Help! My house is filling up with skunk stink! What should I do?

I went to throw out some recyclables in the garage and I first smelled it. I figured that there must have been one right outside the garage doors, so I just went back in the house. Then I just went in the basement, which is on the other side of the house, and it smells pretty bad down there too. Now it's slowly seeping into the living quarters. I have a pretty bad cold, but I can still smell it. I'm picturing my house surrounded by skunks like the birds in that Hitchcock movie, The . . . oh never mind.

Check for a leak somewhere dank and hidden. Smells of rot, mildew, and decay don't go away easy. It could also be some dead rodent that crawled somewhere out of reach.

Get your house really open and get some fans in there. If it doesn't help for long, it will help you zero in on the source.

Did you check to see if a skunk got hit by a car on a fairly close road? These little fuckers are always getting hit and it stinks up the neighborhood for a few hours. Maybe one got hit and crawled under your house with a leaky asstube.

Do you have any pets? My ex had a dog that got skunked then rolled around in the house, it reeked for DAYS. Either that or there is a dead skunk in your wall or basement somewhere rotting (NAST). Call one of those animal trapper people, they may know what to do
