View Full Version : How extensive is your wardrobe?

Doing laundry today I realized I only have about 5-6 shirts I wear regularly. I also only have 2 pairs of jeans I always wear and 2 pairs of shoes. I own more clothes and shoes, I just don't wear 'em.
How many clothes do you actually wear on a regular basis?

My chick says I have way toomant clothes for a guy, but I actually wear maybe 6 to 7 shirts, and 1 pear of jeans. And yes a barely wash them.

Ehh, about the same.
I have a good amount of clothing that I don't wear and probably never will again, but haven't got rid of yet.
I tend to pear down what I were to my favorite few shirts and 2-3 pairs of jeans and shorts. Then just mix in other stuff as necessary.
I have an extensive collection of soccer jerseys, but I don't really wear those anymore.

i have maybe 3-4 dozen shirts i regularly wear, but this includes dress shirts, polos, tees and button-up shirts. 4-5 dress pants, 4-5 khakis, 2 or 3 cords, 3 jeans. i also have a few suits, but i don't wear them much anymore.

I have two of these in my closet:
http://www.onlineorganizing.com/graphics02Products/DBSProduct_Hanging_Pocket.gif
When I get my clothes back from the laundry, I organize them so that I know what I am wearing day to day for two weeks in the future. I mix it up with other clothes in my closet.
So basically I have 10 pairs of pants and shirts that I have in a rotation, plus six more that I can toss into the mix. I have 4 pairs of shoes that I wear regularly, but several others for nasty weather.
This has saved me a tremendous amount of time. Plus, as I am stacking the clothes, I am laying socks and underwear on top, so I grab and go in no time.

Mine is super limited mostly cause I'm cheap. I blame my mom, who in thinking growing up she was teaching me to be frugal turned me into a penny pinching miser.

Pretty skimpy and with little variety to boot. I have about eight work-appropriate button-down shirts, three or four band shirts that I never wear anymore, a couple of other T-shirts, and five pairs of khakis. I think that about covers it. Oooh, and I'm going to have to buy a new coat this winter.

I have a pretty big wardrobe and am proud to say that in the last year i had to downsize to fit into a smaller waist after getting into shape:thumbup:

I wear the same 4-5 hoodies and 3-4 sweaters regularly. Same 6 or 7 t-shirts and 2 pairs of jeans which i barely ever wash.
I own too much clothing but i have a habit of recognizing when it becomes ridiculous and purge a large majority for the less fortunate. I do this about 3 times a year.
When my boyfriend and i moved in together i had to have him sit down with me and literally make me gives clothes away. I filled about 3 or 4 bags worth of stuff.

I notice a lot of people saying the do not wash their jeans often. If I wore mine twice without washing them, they would get all baggy in the ass.
I must be doing something wrong, ...or I have no tush

It depends on the kind of jean i guess.
Unfortunately, my ass can fill a pair so they get just a little bit baggy but not even close to "dump pants" baggy.
Since I'd rather have a prostate exam than go clothes shopping, my wardrobe is very limited.

I could be like Inspector Gadget if I wanted to. Open the closet and see the same jacket and pants except I'd just ave black T-shirts and black pants or shorts depending on the season.
But I usually will change it up with different shit. I can actually be a bit of clothes whore if I wanted to be. Tons of T-shirts, pants, regular shirts, slacks, jackets, etc.

It's insane, but true.
So, I wear the same 10 t-shirts and 2 pair of jeans in constant rotation.
Tonight is laundry night; my jeans are starting to look a little tired.

I scaled down by donating a lot of old stuff when we moved, but I'm edging in on Jeffs closet now... We each have a double closet, so a double closet and a half after I got rid of everything I never wear. I have at least 40 pairs of shoes. Probably about 20-30 dresses. I got rid of my worn jeans and have about 6-7 pairs I wear on a regular basis. Lots of "going out" tops. I like to shop.

Laugh all you want, but in 5 minutes I have two weeks of clothes laid out and stacked and not have to think about what I am wearing for two weeks. It is one of my better organizational choices.
I work in an office full of women that notice everything.

Me too. Almost all the clothes I own I bought from catalogs or on the internet. I'm lucky if I go to the mall once a year.

Thing I hate about new clothes, once you buy them, all your other clothes look old, even the newer ones.

Macy's was having a pre-season sale on their store-brand Cashmere. . .which is surprisingly nice quality. But I've forgotten if it's online only or in stores too.
On the other hand, you could always try the Land's End catalogue.

I'm worse; I hate shopping by catalog and the internet too.
I'm a very tactile person; if I can't play with it or try it on immediately, I can't wrap my head around having it purchased remotely.
Besides, how else can I prove that something will . . .
- itch;
- have the side-slash pockets "pooch" out because the pants are cut for an anorexic with no hips;
- not make me look like I'm trying too hard;
- not make me look like I'm in high school;
- not make me look like I'm trying too hard to look like I'm in high school;
- have an unnecessary amount of padding in the bust or shoulders;
- have no seaming so I look like a pile of laundry;
- have a dropped waist;
- if sweatpants have elastic at the cuffs. . .
I can go on all day, but Matty hates it when I do that.

That is something that really started irritating me about pants. I got a great pair of BCBG pants on sale that fit perfectly except for the pockets. I took it to the dry cleaners and they altered the pockets and sewed them for for like $10 and the pants are perfect now. I used to never get anything tailored, but now I bring in all my pants and jeans to have them hemmed and the pockets fixed, its a lot cheaper that I thought it was.

The unholy trinity of shopping for pants are the following:
(1) The pocket "pooch" thing .
(2) The inseam length (it's usually a 32" inseam for 'average' or 'regular' pants/jeans; my height is in my legs so I need a 34" inseam.)
(3) The proliferation of low rise pants. (Even when I was slimmer, they looked awful and with my 30th birthday looming large next year, I feel like I'm way too old for that shit!) What's wrong with pants that sit at your waist? Nobody wants to see my undies, thank you very much, and even fewer want to see "bum-cleavage" . . . which, I guess, is the PC way of saying "plumber's crack."

I'm psychotic about my clothes, especially my suits and dress shirts. I'm constantly buying new suits and sport coats. Easily over 30 suits and 15 sport coats and at least 40 shirts. Ten white, 10 blue, and the rest mixed. One spot on any of them...they're gone.

All pants need to be tailored. putting in the extra 10 or 15 bucks really makes a huge difference.

I have a shitload of clothes but I don't wear a lot of them. some of the stuff I have is from high school which is going on 8 to 10 years. My work wardrobe is getting much better. I have about 6 pairs of slacks, about 15 dress shirts and about 20 ties. I don't like to wear the same thing often. I need to get some more ties cause I am kinda sick of the ones I have. For casual I rotate between two pairs of jeans and a pair of khakis, 10 of my favorite tees, about 6 polos of various colors, and 5 hoodies. I like to shop but I am very picky about what I wear so I never rally find anthing I like.
