These do come with a catch... You have to pay a connect fee, and then 3 months service and then something else fee right up front.

Well, XM is trying to clear out some unwanted inventory under the impression of "free" radios as a means of thanking fans of a show.

What they are doing with this as well as the 6 months for the price of 3 is to increase year-end subs at a time when people are apprehensive about doing so with the merger decision still in the air.

Simple as that. There is nothing free in life any longer. There always tends to be some "catch" to the deal.

Yeah, you have to already own a sub - the online account alone does not "count." Essentially you have to add the radio onto your family plan for at least 3 months, and you may have to pay upfront. However, I am not sure about the upfront money.

If I get another unit it will probably be one of XM's more advanced models and not the Sporty-McSport (or whatever it is called). However, it is nice of them to give us a "deal" for the holidays.

Hate to seem like an ingrate too But they're giving away the radio just to sell the subsciptions. It like getting a free cable box. The things actually should be free and in the near future they all will be. Its the service that is the commodity. The delivery system is inconsequetial.

Yeah, I just called and talked to 2 separate people, and if you listen online, that doesn't count. You have to pay them up front for 3 months of service - even though I ALREADY PAY FOR SERVICE.

No offense to the buddays, but it's a big crock of shit. If I have to pay you to get something, it ain't free.
