And not in a "oh let's laugh at the homeless person" or placate them way. I don't know why I find them so fascinating. Not every homeless person is a good conversation but there is the type who is clearly insane but comfortable with his insanity, has accepted his state in life and is just plain cool. I spent yesterday riding a train for two hours back and forth talking to this one homeless guy who spent like 15 minutes on a Clifton Webb movie loosely based on choosing the new head of the Ford Motor Company (which I can't find and ends with " 's War").
And there is so much more in their eyes than in the eyes of "normal" people. And sometimes, just sometimes, I am hoping that out of them will spew some sort of truth or answer that I am lookign for.
But how can I do that, listen to their probably drunken babble for hours changing my entire day's schedule, and barely spend 20 minutes talking to a contemporary before wanting to jump out a window?
