I haven't had a decent night's sleep in three days. Last night, I found myself lying wide awake in bed at 3:00 AM and tried my damnedest to go back to sleep before finally saying fuck it and getting up two and a half hours before my usual wake up time. I did make good use of my extra time by cooking eggs for breakfast, something I never have time for during the work week. I'm currently working on hour 18, and I'm still not feeling remotely tired. I've had problems sleeping on and off through the years, but it's rarely spanned more than a couple of nights in a row. Any suggestions on how to shake this insomnia off? I've tried alcohol, chamomile, TV, reading, crankin' one out... nothing is seeming to help.

I used to be an insomniac in high school and college, and tried plenty or remedies. I found that a good short term remedy was Melatonin, you can get it most GNC or Vitamin Shop type places. In the long term working out 3-4 times a week worked much better. Smoking a joint helped too, but that's not for everyone.

Benadryl, or Melatonin might help.

Smoke a joint then jerk off

After searching for a good insomnia thread, I'm bumping this one, because it has the best title.

And now, I would like to say to my brain...I HATE YOU!

Be a team player! The body wants to go to sleep...the internal organs have slowed themselves to a nice sedentary pace...come on, let's shut this thing down.

I have that same discussion with my brain every night.

It usually decides to comply around sunrise.

You know who rules...the Natural Cures infomercial guy.

He may be the greatest con-man ever. I love this guy!

Whatever you do, stay away from that Ambien shit. I was having insomnia issues and was prescribed it for 10 days just to try to 'reset' my natural sleep clock. While it did put me to sleep, I would wake up feeling foggy and even forgetting things that happened the day before. Scary. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy drugs, but this was bad news.

Turns out my insomnia was being caused by underlying depression issues (which I won't get into), and after I started to treat that, I was sleeping like a baby again in no time.

As was suggested, maybe try Benadryl or Unisom or anything with diphenhydramine in it

Whoa...this dude has a freakin' Debt Cure book out, and the infomercial is some 2nd rate version of the view he set up to 'interview' him. It's hysterical!

He's like the greatest Supervillan of all time. Not only did he once peddle Coral Calcium claiming it cured cancer, but now he's milking debters for some extra sense.

Got to appreciate a good con-man.

Can't get enough of that creep.

Ever since I moved to the East Coast I can't go to bed at a decent hour. Usually I'm falling asleep around 2 or 3 in the morning but getting up around 8:30-9am.

I gotta figure something out.

May I suggest some well placed paint cans on a rope.

as for me I am thinking ether rag with a timed trigger to toss it off my sleepless head. Based on movie titles alone I am ready to bang Billy Crystal if it means I could catch a few z's.
