View Full Version : Lip Piercing

I've been trying to decide if I should get my lip pierced. I think it'll look good on me, and I also just want to change something up. It's relatively cheap and I've heard it's not that painful.

Anyone have an experience with a similar piercing, and do you think I should get it?

if you have to ask about it being "ok" then you don't need to think about it.
Actually, since you asked about it go get one, and be like everybody else. i'm sure you'll feel better then.

so youre sick of looking attractive to women?

Quite the opposite. The girl I'm interested in actually think they look hot. Let me just say that me thinking about getting one has nothing to do with her. It's more of an added incentive.

If you're getting a piercing or a tattoo or even a new haircut, do it for yourself first and foremost. If you have to ask people's opinions then you're doing it for wrong reasons. Either you want something or you don't. Don't let any body's thoughts on the matter influence you one way or the other when it comes to something like this. What the fuck do we know anyway?

i hope you're a very clean person, because of all the eating we tend to do the lip becomes one of the easier piercings to get infected.

i always thought it would be annoying, having a hoop around your bottom lip all the time.

and it's all sort of 1994

Hope you enjoy chipped and broken teeth and moving your teeth back if you wore braces. Im all for things like that. Im putting my kids through expensive private colleges on the expenses related to repairing teeth caused by such body embellishments. So pierce away, your dentist kids will appreciate the semester abroad.

I think it's a very dated mid-90's look. And back in the mid-90's I know one person that developed a lisp after the lip piercing (even after it was taken out), and another that had to have a giant cyst thing removed that formed after it got infected.

I usually don't have a problem with piercings, but the lip ones, to me, never look good on ANYONE, male or female. The person with them seems to be trying constantly not to drool out of one corner of their mouth and they have this perpetual simpering grimace that's just awful.

don't do it. seriously. i did. i had one for about 3 years and it damaged my gums on my lower front teeth so bad that i had to get a gum tissue graft to keep them from falling out. it was the most pain i have ever been in. even with vicodin. it was horrendous and i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. i can try to dig up some pictures if ya like.

I am usually all for body mods, but facial piercings are now in the realm of lame, and lip piercings are rapidly becoming the new eyebrow ring (aka gayer then aids.) Nothing worse then looking like you got in a fishing accident. But then again, we all make our mistakes, at one point I had my ears stretched out to 5/8", 5 years later and I can still fit a pencil throught them.

Well they shrunk a lot, I mean I used to be able to put my index finger through my ear, but they will never close up, and I haven't had any jewelery, minus the occasions where Ill throw in a pair of small CBR hoops, in over 5 years.

I took them out to start playing rugby, just the thought of someone potentially getting a finger cuahgt in there during a match was enough to get them out of my ears.

Also though - ive seen people whose ears havent gone back at all, and have required surgery to fix them, I usually see that only in the Inch + range.

For arguments sake, lets say people that get piercing want to be different (which I dont believe I think people want to be themselves) Do you really think piercings are what the majority of people have/get? I would bet maybe 1% or less of society has a lip piercing. I dont have exact #'s here but I highly doubt "everyone" has piercings other then ears. Certain things may become popular and you might see them more often, but that doesnt mean "everyone has them"

Snacks - but right now the hot piercing to get is a lip piercing, I dont know which commercialized mtv bullshit artist is to blame for this, but im sure you can trace it back to one of them.

I work security at a place that does punk rock shows, so I get a good view of the trends as they are coming about, and the biggest one right now is definitely bad facial piercings. It was around a while back, say late 90s, but now its back with a vengeance. Lots of septum piercings, monroes, snake bites, lips, etc. Whats amusing to me is that most of these are on sub-18 year olds.

As I already said, ive had my ears stretched out, I have a 15 hours worth of tattooing (not saying thats a lot but just wanted to make sure its understood im not talking about a couple of bad chinese letters 1" tall on my ankle), and have friends with more piercings and tattoos then you could ever imagine. The kid asked an opinion, and then posted a picture of himself for a even more personal decision and he got it.

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that something is dated. If youre dad showed up in a leisure suit tomorrow, you wouldn't question it? Times change, and piercings, although they have bene around since poeple managed to figure out it was possible, are quite capable of becoming dated and out of style.

It's not to impress a girl. I don't think her feelings about me would change whether or not I got a piercing or not. She just said she thought it would look good on me and was one of the first people to make me think about it. Or think about it through the eyes of other people.

what did you do?

I was driving home on the parkway in woodbridge. It was like 2 in the morning and I was going way to fast. I realized it, and started to slow down when the trooper almost rammed my car. I pulled over and I gave him my paperwork, and he asked why I was going so fast. I told him my oil light had been on, which it had been though it's an electrical thing if anything, and he started talking shit to me. When he finally finished writing the ticket he came and gave me too. One for speeding and another for having two passengers in the car and for driving between 12 and 5. Apparently my license is still provisional, though it's really not considering I've been driving for over two years.

But it's a bad speeding ticket. I was trying to get home wuickly, and no one was on the road, and I was doing 90. I thought I was on the expressway of the parkway, but I was ont he regular so it was 90 in a 55. I'm fucked.

You were going 90? At night? Easy there Cannonball... you rightly deserved that ticket.

You see? You're young. Lesson learned.

Now, imagine if that cop saw a lip ring on you? He would have given you even more shit.

I can't see how the cop is doing anything wrong. You were at fault and were given two tickets. You could have been arrested or worse.Police really aren't talking shit no matter what they say to you they are the authority and whatever they say goes.If you were traveling 90 miles per hour with two passengers in your car you are risking your life and theirs. I had a cousin killed by a teen age driver speeding after midnight on his way home from working two jobs to support his family. He left a wife and two small children fatherless. So be mindful and take responsibilty for what happened. Its all part of growing up which you seem to be in a hurry to do.

the speeding alone is a 5 pt ticket.
also- no driving between 11pm - 5am with a provisional.
i dont think there are points for that, but probably a surcharge.

10 years ago, i had a 5pt ticket (101 in a 55). it was $525 fine and my ins went from $1900to $4400 a year.

Go to court and ask for forgiveness from the Judge and Officer. Maybe they will reduce the fine and or points! Say your a good kid! Honor Roll help Mrs. Mikeyboy Bring her groceries home. Anything that makes you look good.

talk to the prosecutor for exchange of a guilty plea.
thats all they want.

i lived in woodbridge for 23 years. they are pretty tough.
at most they'll change it from a 30+ mph over (5pt) to a 25-29mph over (4pt)

they like to make examples of young kids driving fast.

Would it help telling them how this has been sucha shitty year for me? Like, how I lost ym grandfather recently, how my niece might have something wrong with her? How I can't feel much on my right side due to my ms? And that I'm an A student in college? And that I'm planning to volunteer at a hospital?

F_S Has Never Seen The Self-Pity Routine Pull Any Weight With The Legal System. How Does Losing A Grandfather Make You Go 90 Miles An Hour?

If Fat Were Going To Court, He Would Take The "Be A Man Approach" And Speak To The Prosecutor And Say "Yes, Sir, I Did It And I Know I Screwed Up And I Am Sorry About It. I Have No Excuses, I Was Wrong. Now, Can We Work Something Out?"

On A Personal Note, Probably A Third Of The People Here Have Had A WORSE Year Than You. The Things That Have Happened To You This Year Are Called LIFE...We Are All Going Through It. Your Life Is No More Or Less Pathetic Than Any One Else. But Your Self-Pity Is Really Going To Hold You Back. Shake It Off And Put Yourself Out There Like Everyone Else!

Please don' try to Bullshit the Court. They will see right through any excuse you give. Come clean and try to use the lenience of the court. If you go in there and start making up excuses that don't hold water they will eat you for Lunch. Think about it they spend everyday in court dealing with every kind of sob story. They have heard it all and i find they don't suffer fools lightly

We all got problems. You think yours is going to make a judge sympathetic?

And how well will it look if you explain that you can't feel much on your right side but you're driving around anyway?

It's not the amount of problems or shit you've gone through that going to make ANYONE feel sorry for you. Who wants to be felt sorry for anyway? It's how you keep your chin up and face it. Deal with it. Admit you made a mistake and you're ready to move on. But drop a bunch of sob stories and that judge will say "Boo-frickin'-hoo" before he slams that gavel.

He almost slammed into the passenger side of my car. I almost slammed into the divider cause I thought he was going to hit me. I'm sorry, but almost getting into ana ccident wasn't my fault. The speeding was. I take full responsibility for that.
