For some reason, I deluded myself into thinking that a barred attorney would be able to get a job practicing in criminal law without all that much fuss. Unfortunately I think I was wrong. It's now been like nearly 3 months since I found out I passed and it's a solid month and a half since I was sworn in. And still nothing.
Maybe I'm being picky, but I'm haven't been all that active on the firm job stuff because I'm just not as interested in the stuff they do and because I don't think I'll get those jobs anyway. I went to a good law school, but I didn't do that well. So still I wait. And it sucks beyond belief.
There goes my whine/rant.

No connections that could hook you up?

I've tried. My employers have all liked me I think. I haven't been able to get my connections to work for me for whatever reason.
It is the summer though which I think is a slow hiring season anyway.

It really does suck.

I have had over three years of experience in my line of work and I can't ge a damn call back.

I just applied to a job within my company in AZ that I am really hoping to get. There is another one I am going to apply to that is also in my company AND ITS THE SAME JOB I DO NOW.....and if I don't at least get a call I am going to be pretty disappointed

Just a thought...

Are any of you using online job boards (Monster, etc)? Whenever I have used those boards to post jobs the response I get is truly overwhelming; so many applicants that it is impossible to sift through all so have to grab 10 to 20 and just go from there ( the last posting I had was for an entry-level environmental scientist/geologist-we received 2100 applicants).

What I would suggest is using those boards to find out about the job and then do a much research and recon as possible to find out who is the hiring manager (NOT the HR person but the person that you would be working for). It is not easy and you will be be rejected and uncomfortable but keep digging until you find that person. Once you find them contact them directly via phone and follow up with an email or fax but talk to them first. You truly have nothing to lose (you can't lose a job you don't have).

It sounds so cliche but work you have to work as hard to find a job as you have to once you have your job...sometimes harder.

It might be the area you're currently living in just doesn't have a lot of openings or the job market is fairly scarce. I know that the job market in Gettysburg was next to nil in the five or so years I spent there. Not once did I hear about a bustling job scene going on there (except summer battlefield tours). Ditto for that entire region of PA.

Good luck budday, sometimes fishing takes a long while of roasting in the boat before you get your first snag.
