Yes. From what I gathered, Kenny lost his job as a NJ cop because he ratted on a few of his former co-workers. He was also moonlighting as security for Dice, but that wasn't as a big deal. He then sued theforce to get his pension and won.
If I am wrong, please forgive me, I don't have the total back story, it's just what I gathered over the last couple of years.
Kenny lost his job due to his stand-up routine, whereas someone ratted HIM out to his superiors with a tape of his performance and the suits didn't like it.

I was in court a few weeks ago and as I was being dealt by the judge, I automatically put my hands in my pockets like an asstard. Sharp whistle and violent hand gestures from the cop in the courtroom reminded me that I wasn't supposed to do that. I felt like an ass. At same time I was like "C'mon..I went through two metal detectors and there's no lumps in my pockets... it's a traffic violation... I"m not gonna kill anyone... relax". But in the end I'm no cop and people are unpredictable...so you gotta always be ready to spring in a job like that... at least I think I'd be that way if I was a cop. So again, I can't blame Bobo or Kenny. This was just an accident and people shouldn't beat themselves up about it.

he worked internal affairs for some NJ Jurisdiction but supposedly his problem came because someone saw his standup and felt it violated obligation to conduct himself in a proper manner - even though he was off duty and didn't mention he was a cop.

They played Kenny's standup on O&A once around the time he got in trouble. It was about as terrible as you'd expect; he tried to be edgy but just ended up with ghoulish. Norton had a funny reaction, if I remember well enough to paraphrase... he told Kenny to try to understand that there's a difference between "telling a rape joke" and "just describing a rape".
As far as Fez goes... let me say this. We're "animals" now because one guy messes up once? Those bar nights are supposed to be about being friends. It's pretty darn hard to be friends with someone who pouts and cries and takes his ball and goes home the first time something doesn't go their way. I think the NY callers who're pleading about how he'd NEVER feel uncomfortable around them are just playing into his hands. It could have just as easily been one of them. I'm not saying Fez was wrong to be irritated, but eventually you have to move on and be a person.

The thing with Fez is, we (and I say that as all the fans), didn't realize it would freak him out so badly to be filmed. Sure, some of us have common sense and wouldn't do it, but not everybody understands that.
Now we know that Fez will get pissed, but he won't give us the opportunity to change things. It's one strike and done with no chance to resolve the issue. Fez needs to be a little more understanding.

The caller was a douche because he felt that because Fez is, essentially, Fez both on and off the air and shouldn't be offended to be filmed at a bar, and should expect to be filmed.
He has the same mentality of people who go up to celebrities in restaurants and social places and ask for pictures and autographs. If you do that, you are a douche.

That's exactly the attitude from the NY'ers that I was complaining about earlier. The Bama situation could have happened just as easily in Manhattan. If anything is permanently *ruined* here, it's Fez's fault. Go ahead and act like the NY crowd is so much hipper than everyone else and would never let something so un-cool happen, but don't be shocked when Fez decides that the security cameras at Bar 9 are plotting to ruin his career and you're in the same boat.

And I'm not trying to be snippy, but we are LISTENERS of the Ron & Fez show. Sometimes we need to remember that. We don't have any power or special position just because we are fans and our input really doesn't count when everything is boiled down.
Actually my name is Brendan also, so it wasn't me that said stupid things to fez, it was just me with the lame spy report.

My point to fez also was "has this ever happened to you in new york" Fez's Reply: No.
you cant take it out everyone because of one bad experience. If anything, this should be an example of "WHAT NOT TO DO" the next time....if that ever happens.

Thanks I still felt like an asshole when Ron tried to get more info out of me because I had nothing else. When I called the DrudgeReport just had a headline with sirens up no story beneath it so I had no where else to go with it. When the click of death to live air came over my phone a article appeared beneath the headline.

That's what I was trying to say too. Fez makes it known that he doesn't like to be taped, everybody gets that (even if they don't understand it), but there is no chance to fix the issue.
I think Fez is just using this as an excuse to feed his neuroses - and I say this as someone who has been in a WORSE mental state than Fez.

You weren't the douche.

Bottom line, just know how to act...don't go overboard...I was at both tapings and at Dremos that night...At one point my wife turns to me and says, "Jeez, how many pics is this guy (Bama) going to take?" I know everyone was excited about being able to see the show live, sitting in on unmasked, and hanging out with them that night...Why can't people just be cool about it and not have to take a pic every 5 minutes...I don't understand the video thing either...Being a fan of the show, you know how that would bother Fez...
BTW, previous post is true...NY fans are a lot different from the other fans...sorry...It wouldn't have happened at Bar9...

Give me a fucking break RFP. He simply doesn't want to be filmed when at events with friends. It's that simple. I was most shocked with Bama's attitude as he's been a reg here for a while and should have just been, "Cool, no big deal I really didn't think about it." It's pretty simple that Fez is more relaxed in NYC so you guys should be even more low key with him. I'm not blaming anyone as I truly believe it'll all blow over soon enough, but I really don't think anyone is claiming "hippness" over Fez's desire to simply hang and not need to be on youtube when he's cool enough to hang with the listeners.

08-20-2007, 04:01 PM
Spoon is correct in the fact that Fezzie does not want to be all over Youtube, unless he agrees to it. (Plug Fez Pole Dance into the search) But people shooting pictures without your knowledge, in a fan friendly atmosphere can be creepy.
However, I have to disagree with his take on Bama. He meant absolutely no harm. It was just the thrill of the moment. Just sharing some of his experience with the board. The minute there was an objection, all images were removed.

HT, don't misread my comment on Bama. I was surprised he didn't understand Fez's side of things with the issue, but instead defended them as if he'd do it again even after the fact. Of course then Fez's next move is to say, "Fuck it. I just won't hang with the listeners from here on out." Hell, I wouldn't take someone's pick at the softball game if they didn't want me too.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that I'm soooo sick and tired of people using the show for their own selfish intentions. Everyone seems to have a fucking agenda of late and some have succeeded in making it about themselves or careers. The boys are surely great to their fans, but let things happen naturally and take a fucking step back and enjoy the actual moments you're a part of. I'm not distinctly mentioning anyone in particular, but I'd be dammed if everyone of late didn't have fucking agendas and or ulterior motives. I know of no other show so good to it's fans and especially "hardcores" in the end. Do we really want that all to come crumbling down? I know of a ton of great fans who hang at the 9 just about every party and you've never heard of them yet. Why? They just enjoy the show and love hanging with the rest of the crew when they can.

I must say, it was a horrible coincidence that Fez would say 'moving picutes, moving pictures,' while Bama was taking the phone movie. Disclaimer--I didn't hear Bama call in, so I can't speak to the whole conterversy.

So true. I was on such a high from the weekend's events that it was a big downer. It sucked to hear that Ron & Fez had such a bad time down here.
The Friday show went so well and both Unmasked's were excellent. It was too bad that it was overshadowed by some unfortunate incidents.

Ever meet him? He happens to be a very nice guy, actually. We met him after the show after doing the walkover last year, and he couldn't have been more willing to talk with the fans that were hanging out, take pictures, etc. That "Greg-Hughes-actor-who-plays-Opie" bit he does is closer to the truth than you might think.

He has no idea who Bobo is... why should he tell Kenny to chill out if he's not sure what this guy's motive was? I mean we all know Bobo's a great guy and harmless, but Kenny doesn't and made a judgment call.
