Havin a cappl o beers over the weekend at the polish inlaws and got to talkin about life under communism(during the 80's). Apparently life was hard and all that noninteresting stuff but more interestingly they had tickets delivered to them once a month for the essentials: food, sausages and vodka.

One coupon for either a case of beer or one bottle o vodka(40oz). Bars were basically nonexistant, short a few in the big cities.

Surprisingly not every Polish person of age who received this coupon drank it and instead traded it for more sausages or credits(money).

The relatives figured it was well over a hundred bill$ in todays money.

If an iron fisted prohibition law(ie Kennedy style bootleggers executed on mere suspicion) was suddenly imposed on you and your peoples, how much do you figure the price would be and how much would you be willing pay for that extra bottle a month?

$0, I don't drink, even a bottle of wine can last me a couple of months.

I would horde those coupons and live like a king!!

And that's why communism will never work.

More sausages for you then my friend.

I'd probably drop 150$ based on my current drinking habits. I'd bet a bottle would be worth more than that if the economy was healthy.

Well, I've paid $5-6 without too much pain in bars today, so I would probably go a dollar or tow higher if I had no choice. So lets say $7 a beer, thats $168 for a case of beer. Yeah, I could see that happening if there weren't any other options.

This is a question I often ponder during my time in the Middle East.

Ramadan's coming up -- no booze for sale for the entire month.

Thats a good idea

I was thinking about family members, cousions aunts grandparents etc, they will be over 21 and receive coupons, Ill just take their coupons and get drunk, or have them pick up the Vodka and Ithen pick the Vodka up

I would never be sober in that type of society
