So, we went away on a family weekend trip and discovered that XM has started broadcasting the Holly Channel on 103, even though it's still two weeks until Thanksgiving. Of course, I was outvoted 3 to 1 and was stuck listening to 103, and only 103, for the entire weekend.
Christmas music is OK in small doses, but sweet baby Christmas Jesus it can be torture, especially when your wife and two kids are singing along for two days straight. I would have rather spent the weekend being waterboarded.
Anywho, I realize that I do get some degree of joy out of hearing the novelty songs, no matter how bad they are. I actually catch myself singing along in my head at times. I think it's because they represent a kind of anti-Christmas sentiment that is so sorely need at this joyous time of year. Anyone else enjoy these things, or am I just that big a fag?
Some of my favorites (feel free to add your own):
South Park: "Merry Fucking Christmas"
Lou Monte's "Dominic the Donkey"
How Ya Doin' Boys' "The 12 Days of a Guido Christmas"
Bob and Doug McKenzie's "12 Days of Christmas"
Adam Sandler's "Hanukkah Song"
