Listening to Eddie Trunk bash Bon Jovi yesterday was great radio. To hear a guy that supported the band flip on them I found very interesting. The one question I have though is where was the point/counterpoint we all needed to see? Al Dukes was nowhere to be found. He calls the show all the time yet in his bands hour of need he let them get a sound thrashing. Was he hiding out or did an EP drop the ball?

The thing is, everything he's said about Bon Jovi's always been true. They've been a calculated, contrived band since day one.

It's funny to see someone who's been a fan of a shitty band suddenly realize how shitty it is.

I used to dig Bon Jovi in the 80ies.
But... I've been saying this for YEEEARS. He has changed.

He is a boring performer. He simply does not care enough to move around OR to sing with any balls. Nobody seems to notice that he sucks now. They still sell out massive venues and the crowds seem to have a good time but, watch this clip and tell me... is there ANYTHING remotely interesting or energetic going on here? I think not. And I'm not referring to the pre-recorded backing vox. Or the lip-synched high notes. I'm talking about the fact that he looks like he wants to be home watching football.
(it's important to realize... at this point in the show, there was over ONE MILLION people in the audience and JBJ is still phoning it in. It's a damn shame.)

And ever since he took lessons from Katie Agresta, he sings with a weird affect. It f'cking bothers me. "Yewww give laaave. A bad neeem.". What the hell??

Bon Jovi Sucks

There you have my well thought out opinion. About as much effort as Bon Jovi deserves.

Er, never was a fan. Then again, I was like four years old in 1987, so who knows how I would have felt if I had been of the proper age then. I do think that "Shot Through the Heart" is one of the most painful 80s radio staples in existence though. It's right up there with Def Leppard. Ew.

I never liked him, but I'm always amazed at how die-hard his fans can be. When I was working at Ritz Camera in Charlottesville, VA, we had one of those fans as a regular customer. This woman was around 50 years old and would come in almost every day to have prints made of him on the Kodak photo duplicator. She's spend thousands of dollars to go to private "fan club only" shows in FLA. She had him autograph her arm, then had it tattooed. She was even featured on that MTV show "Fanatic".

He did do one nice thing, though. She was seriously injured in a car wreck on the way back from one of the shows. She got a message that Bon Jovi's mom was going to call her in her hospital room. When the call came, it ended being Bon Jovi himself that called.

Man, did I get alot of pussy when "Shot to the Heart" was new and popular. I was a stud in the 80's and that's where that band's music should have been left. Now I am a disgusting specimen and Bon Jovi shouldnt be even spoken in these times.

But, JBJ still makes the chicks panties wet and he has to be like 90 years old!
