A lot of people look to that book for answers and guidance, even to see the future.
These people are really excited about some stuff that they think is up coming, at least according to that book of theirs....

So many frickin nuts out there in the world... the scariest part being that they can actually get high-ranking members of our government to show up to rallies like this.
I gotta go watch this 'left behind' series to see what I'm in for after the rapture. If Kirk Cameron is gonna be part of it, I imagine plently of laughs and good times!

A slingshot can defeat a giant. Your daughters will sleep with you if you build an ark (trust me). An acid trip-esque seven headed lamb will predict the end of the world.

An evangelist makes the claim in one of those piecs that the Bible was correct in predicting the coming of Christ but........wasnt the Bible written after he's adventures. It would seem pretty easy to predict something after it already happened, just ask Ronaldo

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Simple and seems right to me.
the problem with the bible is that it is a poor history text. And prophesy is a poor guide to live your life by.

He's probably talking about the Old Testament.

well, a man can live in the belly of a whale for 2 days, so that's accurate.

The Old Testament, the half written before Jesus, does predict the coming of a Messiah, which Christians believe was Jesus.

Ezekiel 25:17: The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
That one was pretty much spot-on.

Quoted for revealed truth.
Apparently not since God had to send us the Quran via Muhammad.
And let's not even mention Joseph Smith and his Golden Plates.

"God made Eve from Adam's rib"
All babies start out female.
I don't believe in the whole Adam and Eve thing, but there is some logic here, if it were true. Adam and Eve were never babies. If Eve was made from Adam's rib, then she had elements of both male and female in her. Therefore, if all babies start out as female, they also have male genes within them because of Adam's rib.

But if you believe the way we develop in utero to be as "all starting female", that is actually the opposite of the biblical fairy tale, which has female starting out from male. So, here the bible is technically the opposite of being right.
But as mature people. we surely all realize that there was no Adam and Eve. And we also surely realize that babies don't all start out female, which is just as preposterous. Do male babies undergo significant changes as they develop? Of course. But fetuses don't all start with female chromosomes then develop male chromosomes.
The concept that god created us in his image has lately been giving me some amusement. To me it is pretty obvious that we created our respective versions of god in our image. If we were created in god's image, why do we look so different? If we were created in god's image, does an African bushman believe that his god looks European? But they worship Coke bottles, so what do they know anyway?

I don't see how we all "look so different" compare us to the rest of the animals on earth, I can easily determine if an african bushman is human and not a cow.

So what does God look like if we are made in his image? The bushman or me? Why make the differences in human beings?

Same as the scientific reason. Various racial traits are better suited for different habitats.

but youre looking at it with 21 st century eyes
at the time the bible was written im guessing everyone in that part of the world pretty much looked alike so them saying in gods image would make some sense
then as time passes they made up the tower of babel story and the different tongues gimmick to explain the differences
plus as the centuries passed living in diff parts of the world is what caused everyone to look different
hence why northern europeans are whiter and have fairer hair etc then those living near equator for example
