View Full Version : Nintendo and Super Nintendo are no longer fun
I never though I'd make this confession...
I have a working Nintendo and Super Nintendo and a decent number of games for both. Everything still works fairly well considering the age of both.
Anyway, every so often, I dust them off, plug them in a play them. I just did this again recently.
Yet every time I do it, I inevitably come to the conclusion that it's no fun playing these games anymore. The platform, action, and sports games are ridiculously outdated.
As for the RPGs, even they are pretty weak, because they've been played so many times and there's so much better stuff out there today.
Sadly, it may be time to retire both for good.

This thread makes no sense to me. If anything, the fun-factor of all video game systems have been sliding steadily since the awesome peak of the SNES era.

a lot of the games, after the reminiscing and memories, are pretty shitty to play now. there are definitely a few gems that have stood the test of time, like super tecmo bowl or mario 1

Yeah, the thing is, based on this, you might be...I'm sorry to say this, but, Euthanization is the only answer now. You must be over 300 years old.

THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNKKKK YOU...that's my point.
I get the urge to play them every so often, and I dust off some games and play them, and the novelty of them is great for a little bit.
But the bottom line is that most of the games ARE shitty...and even the really good ones like FF2 and FF3, as well as Chrono Trigger, the Legend of Zeldas, etc....there's only so many times you can play and beat them.

It happens. You can only wear those comfortable old tennis shoes for so long until they fall apart.
Do yourself a favor and pick up Bioshock.

I could play Punch Out and RBI Baseball on Nintendo every day for the rest of my life and never tire of them.

Methinks you just need better games. Most of the ones already mentioned rule the 8 to 16-bit universe.
I will add Contra and Super C.

The whole world stands to support NES and SNES. I must agree with that. However, I will admit that when I play them, I prefer to be a bit buzzed, shouting at my brothers, and engaging in impromptu boxing matches in between level 4-1 and the warp on 4-2.

Doesn't everyone here have emulators?
I have to have 1000 old skool games for jNES, NEO GEO, genesis, Sega, you name it.
I also have a Playstation 2 to USB device so I don't have to use a keyboard to play.

Those controllers hurt my hands these days. The closest I come to playing with the old two buttoner is my gameboy advance. Which I keep in the bathroom of course. Nothing like Super Mario while taking a mean dump that has the consistency of a daiquiri

Old games are pretty much the ONLY way I roll. If it wasn't made before 1998, I'm probably not playing it.

You might as well change the title of this thread to "I really find sex to be a chore and pizza pretty much always sucks" because that's about as much sense as it makes.

I've also got the original Gameboy with some games for that. Some of those are decent....some are just horrific.
I have probably all of the best games for both systems...it's not that I hate them now, it's just, how many times can play these things over and over.
I will say, though, Punchout still holds up and is fantastic.

Nintendo Wii,
The cause of, and solution to, all of my problems.
I think I'm an addict. All day long I think about Home Run Derby, or Mario in Flipside. I've spent the last two days at work trolling Ebay trying to find The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for a good price so my wife won't yell at me for spending another $50. How will I explain to her that I need Metroid Prime 3.
At least she likes Wii golf.
