller than him, and he had them completely swooning.
Like the brother of the girlfriend, he's going to be normal height one day, he's just taking his time - and like that other kid, he has a great support system with his family, especially his folks.
On the flip side of THAT, I have a nephew who had the opposite problem, and it wasn't as easy as people would think (looking older than you are), but he coped - eventually all his friends caught up - and all is good. Kids need reinforcement constantly of the bigger picture.

I'm not saying that the WWE is responsible. But just as the MSM painted Imus as a card-carrying klan member, (even though he wasn't), they can do the same with the WWE, where the environment promotes constant injury, mental and physical fatigue, fractured families, and of course, rampant drug use.
This is too horrific to not be painted a certain way.

It wasn't before the murder happened, but before the public KNEW the murder happened. Benoit's wife had already been killed but supposedly nobody knew about it.
Either a fan was speculating and blindly and hit reality (they just said she was dead, not murdered), or somebody - most likely Benoit himself, a friend, or a coworker at WWE - found out about the situation and altered the Wkipedia entry.

My take on it....
The human psyche is a perfect mystery... full of twists and turns ... and when one goes horribly wrong we are drawn to it like rats to an underground feast.
Don't forget... this is also a website and radio show that caters to/attracts fans of pro wrestling... so this story, in particular, hits home.
Personally, I am just fixated on the story for its details... or lack thereof. So much speculation... but who will ever know what demons crept into this mans head and caused this series of events. I honestly feel a little sad for the guy. Moreso for the family... who will never have the answers the want/need.

maybe this will help:
most of us are wrestling fans. We follow the "sport" for years. We watch fads and faces come and go. We also watch some of these guys (and girls) grow, develop and change. We watch them get hurt and battle back from injury (real and fake). We also learn alittle bit of their personal lives, marriages, divorces, births and family deaths. We begin to feel like we know them and when someone you know snaps, it effects you.

maybe this will help:
most of us are wrestling fans.
And also, it apparently gives some posters carte blanche to make tasteless jokes.

Thank you sir.
The time for hushed respect is over. The time for black humor at Benoit's expense is here.
It's already begun over at You're the Man Now Dog and of course, Wackbag.
He was a great wrestler, but learning what he did leaves me with a feeling of disdain for the man. He is now comedy fodder.
i was just doing what dmm said, look i'm a stupid follower

I was sad to see Lafontaine traded but Benoit Hogue had a couple of nice seasons for the Islanders along with Pierre Turgeon.

Pretty much nailed it right there.

Does he know what you prefer? (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=61294)
So I've just been taking in this situation because I wasn't really sure what to make of it. Anyway, I think I've kind of figured out how I feel about it now.
First, Benoit...it's amazing...he was apparently one of these guys who wanted to be remembered by his peers and fans as the greatest in-ring wrestler ever, and worked hard to preserve that legacy. Now, he'll be known as nothing more than the guy who murdered his family. And he really deserves nothing less.
I think I'm going to check out a few matches sometime next week and see how I react to them. I don't think it's going to be an "I can't watch this" type of thing, but I think all the impressive stuff he used to do is just going to seem meaningless. Everything the guy did to establish himself in his career is wiped out.
The story has already evolved, though. WWE is in serious trouble on several levels because of this. Most immediately, the fact that one of their most popular stars was revealed as a sociopath who killed his family HAS to have a negative effect on its audience. Most of WWE's audience these days are children. I can't imagine a lot of parents clamoring to let their kids watch it after this thing broke.
But the bigger threat, that will evolve over time, is that this very well will probably lead to a federal investigation into wrestling in general, and congressional involvement with regards to steroids and illegal substances. Not that steroids has any relevance to Benoit's case at all. It doesn't matter at this point. The media has already hijacked the story.
And with the media driving this, the government can't ignore it anymore. They're going to have to do something, because the evidence is pretty damning when it comes to wrestling. And if there's a federal steroids probe in wrestling, the whole business could collapse, because pretty much everyone is one something. The steroids scandal in the early 90s is what set WWE on its path to almost going bankrupt in the mid-90s.
This one has the potential to be much larger and further reaching. If they link the company to wrestlers getting illegal substances, then they're definitely done. Even if they don't...when it comes out that so many of these top wrestlers are basically killing themselves with medications, it's going to lose it's mainstream/family audience which is what wrestling pretty much thrives on.
If Congress gets involved...WWE has some serious problems ahead.

It looks just like a bum that knew Benoit was married to woman and when the family problems came up he just guessed/made up she died.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but Benoit's son daniel had Fragile X Syndrone, a Genetic disorder that can cause, among other things, mental retardation and autism. It also causes physical deformities such as stunted growth.
I wonder how much of this stems from Benoit not wanting to have an inferior son. There are rumors that he had been injecting HGH into his son to stimulate growth. But there's no such treatment for mental retardation.
It kills me that 40 years after Willowbrook people still think like that.

Come on, Cap doesn't talk like that. He's got more of a 'common man' type of voice. And Cap was the 'liberal' voice of the Avengers, just like Iron Man was the 'conservative'.
