Ummm, it was more for the tornado warning. It's the only place in my apartment with no windows and with the wind and hail I thought it was the best place. If I had a house with a lot of land I'd build one of those storm cellars, I get too scared.

Yeah, it started weird. From my angle in Brooklyn, it seemed at first like explosions occurring above the clouds in quick succession in the same spot (like WOTD). It was 10 minutes before I saw any forked lightning.

Three inches of rain in an hour? (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/08/nyregion/08cnd-weather.html) You lucky bastards! I'd be totally happy to have 135MPH winds (not directly on my house), if we could get that much rain. We finally got our first decent rain here in weeks today, but it wasn't THAT much.

My drive from the Bronx to Queens took over two hours last night. When I finally got off the Grand Central (after passing by the car where the woman was killed) just about every side road was blocked with fallen trees. Luckily there was no damage to my house (we took a hit during the storm back in March).

Wish I owned a chain saw. Could make a fortune today.
