To be fair, I'm going from the perspective of a major event that is worth traveling for:


I'll give you Softball, although it was on a crumby weekend.
Bar nights are not enough of a draw for "out of towner's" like me. It's nice for you NYC folks, but c'mon...
Stugots' event doesn't count. It was Stugots' event, not a rf.net event.

There really hasn't been much recently that has been a "big draw" other than the wedding, and that was a show event.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. They have busted on the board pretty hard recently, but this is the only item I could empathize with.

Well, I'm looking at it as 2 different kinds of bar nights - you have the small scale "hey, we are getting together on Friday for a bar night" (no pun intended), but you also have the "RF.net is having a Bar Night - there will be drink specials if you buy a wristband, there will be games & prizes, and the guys from the show will be there!"

It seems like the later type has been far less frequent in recent months. Of course that could just be my perception.

Local bar nights are cool, and I am sure they were a staple of the NY/DC shows, but I came onboard with XM and live in Philly. I'm looking for a reason to drag myself several hours away for an event.

I have to disagree with you. First off the Softball game was a great time. If you want to talk travel I came from LI to go there and it was well worth it. In my opinion the way I look at it like the Stugots event was a board event. Maybe not technically I felt like it was. He is one of our own, he is building his show and listener base and the least we can do is show our love and support. It was an absolutely amazing time plus it had a very respectable turnout - plus the feeling of pride I had in watching the evolution of Stugots alone was probably more rewarding than anything I've been to in a while. Bobo traveled pretty far to make it and from what I can see had a great time. I can understand your feelings on bar nights, but even those have had folks traveling far to make it and everyone has a really great time with it.

If anything I personally love the smaller events because to me they are more intimate we get to talk and know each other a little more. Larger events tend to be loud and all over the place, they're a lot of fun but not exactly the same thing. While I love them both, you really are missing out on what a great group of people we have here if you don't take the time to come out to one of the "smaller" events. If you haven't been to one before than you have no basis. To be honest with you, I've been to cigar nights, BBQ's, softball games, bar nights, big events, after event events, etc and all of them have been really awesome times and I don't regret the traveling I've done one bit.
