ZMAN's 2nd Appearance Tomorrow on XM Radios’s Ron&Fez Show!

Thursday, December 20, Tommy Zarzecki will infest the Manhattan XM Studio once
more as he has been invited to appear as a guest on the hit radio comedy talk show,
Ron & Fez. Of course he’ll talk cigars and a host of manly issues that affect our world
today! And, he’ll be giving last minute Christmas gift advice for that stogie lover in your
life, courtesy of JR Cigars.

Don't forget his blog on www.jrcigars.com. Go there NOW or else!

A few of you guys are truly jerkoffs sometimes. This guy was nice enough to interview Ron for that winter cigar magazine, and they both became pretty cool buddays from what i learned.

All i can say is WOW.

I appreciate true fans and those who genuinly care about The Show, especially Ronnie B.
In general, when i feel someone had a bad day on air or just doesnt do well, i bite my tongue. I'm not much the type of person to type negative press on a board where others may be influenced.

In this case i actually do enjoy cigar talk, especially from Tommy since he knows his stuff. I am a cigar lover. Although if i didnt, i'd just keep my mouth shut. My upbringing taught me that if i didnt have anything nice to say, to keep my mouth shut.

Not my style budday, sorry. But please continue to be yourself, God Bless.

Well, aren't you trying to influence others by pumping up his appearances?

So no one here is allowed to comment on the fact that they thought he was boring last time?

Well, aren't you trying to influence others by pumping up his appearances?

Boon, your sorta making my point. All these boards are natural influences regardless, and i would personally rather bite my tongue then to write something negative about someone who helps the show in a sponsored way, or just by putting energy and love in thier direction. And i dont mean "lie" about someone, i just simply mean stay quite "if" i dont like them. I make sure to use constructive crit whenever i'm dissapointed if i have to reply, as to ensure that anyone reading is influenced as little as possible. At least thats what i try to do.

So no one here is allowed to comment on the fact that they thought he was boring last time?

All i was saying is that "some" posters are real asses sometimes, and then posted my point on things. I was not trying to stop anyone from flaming. Shitting on someone can't be misconstrued brother, its always gonna be just that , shitting on someone. And i think it's wrong. This happens on all boards, and i will always speak my mind when i see it being done, even if it gets me more flaming. So be it. Just not my style.

Everyone has thier own style. I think i still said it best when i said " if you dont have nothing nice to say, its best you bite your tongue". If not, i reserve the right to call you an asshole, the same way you reserve the right to say your negative comment.

It's discouraging to read and hear and he doesnt deserve the bad press. Noone does, when they "try" and help the show. Just my 2 cents.

Flame on! lol

You act as though the show your refer to in this very post "bite their collective toungues" with bad guests, bad crew and hell even fans. If they only kissed ass all day then we'd call them Don and Mike and move on to another show. And aren't you breaking your own rule of life by reserving the right to "call you an asshole" bc you disagree? We all have our opinions, so what?

Plus, to say you usually have ulterior motives is one hell of an understatement! I like you Chris, but you're way off point here calling these guys out for their respective opinions on guests. Hell, even Ronnie himself messed with Z a few times about being boring. So what? Calling out Hbox, Boonie, Ramone and Hippo for an honest opinion is insane. These are some loyal, longtime/hardcore fans to say the least.

Hey guys, I understand that some of you may not dig cigars so you thought that was boring. I'm cool with that. I think "radio cancer" is a little rough, but hey, I can take it.

I respect what guys have to say, especially when they have 7, 8, and 11,000 posts. You guys are long time-hard core fans who feel you are protecting the integrity of the show. I have the EXACT same kind of fans on my site as you guys and THAT I appreciate a hell of a lot.

It's a fact - Ron LOVES cigars. It's a HUGE passion of his. I have been a fan of the show for ages and decided to pitch the editor of Cigar Magazine to do an article on Ronnie. The reason is that I feel that Ron is such a massively underated talent and Cigar mag has a quater million reader base that I knew would love him. So, the bottom line is that my motive was to really spread the word about Ron (and Fez) to a whole new audience that I know would become his fans.

Now, am I really such a bad guy for doing that?

Ron and I have become pretty good friends in the last few months and I have never met a cooler, more sincere guy who happens to be the funniest motherfucker there is.

Listen guys, I have a cigar gig and that's Ron's love, so maybe you can cut me a little slack. If Ron thought I was boring he wouldn't have me on, I'm pretty sure of that. I'm a big R&F fan and I think YOU GUYS are probably the best fucking fans in the world. I have NEVER seen more loyal people in my life.

Hey, just remember, I do this stuff for a living and when I'm on the show it helps feed the wife and kids. I will give you brothers a nice shout out today if I can.

Later Buddays,

I think this is more a rift bt some members and a little rip from some hardcores. No biggie, bc you can't please everyone so just be yourself. I'm a mid-level cigar man myself (meaning I usually only smoke them on vacations and other special occassions like golfing or poker) so I always enjoy the talk, but also can see where others who aren't into it would find it boring. I hate NBA talk on sports radio but it doesn't mean the guys who like it are idiots. Just roll with it, people just like to put their ideas and feelings out there and I can't blame them.

Are we not allowed to say anything negative anymore? And it goes beyond just that the topic isn't your thing either ... I love the interviews with Chef's / Food Network personalities, but Alton Brown was bad on the air ... so much so that Ron has mentioned how bad he was on air. Is Ron calling Alton a dick any different than someone here saying they're not in to Tommy? Sometimes it just isn't your thing and that doesn't make you an asshole for criticizing.

Welcome to the board, Tommy. If some people don't like the cigar talk, so be it. One of the reasons I like the show so much is that it can go anywhere at any time. You really never know what direction it will go in. I don't think everyone is into all of the topics and guests on the show, but we still love the fact that the show is free and open enough to cover all of those areas. Some people weren't into the interview with indie-director John Sayles yesterday, while others were fascinated. Likewise, some people turn the dial when Dave starts screaming for one reason or another, while others think that's a highlight of the show. If there's a topic or guest that I'm not into, I usually am not one to publicly criticize, but that's my personality rather than being some kind of message board code/moral guideline. It is a message board, and people will discuss whether they like it or not. I do feel that you're getting it a little worse than you would otherwise because of carryover from some bad blood between ML Chris and a portion of this board, so take that for what it's worth. Ultimately, don't take it to heart what a few people on a message board think. The show is so varied that you can't please anyone all the time. If there are a few vocal people not digging the segment, there is definitely a less vocal audience out there who did.

Zman, I did find your spot boring at times, but if you are interested in some more indepth critique, I'm happy to offer it.

I personally didn't mind the cigar talk. I actually found it interesting as an occasional smoker, and I made a trip to the JR in East Hanover or wherever that joint is on Route 10 after your spot. Good stuff there. I don't know if you could sustain consistent appearances talking cigars, but I'm open to most places this show goes.

Where my interest waned was in the lifestyle talk, where to borrow a phrase from elsewhere in the thread, it came across as you trying too hard. Its a fine line to fine tune this, I'm sure your personality carried you to where you are, and you are who you are to an extent in life. If you had a little more precision in your statements rather than just carpet bombing lifestyle information, it might be more effective.

Now, bring on the inevitable "who the hell are you some guy on a message board" schitck, which is fine and valid. You have no reason to take our feedback or change a thing.

I did respect your decision to post and you conducted yourself like a gentleman here, which I appreciate, so I figured I'd offer some feedback other than "you were boring" or "you suck". Take it for what you will and what its worth.

Break a leg today!

There should be zero bad blood, there is none on my end. This bad blood seems to be only happening in 1 direction MB. On my end, i'm just waiting patiently for it to end :)

And for the record, i was only defending Tommy because he emailed asking me to post his intro on all boards, and when he saw this board's replies he was pissed in an email to me. We went back and forth via email a few times and he was wondering why people would do it in a way where it wasnt just a few digs. I was helping him understand as well as you just did.

I "get " the whole show. I know they can go either way, and i was only making a point to give my input on how i handle bad press on message boards. I did not dissrespect anyone, nor try to stop them from flaming. I have always made it clear how much this message board's fandom mean to me, and how it is the board of the show.

I think it's also time to admit that the cigar reference went over my head as well, and i am sorry if you guys assumed i was claiming you werent show fans. In no way do i assume your not good fans, in fact i idolize many of you, even the few assholes:).

I think it's real scumbag move to constantly claim and post that i have a hidden agenda, or any ulterior motive. I just want you few sceptics to know that i am always 100% honest about when i am doing something as a business sponsorship for plugs, and when i am giving from the heart to the fans and community for the love of the show and it's fandom. There is NEVER a hidden agenda. Same like Tommy, i am not only here as a fan and board member, i am here as a sponsor with a business that feeds my family as well. Frenchy and the baby included.

Let's end this fued please. I love you guys.

PS: I also defended Zman because the comments hit me close to home, i also stink on air sometimes, lol

I was fine with the Z man interview, and I don't have any bad blood with you Chris ... but I do have to disagree with you on this ... 4 people commented about the Z-man's previous interview, and none of the comments were personal, harsh, attacked his family or anything stupid like that, and you came back calling them Jerkoffs.

"that guy sucked last time he was on"

"ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZman"

"Ugh"

"Step1: Give Ron lots of Cigars
Step2: Leave Studio
Step3: Receive Off Air thank you from Ron"

are those really Jerkoff comments? Or some fans who post on a board expressing their opinion? In an earlier post I mentioned that I didn't like the Alton Brown interview and if I heard he was coming back in, I wouldn't be all that excited for it ... and I love his shows. Do you think that there should never be a negative comment about anyone on the air? I am just curious if you really think these comments were that harsh?

I did answer that a few times. No, i dont think there should be no neg comments. I was just defended a friend who i got close with that expressed that he was upset with the comments.

I guess i over reacted, and once i got the cigar/cancer joke myself and read some responces, i realized it myself. Sorry buddays.

We really all have our own way of expressing we arent happy, or we dont like something. I just choose to bite my tongue usually as apposed to post it on a board. I do like fun flaming though :)

But when I saw that he posted not once but continued to post here, I was really impressed. This shows he really cares about his performance and what RnF fans think of it. I have a lot of respect for Zman because of this.

That is a pretty nice thing to say, bro.

And "acclimated" is the right word. For those who think I'm trying "too" hard, you have NO IDEA what it's like in that studio. It is a rapid fire, free-for-all zoo and it's hard to even get your words in. Ron, Dave, and Fez have this uncanny timing with one another - there's an unbelievable rhythm going on in that room and even with a second time in there, I was still learning their pace. They are consummate professionals and if you don't keep up with them in there you'll die.

To the guys who are critical of me - if any of you ever get a chance to be in that room behind that mic, you'll know what I mean. I'm a comedic writer and admittedly haven't been on the air a lot. But Ronnie loves cigars, is very happy with the article I wrote about him, and we have become friends. He has returned the favor by having me on the air and I'm pretty grateful.

And I'll say again that I am so fucking impressed with how incredible and passionate you guys are. Just gimme a chance to fit in because I love that friggin show.

Thanx Guys,
Zman

Love your passion Zman, but many of us HAVE been in the studio with Ron and Fez. Some of us for 6 or 7 years.

Maybe your over enthusiasm comes over as "trying too hard" as I've accused you of doing, but we're such fanatical fans that we get upset with anyone who talks over Ron or Fez or tries to dominate the conversation.

I think the idea between Dave and I was more of who could suck the most and keep their composure. He is a veteran on that show and I didn't stand a chance - especially when Fez said I sounded like Judy Garland (THAT was hysterical.)

The biggest problem was that the girls are to young and didn't know who any of the remaining impressions on my list were. If they didn't know Reverend Jim from Taxi, they sure as hell didn't know Fred Sanford and Cheech and Chong, etc.

But you're right, NB, I should have hung in to finish - But Dave was on a roll so I let him go with it.

Here's an honest suggestion: Have some thicker skin. There have been better guests than you who have gotten more and worse things written about them on this board. You shouldn't get bent out of shape because of four fairly middling negative comments. You could genuinely kill on the show and there would still be people saying negative things about you on the board. You can't satisfy everyone, even Ron and Fez can't do that.

I miss that friggin show, big time. It's the only thing that has ever made New Jersey "cool" to the rest of the country.

I'm in north Jersey - Jefferson by Lake Hopatcong. Just wondering where you were from. Went to West Milford High School.

Welcome to the board. I'm on the other side of town in Milton. You still have time to swing by and drop off my birthday cigars.:innocent:

I've only been to the JR's in Paramus. It's pretty sweet. How do the other ones measure up?

Whippany is the main office for Jr and Cigar Magazine. And it's the largest indoor humidor in the world. 8,000 sq feet. The lounges and the bar is beautiful. It's practically my second home.

I can't do it nearly as much as I would like to.

OK a little about me for "getting to know you" purposes...

I'm a lifetime Jersey native. I turn 49 on Dec 30. I have a 16 year old girl who is 20th in her class and on the HS swim team and a 12 year old son who plays on the Ramapo Saints Pee Wee A Travel hockey team and in the summer lead the Jerfferson 12 year old allstar team with a .620 batting average and an .818 on base percentage. In April I'll be married 20 years to my wife Robin. I love hockey and played on the NJ Rockets at 19 and we were the United States Junior B National Champions. I also love football and baseball and I golf. I owned an ad agency outside of Manhattan for 20 years with fortune 500 clientele. For the last 3 years I have been a freelance writer. I have been a huge fan of R&F for years and pitched the Cigar Magazine story to the editor and it happened very nicely. Another great article I did was with Frank Vincent of the Sopranos.

My son Tommy picked out the McFarlane Steve Carlton for Ron.

Oh yea, and I'm a MILF fanatic.

Hey ZMan, I didnt read this thread but I heard you on the show. I think you had a few good impressions. The Marv Albert was right on. You just have to see that the bit developed into what it did which made it histerical. I know you have pride in what you do, but you have to see where the bit was going which made it alot funnier then just an impression contest.

Just let Ron and Fez do what they do and roll with the punches. They arent malicious, they just know how to do radio. So your bit was fantastic, just next time thicken your skin and let the magic happen. You did great.

You are 1000% correct in your assessment, bro. Ronnie and I hung for a few hours afterwards and he told me that the humor was coming from the fact that I was getting ripped off in the voting and that the better guy was actually getting crushed. He was disappointed that I gave up - as was everyone else. I've actually won 2 impression contests in bars with my Marv. I told Ron that what happened was that my ego (pride) took over and I was swimming up stream instead of going with the flow.

Thanx for some VERY nice words. Being on R&F is HUGE for my writing career. After my first appearance the hits on the blog quadruppled and that won me big kudos at JR.

To be honest I only heard the first time Zman was on. I wasn't a huge fan, but also I knew it was his first time on with the buddays, let him get acclimated.

But when I saw that he posted not once but continued to post here, I was really impressed. This shows he really cares about his performance and what RnF fans think of it. I have a lot of respect for Zman because of this.

I'll second that.

That's just fucking bullshit. I'm in here because I love ron and fez and I think the sites dedicated to them are great. I like yakking with people and the fans are incredible. Don't make it any bigger deal than that.

Oh come on z, post 1 thru 35 are all in this thread. Think before trying to change history. This battle you won't win.....especially against puffy vag pants.
