On my way to work, I got pulled over for what the cop said was rolling through a stop sign. BULLSHIT!!! I haven't had a ticket in 15 years (before this cop even had his license). I've been doing deliveries for 6 years. I NEVER get pulled over. I'm the guy who gets made fun of for always going the speed limit, and never running lights or signs.

So, anyway... One of the guys at work says I should fight it. He said he's fought ever ticket he's ever gotten and always had it either dismissed or reduced. So what do I tell the judge? Should I just calmly say that I think I did stop, and then remind him of how good my record has been for the past 15 years?:furious:

My friend who's a cop says they are told to write up more tickets at the beginning and ends of the month. It's all about money.

It burns me up the more I think about it. I go through this particular intersection no fewer than 300 times per year (probably much more). I ALWAYS am careful to come to a full stop, because there are always lots of bad drivers, running children, and police activity there. Not to mention... the stupid cop made at least three spelling mistakes which he had to cross out and correct. If he can't even fucking spell the names of the roads. And one of them was ELM!!! He spelled Elm wrong!!!!:wallbash:

I would definatly fight it. It is very unlikely that the cop will be there for the ticket at the hearing and it will get thrown out. Especially if you drive for a living, fight it! Who needs the points? I have noticed a lot more cops on the road the past month or so and even I got a ticket 2 months ago and I should have fought it. I asked a cop and he said he has not gone to traffic court in 15 years and they always toss out the ticket when you go and the cop doesn't show.

End of the month and the beginning of the next one. They fill their quotas and take the next few weeks off. Who cares if you're innocent or its petty.

I always love reading the insta-cop hate on this board whenever there's a police related story. Warms the heartles of my cock.

Anyway, Papa... I would definitely suggest going to court and pleading your case (aka: fighting it). You havent received a ticket in 15 years, and have been driving professionally for 6; thats gonna count for something. Also, if this officer is misspelling Elm, I doubt he'd be able to give decent testimony, which is incumbent on him if he were to show up. You, or your lawyer, can also point out that due to the several errors on the summons itself, it is highly likely that the officer was also mistaken as to what he believes he observed.

It's groundhog's day folks; get back in your holes.

Don't worry Chris. I don't hate cops. As a matter of fact, every time I saw another cop that night, I said to myself, "Hey. That cop didn't give me a ticket. He's a good guy!"

haha. i know YOU dont hate cops, thats why I'm sorry you got this ticket. Should be the people who just instinctively blame cops in every situation, and of course know all about their jobs and how to do it better than them.

YOU deserve better treatment, my friend. Good luck.

Nothing lately.

And there is this rumored "ticket blitz" here in NJ on the Turnpike, GSP and the AC Expressway. My cruise control doesn't work, so I've been extra careful lately not to go over 70 MPH.

The last few morning on my way to work a Fairfax cop has been stopping people at a four way stop sign for "rolling stops". The thing that gets me is there is a cop standing there watching the intersection and people still roll through and get ticketed.

Whatever.

Can you tell I've recieved a few traffic tickets in my day?

OK, you got me. The innocent/petty part was a bit harsh. But it does make Cops look bad that they do their jobs sometimes and not others. Most other people don't have jobs where they can get away with that.

BTW-Chris, I don't hate Cops. Not even close. I've met alot of good ones and some real assholes, just like any other group I can think of. Lots of friends I grew up with in HS went on to become NYPD. But when your job involves telling people what to do all day long and taking money out of their wallets, don't expect to win any popularity contests. Its just the nature of the job.

when i was a kid i simply paid a stop sign ticket even though i stopped, i had no idea i'd get points for it.

you really should fight it, take the stand and tell your side of the story. Do you know where the cop saw you from? was he watching you the entire time? Just go in there and tell your side and i'm sure the judge will give you some sort of break. Here in n.c. i'm sure you'd get a "prayer for judgement" and only be responsible for court costs. Maybe there's an equivalent in VA?

got a ticket about 6 months back for doing 55 in a 45, and i was doing 55. planned to plea bargain to get rid of the 2 points. went to court, waited in line, and as i talked to an officer about wanting to plea bargain he said there is now, in new jersey, a one time plea bargaining charge of 250.00 along with the fine and court cost. i asked what my other options were and so all I did was go to the window and pay the fine which was 95 bucks and left. my driving record has been clean and i'm gonna risk carrying the 2 points till they 'timeout' which i believe is 3 years.

So, youre assuming that once a cop writes all his tickets, or makes his monthly quota, his job is done for the month? So if someone calls 911 right after he closes his summons book, he can say, "nah..I'm done. i choose not to do my job cause I only do my job when I want...I can get away with that"...? Cmon BullDog, if that is youre real name... Are you telling me that people that work in offices dont have ANY down time? They dont say "I wanna finish this Pinske file before anything else, cause thats what the boss cares most about"?

Most people also dont have jobs where almost every time you make plans for after work, you have to cancel them because some idiot begged you to be arrested, or jobs where youre not guaranteed to leave the same way you came in.

I know it sucks to be given a ticket, or arrested... but do ya think theres a reason, other than revenue, that cops are charged with doing this? Do ya think that MAYBE when they were dreaming of being police officers, the very last thing they wanted to do was sit on a stop sign and wait for someone to not fully stop so they could write em a ticket? Here in NYC, the cops are constantly fighting with the city over the amount of tickets expected to be written. Cops want to be cops, not traffic agents, but guess what? Its PART of their job, and the have to do it.

All I ask is that you treat police officers like any other minority; dont lump them all in with the others, and dont assume you know more about them and their jobs than they do. And dont be so free with your negativity against them. Theyre there to protect you, not to be spit on by you.

When I went to court for my speeding ticket the officer wasn't there, nor was the prosecuter. I stood in front of the judge and asked to speak to the prosecutor and he gave me attitude. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and think that he sees a lot of cases that are fucked up. I jsut wish it would have been easier for me to tell my side of the story. Oh well. Life goes on.

If you drive for a living, I would suggest you use one of the many lawyers that prowl the common areas of traffic court, pacing the corridors like hungry hyenas..If you can't find one, don't fret.. Just stand in one place for :30 seconds and one will find you..They're as aggressive as a squeegee-man in midtown.. They charge about $100..( hit the ATM for some cash before you get to court, even though I'm sure they carry credit card machines in their briefcases ) They know all the very important and somewhat magic phrases and key words that MUST be hit upon durring your testimony..Most if not all cops have a script they memorize and follow for traffic court and since the judge asks the cop no questions, the onus of hitting on every single detail specific to YOUR car stop falls upon the cop...This is very difficult for most officers, if only because they write about 20-40 summonses per month (dirty bastards)... The lawyer will be able to point out any and all mistakes the cop is certain to make in his testimony..Not to mention the fact that cops hate to see a lawyer standing next to the motorist, it's intimidating..Good luck and definitely consider the lawyer..It would be money well spent for a professional wheel-man..Keep me abreast... I'll be praying for you, God hates traffic tickets and if he finds out, he'll ( How funny..He'll is so close to Hell ) hook you up..
One more possibility is, if you're lucky, he has to work the parade and won't even show up to your stupid traffic trial.. As big a deal as this is to you, he couldn't care less wether or not you're found guilty, not guilty or anything in between..A good NYPD officer will do just about anything to get out of going to traffic court..Up to and including arresting a loved one the night before, so they can write up the affidavit with the district attorney instead of going to A.A.B.(traffic court)..

P.S.---- Wear something sexy...Just because you're a guy don't be afraid to show a little cleavage..You never know, maybe Marc with A C is a traffic court judge.. In that case just Whip out your cock and put it on the desk, I'm sure you'll be forgiven for any violation you've already commited or intend to commit in the future..

Yesterday my budday stump12 got his car towed in Southie, their were no signs up, but the police decided that would be a good place to put a barricade up for the parade.

I was also working overtime yesterday and my school goes along the parade route, so our parking lot was packed. I had a contractor there working on the building and he was done at noon, but two cars blocked him in (he found who one owner and they moved). So I called the tow company, and a half hour later they took the Lexus SUV off the lot and the guy got to leave.

Later I get a phone call from the tow company saying the owners just picked up their car and it was keyed front to back and they will be at my school Tuesday to find out what happened. Like I even know.

Tell them someone probably got bothered by some prick with a lexus parking them in. Seriously though that is obviously not your responsibility.

Yeah, the fact that the lexus blocked the back fire lane that had about 15 cars parked legally behind it. Maybe thats who did it.

Someone took their key, put it to the Lexus, and scratched it up. Thats what keying is. Why don't the police understand this simple concept??

If the idiot has a Lexus, I'm sure he has car insurance...its probably covered.

Bad News: My cop showed up. Another cop didn't, and I watched about 7 people have their cases dismissed. I argued my case fairly well, but the judge put it this way. The spot where the cop was sitting is a place where cops sit SPECIFICALLY to watch for people who roll through stop signs, because it's common at that intersection. Therefore, the judge surmised, the cop was probably right, and I was wrong.

Sorta OK News: The judge said I could pay court costs, and my conviction would be deferred until I take and pass an online driver improvement course. Once I show that I passed, I will be found not guilty.

The court costs were $61 and the cheapest course I could find was $45. The two together are a little cheaper than the conviction, and I won't have any points on my license, or have any risk of an increase in my insurance rates.

BTW... I was probably right when I said the cop looked like he probably wasn't old enough to drive, the last time I got a ticket. He looked like he was no older than 25, and had another cop with him. I think he might be on some sort of probation that new cops have, because none of the other cops had someone looking over their shoulder.

EDIT: I forgot to add some observations.

Every Hispanic defendant was there for driving without a license.

Both hot chicks were there for drunk in public and resisting arrest (separate cases).

glad it worked out as well as it did.
I wish.

I'm getting fucked by The Man. I took the boring as shit course and took the certificate to the court clerk. I handed it to her, she copied it, and handed me back the original. I asked her, "So does this mean I'm done with this?" She said yes, and I went on my way.

A little over a week ago, I got a notice saying that my license would be suspended if I didn't pay for my ticket. WHAT THE FUCK?! I called them up and they said they have no record of me ever bringing the certificate to them, and I have to bring it again. I since lost it, so I had to have the traffic school send me another copy. Now they say I have to have another hearing with the judge and convince him that I really brought the first one in before the deadline. And get this.... He's on vacation for TWO WEEKS!

The suspension date is tomorrow, so I had to go ahead and pay the ticket, and hope that the judge will believe that someone in his clerk's office is an incompetent BITCH, refund my 30 bucks for the ticket, and take the points off my license so my insurance doesn't go up.

FUCK!!!

Dumb question Papa Bear, do you have a parking receipt or a receipt from some deli or lunch counter near the court house? I throw everything out, but first it ends up on the floor of my back seat. If so you could prove you were there and argue that it was for the purpose of dropping off the certificate.

Unrelated to this topic but did you ever figure out your check engine light? My wifes car needs an inspection and of course, the check engine light is on. Stupid EVAP codes.

Funny you should ask about the parking stub. I was parked in the garage for a total of 6 or 7 minutes. When I got to my car, I realized I had lost my stub. How the hell did I lose it that quick?

The check engine light is likely the mas airflow sensor, but I haven't gotten around to replacing it. I don't know how long it takes them to do an inspection where you are, but if you unhook the battery for a minute just before you pull into the inspection station, the light will be off for at least a few minutes.

My friend who's a cop says they are told to write up more tickets at the beginning and ends of the month. It's all about money.

No way... they're enforcing code. We've all agreed on how things should be and we've also entrusted certain upstanding individuals to keep an eye on that for us.
