i generally find myself with and persuing women of every other race but my own. I have been attracted to black women from time to time, but i always think that the challenge/chase factor isnt there... I guess because i always figured it was a given that id end up with a blk female as a spouse, so the spark just isnt there if its a given...

I luckily have been lucky with a number of women, but i fear falling into the catagory of brothers with good jobs that leave the 'sistahs' as soon as i make something of myself... Even my boys notice my dating habits, but dont outright say anything negative

Im not usually shallow about anything, but ive noticed my pattern and am a bit concerned, i really dont know what to think of the whole thing

I agree with everything that has already been said in this thread. I don't consider it shallow to have preferences in the women you date. We all have them to varying degrees, nothing wrong with that. And to people who might say you are limiting yourself, so what?

If you are looking for answers, then be prepared for some serious psychological archeology as you'll wind up digging up everything in your past. If you're not interested in doing that then yeah just date whoever you want and be happy!

He more then hinted to the fact it's partly the challenge he feels from chasing women of a different race. He also stated that he's always assumed he'd marry a black woman, so my question is why does he assume this while he's actively persuing every other race except his own. Is it safe to speculate, given his brief post, that his family expects him to marry a black woman and therein lies his problem?

Right, regarless of race, propinquity plays a large role with whom you are exposed to and thus who you'll date. So now you've exposed yourself to different environments and increased your pool of potential mates which is good but I don't even know if that has anything to do with your original post.

Regardless of race, the women I have met and seen have never ceased to prove to me how there is nothing more beautiful in this world than the female form. I do have to admit, I don't like American white girls as much as I like girls of any other ethnicity...including foreign white girls. I prefer the experience of different cultures through knowing people who are not like the cookie cutter folks I grew up with in high school. It feels like a clean slate going into something unknown and exploring it...experiencing it... living it. Maybe even become a part of it. I like that idea.

But it'll always be about the woman underneath all that surface stuff in the end. The whole cultural/different from what I'm used to thing... that's bonus stuff. So I can't say race was ever a primary motivating factor for me. But I do love other cultures, especially their women quite a bit.
