I don't really have a dog in this fight, for a number of reasons.
But I do agree that calling something a "unity" party seems to be a loaded proposition. If someone doesn't want to go because they don't like certain people (which everyone does, and it not a big deal), then someone can say that person is against board "unity."
I think unity can be a goal but just say that you're having a party, inviting everyone from any boards, and that at least from the party thrower's perspective, no one is not welcome because of past squabbles.

The main reason I'm putting the question out there is because of the comment made that it's 10 people railing against the party. I believe it's more than that, but put a poll out to see if I am wrong.

There's no need to force unity on people who are resistant to it. Everybody likes a party, so why not just call it a cross-board party? People who want to hang out with people from a different board can do so, and people who don't can stay at home and bash the party on their respective board. Everybody wins.

The way it's been presented hasn't been "board unity" (should have used that term), but rather a "unity of the boards" in recognition of the shared appreciation of the Ron & Fez show.

You never heard from my mouth that only 10 ppl are against this party. Somehow your relating my "10 people hate me" to the comments Dave said about people being against the party.
I can care less either way, just pointing out the innacuracy in the Poll Title. Also:
1. Saying 10 people hated me was a figure of speech really, just like when Dave said 1 or 2 ppl like me ONLY, when i guess the only 2 called in. I didnt actually mean 10 exactly hated me.
2. I am well aware alot of people do not like the name of the party and it's implications. You dont need a poll to prove that. read the other threads on the board about it.

I never really understand why there's so much drama online.
There's drama online, because there is drama in real life. I think there may seem to be more drama on a board, because communicating through posts is not as good as oral and visual communication.
On a post, you can't disern sarcasm, like you can from hearing or seeing someone. On a post, it's easier to misunderstand people's intentions or messages. Plus, because we're not actually talking in person, and using real names, people are less socially inhibited from saying things they would not say in person. Look at the insults someone made about Silera a week or two ago. That person in all likelihood would never have said that in Silera's company.
These types of thing lead to various drama all the time.

Drinking party -
Socialist Party -
I see no need for this messageboard "Unity" concept. What makes the boards different also makes them interesting and unique. Occasional conflict between the boards is inevitable but it also brings out creativity and some of the most interesting threads ever posted.
Have a party for a party's sake but don't try and attach some kind of ethos to it. Then it just becomes a joke.

Just clarifying my point, and what I was trying to clear up w/ the poll.
25:08 "I would say 5 people on the message board said that" (that they don't want a unity party). Not a poll about who hates who, a poll about the party/unity idea.

Can we add a poll option for:
"Who cares - They are just message boards and I am a fan of the R&F Show"
or
"Just let the popular kids fight it out themselves"
This really comes down to a few vocal/visible people being pissed at each other and speaking for others.
Throwing a party is great - More power to you Chris, and thanks for your efforts. There are just too many arguments between factions of "popular people" to make unity possible, but who really cares?
Just enjoy the show and socialize with whom you please. :bye:

But the poll is just exacerbating the issue; most of us aren't involved in this battle in any way. The poll is essentially a way to say "I am right; you are wrong."
Missy - I am not trying to attack you. This just seems like a non-issue to me. A few people have a personal beef with each other, and that will happen anywhere.
However, the rest of us have been pulled into it because individuals are speaking for groups/boards. And I'm not saying just you; Dave is doing it on-air and we have heard calls from others as well.

i heard the conversation with you and MLC on the show... i think the MLC personna, the fake Mafialife stuff mixed in with just the manner in which he speaks is a turnoff for some people. if he was into selling flowers or something like that people would view or think of him differently
so on top of that him trying to be a peacemaker for " adults " is offensive to them adults because pretty much in layman's terms it's like " well who the F are you ". we're adults and we'll make our own decisions and go where we want to go and for the reason's we want to. if you want to organize a party fine, just call it a party and let " adults " act as they want to without any pre-determined suggestion on how they should act

Let me offer this question to ML Chris.
What benefit and/or reason do I - or any others in my position - have to go to this party? Let's start from there.
Your girlfriend hates my guts. My distaste for her is quite strong. My wife's distaste is even stronger. You've encouraged hateful statements about me on your website. I'm banned from Wackbag. I've never lifted a finger to go to any party except official events and/or RF.net events (or Silera's birthday party and NYE party, which I couldn't attend).
I don't know most of the people, and most of the people already have a clouded, biased opinion of who I am.
Does the fact that I don't go to this party make my fandom of the show any less? I don't think so. And as I said before, because the character of a portion of the fanbase is questionable, I don't want to hang out with them.
So let's start with that simple question: What benefit is there to go to this *specific* party?

I say Unity is for fags. I post here bacuse every other board is choc full of clowns. So why would I want to party with said clowns if I can't stand their opinion in the first place. Will seeing these people in person make me wanna not hate them. I'm sure it will infuriate me more. Stop trying so hard sir. Embrace hatred!

I totally agree with you on this Eli. The big problem today is that everyone want's their credit, fame. This to me was another case of this. I may be wrong, but I've weighed all the facts and past as I know it.

Although the origin is not what it seemed, regardless how some try to spin it. I had good intentions.
I'm done here, have your fun!
It's redundant. I never debated that people are against a cross party unity. I was only debating that people dont "hate" me.

So let's start with that simple question: What benefit is there to go to this *specific* party?
1. We all have people who dislike us at any events, even if it was the Big Ass Bash, RonFez.net Xmas Party, or The Unity Party. This party will be no different despite the "name" of it. The only few who are disecting the title are those that needed a reason to shit on it for one reason or the other, which is there deal and acceptable in my eyes. People feel the way they feel, i'm not trying to change opinions. Not 1 of my posts or replies was ever geared to try and change anyone's opinions on why or why not they want to or not come to this party. Nor was it to be any different then one of those above said parties. The name sparked off some drama thats all. A party is a party. Everyone finds thier crowd hangs out, has a great time and is happy.
2. As i said to Missy in her post and to the few others who try and manipulate this as if someone is taking attendance. It's all in your head. I wont be taking attendance, i dont personally care who comes to the party. Ron and Fez are putting it out there and whoever comes will have a good time. You will never see a post or place where i say anything negative or judgemental about someone who doesnt make it to this party for any reason, including those you've stated. Hell, i'm not even debating the name was a bad idea.
Overall, it's a party. Whether u like the name or not, it's still a party backed by the show. The same type of party all parties are like. If you want to attend and can you are all welcome. If you dont or cant, thats all fine the same. To each his/her own.
And the fact that i own a diff board about the same topics doesnt mean i dont enjoy socializing with all people at events or even posting on all boards that love the show, especially this one. I love everything Ron and Fez.
I hope that answers your redundant question.

:bye:

I do agree with Ron when he brings up how much cooler it all seemed when there was the one board, and ultimately no matter how many boards pop up, by virtue of the history and relationship, ronfez.net is the mega-mother board - things are different today, so it should (and has, thanks to Mikey and Jon) always put forward the spin that it is secure enough with all fans messageboards.

i really don't understand all of this unity stuff. I listen to the shows for the shows, not for some fucking webboards.
if this is about getting back to 1 or 2 webboards, then ok....sounds good.
I guess if I lived closer, I would actually care more....too much going in my life than worrying about which webboard to post on and who posts on it.

the idea of unity is laughable because usually when you want to unite 2 parties or more, you need an unbiased mediator to do so - MLC & others are the ones that everyone else seems to have issues with, so him calling for Unity is a joke - then to do it under the Ron & Fez umbrella as "fans of the show" makes even less sense since the one thing everyone can agree on is that Ron & Fez are hilarious so why is unity in that regard even needed?
There are reasons why more than one board exists - they all have a purpose. Not everyone has to like each other, if they did there would be no point going to the boards at all because it would be a borefest.

I've been lurking around the boards ((because I'm a loser and have nothing better to do)) and happened to talk about this with a friend at work. I told her how I miss the show and stuff, since I'm not able to listen at work, and how the fans generally don't get along. Her question was "Why don't they just get along since they're all fans of the show?" I knew an answer to that would require an extensive amount of history going back to thousands of posts to locate the various infighting and issues between everyone, and there would be no way to really account for every detail.
For myself, I've met a lot of amazing people because of message boards for Opie and Anthony & Ron and Fez. I've had good memories and bad, said some things I shouldn't have and thought of other things I should have said. There are plenty of people I wish I knew better, and wish I could be better friends with, because in my opinion I think that they are good people. I was on one message board before I was 16 years old, and I've essentially "grown up" with a lot of people here. Maybe I don't understand all the things that have gone on over the past few months, and maybe I just look at a lot of the drama as pointless.
So, I guess I'm for the Unity Party. If you can go, then go. If not, then don't go. Talk to the people you want to talk to, avoid the people you don't want to talk to. Its not impossible.

Yeah, me neither. Actually, scratch that I think I got one chicken finger or something right at the end.
My take is this: I'll go to this party if I can, because I enjoy the fan parties and usually have a good time. I don't have any personal problems with anyone, and I like the chance to meet new people, even though I'm a little shy sometimes.
What I don't get though, is that if you're not interested in going to the party, why does the whole world need to know that you're not going? Why not just not show up? If it's truly something you're not interested in, what's the point of posting all over the boards or calling the show about it?
I think that people see something they're not involved in, and that the people running it are people they don't like. Therefore, the idea must be bad and the organizers must have ulterior motives. They want to make sure that it's brought to everyone's attention that they are not going. They're guaranteeing that the discussion will be about them and who didn't go.
And I don't buy the "we'll be called haters" defense. Haters talk shit and bash people and ideas, not quietly and politely allow people to organize their own events. I believe that if you didn't bring attention to it, no one would even notice or care that you weren't there. If someone then gave you a hard time afterwards, you'd be well within your rights to defend yourself, of course. But if it's not your event, and you're not going, there's really no valid reason to bash it- other than to stir trouble or bring attention to yourself.
The more threads like this pop up, ad nauseum, the more the idea seems like a good/necessary one. But all this is just one member's opinion.

Why don't you just post what you posted on STI, and say people are against the party because "we didn't didn't think of it first", which is a ridiculous statement in my eyes. You've been on this board a long time. Do you think that's truly the case here? Are all 74 people who voted "no", sitting there steaming (dammit, I'm jealous, I should have planned this myself!)?
MLC has every right to plan this party, I have every right to say I think it's an idiotic idea.
I'm no attention whore, lets get that straight. I've called in the show twice in about 2 years, once w/ the Hassan/Jeff thing, and once with this party BS. It was infuriating to me to hear the passive-agressive statements like, we hope everyone AND THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS attend. I understand that that will now be spun to say "YOU'RE READING INTO IT! I WANTED EVERYONE AND THEIR GIRLFRIEND/BOYFRIENDS TO COME! But putting the emphasis on that statement? Really. Who do you think is being referred to, who got shit all over for not going to other parties? I found it really hypocritical that this party was planned by someone giving out someone else's SSN the day before.
After the Babyfuck party SEVERAL people got shit for not showing up. It happens and it's ridiculous. So setting up a "UNITY" party, and then making a big deal about EVERYONE SHOULD GO, HIGH ROAD PARTY PEOPLE... what is that going to make the people that don't go look like?
This poll was posted due to the constant comments of, oh it's just the same 5 people bitching over and over... I felt like an asshole for speaking for .net when I called, and it looks like they've spoken for themselves. A crapload of people actually do agree with me.

It's not about going or not going. It's about the false pretenses that the party is being held under. THAT'S the main problem.
If Chris and Frenchy wanted to have an STI party, there would have been no problem. The BabyF party went off without a hitch, so did the RF.net Christmas party, and I'm sure there have been other board events that featured other groups that were drama-free.
Chris and Frenchy - who are neck-deep in drama - decide a throw a party - with the underlying message being "If you're not with us, you're against us." THAT'S the problem.
Even with the court of public opinion telling Chris that this is a bad idea, he persists in doing this. If he dropped the Unity concept and just called it for what it was - the STI/Wackbag megaboard party - NOBODY would take issue.
It's also the awkwardness of the whole thing. Chris is trying to build up cred and positive PR and it's backfiring, and he's too bullheaded to recognize that the further he digs on this, the worse he looks.
I know it's high school drama. I find it amusing. Do you think I go to sleep at night wondering what ML Chris and Frenchy are going to do next? No. It really doesn't mean a lot, I just like commenting on it.

I was trying to remember all that I had posted over there. I figured since this is my "home board" it would only be fair to post something here, as well. I'm not really sure, but there does seem to be a little jealousy involved, if that's the right word. A "we can't let them do something that might turn out well" vibe that to me feels uncomfortable. Yes, I have been here a long time, and I think I've generally been pretty neutral. I like you and Jeff, Alkey and Silera, MLC and Frenchy, and I even usually like Matty. That's why I waited so long to offer up my opinion- as if anyone would really care.
And I don't think all 74 are sitting there thinking anything. You made it easy for them to input by creating the poll.
MLC has every right to plan this party, I have every right to say I think it's an idiotic idea.
Yes, you do have that right. That doesn't mean you have to exercise that right. The right isn't necessarily right, if you get my meaning.
By this time, wasn't Chris and the idea already being shit on and made fun of? I think once that shit starts, he's probably entitled to anticipate what's coming. He knows who's saying what.
And if you didn't go to someone else's party b/c you don't like them, why do you care if they give you shit for not going? Besides that, a lot of the people who didn't go again made a big show about their non-attendance- again mocking the party and the organizers. To what end?
I found it really hypocritical that this party was planned by someone giving out someone else's SSN the day before.
I'm not defending that action. It's not something I would have done. But let's not pretend that the "victim" is an innocent.
Again, why do you care what these people you don't like think about you? You don't like Baby or Fuck, and there was plenty of bashing that went their way prior to and after the party, on air and off. That's one of the big problems here. Both sides escalate, and they tend to conveniently forget what they did to antagonize the other side. BOTH sides.
Again, I believe that if no one had anything negative to say, no one would notice/care that they didn't show up. In the case of this event, obviously, that ship has sailed.
I agree, though, that "High Road" is an even worse name than "Unity."
All I asked was if the board was for or against it.
Why does it matter? Why the need to make everyone decide? If I go to this thing, am I now somehow "betraying" RF.net because only 1/3 of us voted yes? Or b/c I know people who don't want it to happen? What will people be saying about me then?
I also love how if you fucking defend yourself/your family/your friends, you're a shit-stirrer all of a sudden.
Of course, you should be allowed to defend people you care about if they are attacked.
It's not about going or not going. It's about the false pretenses that the party is being held under. THAT'S the main problem.
False pretenses is an opinion. As I said above, it becomes about going or not going when people make a spectacle about their choice. Even if you think it's false, why does the world need to know? (And yes, you have the right to your opinion. You also have the discretion to decide whather to share it.)
Chris and Frenchy - who are neck-deep in drama - decide a throw a party - with the underlying message being "If you're not with us, you're against us." THAT'S the problem.
I didn't get that message. I honestly feel like that came from the naysayers. The "we'll be called haters" defense. Self-fulfilling in a way.
Even with the court of public opinion telling Chris that this is a bad idea, he persists in doing this. If he dropped the Unity concept and just called it for what it was - the STI/Wackbag megaboard party - NOBODY would take issue.
It's not the court of public opinion, though. STI is in, Wackbag is in, RGF is in. There are people here who will go. There are people at FBA who will go. I understand you have problems with the people involved. You shouldn't go if you're going to feel uncomfortable. And the flip side of that is that no one should give you shit for not going.
I know it's high school drama. I find it amusing. Do you think I go to sleep at night wondering what ML Chris and Frenchy are going to do next? No. It really doesn't mean a lot, I just like commenting on it.
That's fine. As I said above, I just don't understand the motivation to jump out and actively campaign against something you're not going to be involved in. And I would think that if one were to take that path, one shouldn't be surprised when some negativity comes back your way.

Actually, that was one of the main things that pissed people off, one of the first things posted by him about the party.
And if you didn't go to someone else's party b/c you don't like them, why do you care if they give you shit for not going? Besides that, a lot of the people who didn't go again made a big show about their non-attendance- again mocking the party and the organizers. To what end?
I care because its a fucking pain in the ass to have people actually come up to your face in person and tsk-tsk you for not going as if you are a child.
Again, I believe that if no one had anything negative to say, no one would notice/care that they didn't show up. In the case of this event, obviously, that ship has sailed.
I can practically guarantee you that Casey would get called out on it. As would .net. At Silera's bday, 2 or 3 people made comments to me directly about .net not going to BF, and people were mentioned by name.
Why does it matter? Why the need to make everyone decide? If I go to this thing, am I now somehow "betraying" RF.net because only 1/3 of us voted yes? Or b/c I know people who don't want it to happen? What will people be saying about me then?
Because I have been insinuated to be one of these magical "5" people that don't want to go. Hey, lets make them look like hater idiots who don't know what they're talking about. This is topical from the show and was discussed yesterday, so why not see if the statement I made was, in fact true?
Of course, you should be allowed to defend people you care about if they are attacked.
Ok, well see my point here. The supposed "mean girls" have only defended themselves/their friends/spouses when attacked. Yet they get lambasted as these mean cunts, or attention whores.
False pretenses is an opinion. As I said above, it becomes about going or not going when people make a spectacle about their choice. Even if you think it's false, why does the world need to know? (And yes, you have the right to your opinion. You also have the discretion to decide whather to share it.)
Well, that's kind of what message boards are about aren't they? Discussing your opinion on matters related to the message board topic in an adult way? I posted a simple yes/no poll. I was a little more infuriated about this considering it all happened a day after these very same people pressing "unity" were sitting in a paltalk room laughing about posting SSN's and trying to get Jeff fired from Foundry. I'm a vocal person and think other people should know the type of people they're dealing with.
As I said above, I just don't understand the motivation to jump out and actively campaign against something you're not going to be involved in. And I would think that if one were to take that path, one shouldn't be surprised when some negativity comes back your way.
I'm never surprised when negativity comes my way, but I reserve my right to defend it, and stand by what I say. I'm not actively campaigning against shit. I made one call in because I thought the idea was lame and self serving, and I made a yes/no poll (Did I make a "Is MLC an asshole" poll, of course not), about something discussed on the show.

I think I am confused here. I thought we were talking about his on-air statements.
Let me say this, if Chris was attempting to antagonize with carefully chosen wordplay, it certainly was not the right way to announce a "unity" party. If he was responding to things that were already being said about him, though...
I care because its a fucking pain in the ass to have people actually come up to your face in person and tsk-tsk you for not going as if you are a child.

Were they giving you shit, or genuinely curious about why you didn't go?
As I said to Matty, I don't think it would be right to give you or anyone a hard time for not going to an event.
If that did happen, I can understand your anticipation of it happening again, but as I pointed out, for BF, just like now, big shows were made by some about their planned non-attendance. That's going to invite a reaction.
I can practically guarantee you that Casey would get called out on it.
I know people gave Casey shit about keeping Dave, a show employee, from attending a show event.
Beyond that, I don't know what was directed at her personally.
Ok, well see my point here. The supposed "mean girls" have only defended themselves/their friends/spouses when attacked. Yet they get lambasted as these mean cunts, or attention whores.
Well someone(s) is feeling attacked. None of you have ever gone after anybody first? Or responded with a larger than necessary defense? Are you sure you're seeing your "defense" objectively? I've seen some pretty horrible shit being posted around that certainly has an "offense" component to it.
I was a little more infuriated about this considering it all happened a day after these very same people pressing "unity" were sitting in a paltalk room laughing about posting SSN's and trying to get Jeff fired from Foundry. I'm a vocal person and think other people should know the type of people they're dealing with.
I'd never argue that wasn't something to be angry about. I'd agree that would be a perfectly acceptable reason to keep you away. I know Babygirl has denied doing that, but I don't know her enough to defend her or know if she's being truthful.
The timing of all of this sure could have been better.
I'm never surprised when negativity comes my way, but I reserve my right to defend it, and stand by what I say. I'm not actively campaigning against shit. I guess that's what I mean by active campaigning. Calling into a national radio show is a pretty big statement. Plus, you've linked yourself with the MG's who have been busy bashing the idea across multiple boards.
I don't mean to seem like I'm picking on you, and you definitely raise some valid points. I've just seen this script before (or at least a similar one), it doesn't end well, and all the negativity (in this cesspool of it!! (Linger Longer!)) has begun to bother me. My attempt to bridge some gaps, I guess.

Look at the way they dress. They were asking for it!

Why would I rape a judge?
I just woke up.
I should reread things.
ANYHOW, for the record, I didn't hold him back from the event... We had just found out I was pregnant and was going through lots of tests.... just wasn't good timing.
