Hey Budddddddddddys-

So here's the situation:

1) I'm a displaced new yorker in Seattle () - listen to the boys religiously (), feels like home ().
2) Dating a girl who I want to introduce to R&F - I quote / refer to them enough that it's really time that she listens to them first hand.
3) This weekend she's driving home to Portland and I was hoping to juice up her ipod up with some delicious R&F action.
4) So here's the issue: Do I just set her up with all this week's shows and just let her jump into things running full speed? I think I'd rather give her some classic clips or shows that may better establish characters and relationships and be easier to 'hooked' on.

What do you all think?
:help:

I'm thinking definitely the 'Lenay's spelling bee' - I fucking love that bit.
And then...?

THANKS ALL~!

I wish I could help. I tried to get my wife to listen, she's into O and A, but she hates the R and F show.

She just doesn't get Ron's brilliance. That's why I don't make her cum anymore, I just get her close, yell SEE YA, and beat off on her favorite shoes.

i cant get my chick to listen to R&F or O&A. some chicks just dont get it. but i would suggest taking her through the file library to some of your favorite, funniest bits and cross your fingers. whatever you decide, do not, i repeat DO NOT, let her first R&F experience be a sad fezzie show or the 1 year heart attack anniversary show. trust me.goodluck.

Any shows specifically you can think of?
Yeah.. I think I'll start dumping from the file lib...

The first thing she ever heard was guy guyerson and I was so embarrassed.
She thought it was morning zoo.

I don't think you can pick and choose bits like a mix tape. I'd just let her listen to a show and either she'll like it or she won't.

I got lucky with my wife. I started both O & A and R & F after XM. I just told her that I really like these guys and I hope you do too. And she did.

Chicks love Fezzy, so make sure the shows you have her listen to have a lot of Fez in them.

My wife hates O&A but absolutely love Ron and Fez. Everytime she hears Fez cry, she gets sad with him.

anything that you like! whatever you laugh hysterically at! a couple nature boys, if she knows who ric flair is, a couple wnew comedy pyramids, just listen to about 50 random files and play whatever you like to her. i played the anthony bourdain interview for my chick cuz shes in culinary school training to be a professional chef, and she dug that. maybe find an interview with a guest she might like. you know your chick better than me...i assume!

my bf got me into ron & fez by just kind of having the show on in the car whenever we were going somewhere and in the background when we were just hanging out at his house. at first i was like whaaat is thissss show. but pretty soon i fell in love with fez, and then i was hooked and now i can see ron's genius and cant get enough of the show.
your gf may reject it at first or just be kind of indifferent like i was, but pretty soon she'll come around. how could she resist fezzy?

I would drive around with 202 on hoping my chick would get into the show. It never happened and she started liking OnA over Ron and Fez. (not the worst thing ever, but not my intention). So I pretty much started editing the shows to her liking. I'd tell her bits they did that I knew she would like, or lines Ron would toss out that she'd find funny. That started to peak her interest a bit. I continued this little scheme for a few weeks, then one day I got an IM that said "Fez isn't going to get in that coffin!". I knew she was finally down with the show, the plan worked.

It was a key moment in our relationship, I'll stop cheating on her now. :innocent:

My wife was/is the original doesn't get the bit person..try the real simple stuff first:comedy pyramids,Ron's contributions to Fezzie's parents anniversay dinner,Ron helping ESD with dating...ie: short bits for the short attention span,No I'm not saying women are stupid, they just have lots of important things on their minds and need to be amused more quickly.the point being Ron & Fez aretalented, original, professional characters:thumbup:

I got my husband into R&F and O&A when they were on NEW. At first when he heard O&A he asked me "What the hell are you listening to?" He was working in NYC at the time and he would come home when O&A were finishing their show. So when we sat down for dinner RnF were coming on. He looked at me like I was a lunatic. It took awhile but he loves listening to them. I would go the Fezzie way though. Go through the files. After listening to BO today Fezzie sounded so charged up back in the day. When Fez cries, so do I.

I've been listening to R&F since pretty much the beginning and they have become an important part of my day. But when I started dating my current beau a few years ago, I didn't think much about getting him into the show. Out of natural habit I kept referencing the show from time to time. I guess he just got curious on his own and asked to hear them. Now he's a die hard fan like I am.:clap:

My fiancee got me into ROn and Fez just by explaining inside joke to me while we were listening to the show.

Obviously I fell in love.

Oh and I love my fiancee too. Hehe.

I say start her off with a classic from each era and end in one of the latest shows. :)

Here are 4 simple steps to get your girlfriend into Ron&Fez

1. Turn on the radio
2. Put it on 202
3. Place your GF in front of the radio
4. Punch her in the mouth if she complains

Number 4 can be repeated if necessary.

Play her the Mikey D broken dick bit. That was fucking hilarious, my wife was apawled at first, then laughed her ass off. I just started playing it all the time (I record it on my Inno and play it back when O&A is on ruining 202)

The other awesome bit for a wife to get int it is the Jesus playing sports bit. Or for that matter any religious discussion on R&F. We drove from Winnipeg to Toronto this summer and the only thing that made Wisconsin bearable was the non-stop R&F.

Sadly, even if you try your darndedest, i would guess that my incomplete conversion attempts are typical.

As with several previous posts and previouser threads: I agree that compiling some of the upbeat, non-inside ('duh), fast-paced bits are a good bet (then again, so was Fla).

It's often an acquired taste; having someone make the effort must make a huge difference?

For the first few months of my satellite sub, i thought 202 was XM's "zoo" channel. (JN's recent classic "bear" bit or any several of R+F "Vs animal" segments are among many good examples otherwise)

My Wife has been a fan since WNEW days, it was easy getting her into the show. We were only dating a year, but if memory serves me correct, she was a fan and totally surprised me when she knew what I was listening to. This was odd because this was the ronandfez.com show at 11-2am. I diddn't think many listened at that time.

15 hours of R&F clips were added to her Ipod, and she listened DILIGENTLY (she was quoting some bits verbatim!)

I am happy to say that she is legitimately loving the boys. I thank you all for your support in helping me expose this lovely lady for what she truly is: A Good Egg.

Sidenote: Not only has she been infected, but she spread it to her brother, too - rock on.

i was driving to mohegan sun with my grandmother one day and was listening to R&F... at first i didn't notice, but after a while she really started to enjoy it. it was hysterical to listen to an 80 yr old woman laugh at fez taking it in the ass jokes. i guess you either like it or you don't.

"either you like it or you don't" = "either you're worth my time or you're not"

I think the boys are a good measuring stick for someone's character - I can't imagine disliking someone who loves Ron - and I couldn't imagine me wanting to befriend anyone who dislikes the show.

I have always liked R&F back when they were 11-2am and would drive home from work listening but I've just started listening to O&A within the past few months.

Many times I remember driving while listening to R&F and my soon to be ex was like "what the fuck are you listening to" he just never seemed to catch on. When I worked the 11:30-8pm shift my dad and I would carpool (I always seemed to do the driving come to think of it) and he would say your listening to these idiots again but I'd catch him laughing at Fez & then one day my dad busts out his Big Ass Card. He was a closet fan.

My vote (late, I know): Earl's Febreze incident

Last year, we were driving home on the Sunday after the Philly virus show with Mom and Sal in the car. We introduced them to R&F with the Sunday replay of Earl's fainting spell, which happened earlier that week. They loved it, Mom in particular. It's one of my all-time faves.

And in most cases, I know being "Mom-endorsed" is not such a good thing, but my Mom is the exception:

There are some great Podcasts (free also) available on iTunes right now. These might be good because they are between 15-25 minutes on average, rather than have her try and sit through 3-6 hours. You cab subscribe to the Podcast and pick-and-choose which ones you want her to hear. The key to listening to Ron and Fez or Opie & Anthony is being able to tolerate the talk radio format; it isn't for everyone...

Good Luck Brother, and remember.

I'm posting late in the thread (as usual), but my suggestion is to definitely start with best of's of podcasts. For months, I have been telling my chick about topics brought up on the show, funny lines, etc. . . She seemed like she might be interested in listening. Everytime I flipped on 202 with her in the car, it was something about Dave fucking a dog, Soundboard Fez talking about six dicks in ass, etc. . . I turned on a replay one night while we were eating dinner, and they were talking about eating cum out of a guy's ass. She's not a prude, but she did ask me "if this is a gay show."

Later, I would play best-ofs from NY and DC and the recent night shows from the FM channel. She digs those alot more. After a few more months of those, I think she'll be ready for xm again. My advice for best-ofs:
Any bad guest call
Acid Talk
Fez's replay after his trip to Memphis with Elfish
