The greatest rockband since the G'NR heyday, despite their peaks and valleys. 92-97 and 2005-6 I would put their shows up with ANY ever done, and I think only the Stones tours of1969-1972, any of the Beatles Shows, Zeppelin 73 and the Who's late 60's shows would really to that period.
The Crowes are outstanding and I haven't looked this forward to a new album since Kid A or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

I've seen the Crowes a few times, always great. Blew away Oasis (cocky bastards) on that battling brothers tour years ago.
Here's a link to a story on MOG (lifted from the Black Crowes site) about Maxim reviewing the album even though advance copies had not even been made available yet:

Maxim is only good for 14 year olds to jack to.
i looked at their tour dates and they're not coming within 4 hours of me so i dont guess i'll be seeing the Crowes anytime soon.

Love 'em. Their last concert at The Beacon before their hiatus a few years ago was one of the best I've ever seen.
I saw them at the new place up in Harlem a couple months ago and I'm seeing them next Tuesday at Irving Plaza! NICE... haven't been there in a long time.

The Black Crowes was the first real concert I ever went to. It was 1990 in Jacksonville, Florida. What a great band they were. And now that they have Luther Dickinson of the GREAT North Mississippi Allstars; its ON!!!!
If you have never seen Luther Dickinson play slide, go see him either with the Crowes, but especially with the Allstars. He is a true Southern-American badass in the spirit of Duane Allman.
I love the Crowes----always have, always will.

What an awesome show last night. First of all, it was great to see them in such a small venue again. I haven't seen them that close up in over 10 years at least. They sounded great and played their whole new album, which kept me in my place the entire time. I really liked it and will be purchasing it today. After a short break, the came back with Sting Me and Sometimes Salvation. Rich Robinson sang a very Dead-ish tune that I really enjoyed. The last two songs of the night - and I must find out what they were - just kicked ass and blew the roof off. And they finished at a reasonable 11:30 so I'm not too tired today. Nice.

Anyone else Catching the Crowes this tour I'm going to Hampton Beach NH and the 3 shows in Philly. If you buddies are going maybe we can hookup. CYA
I got invited to join some friends last night to see the Crowes at Wolftrap (which, BTW, I had never been to in all my years down here. Great venue -- I'm thinking of going back in two weeks to see the Mike and Bruce show...er, I mean The Beach Boys).
Anyway, a perfect night weather-wise and a very cool show. They did a great version of "Remedy" that had a jam that sounded very much like the Stones' "Midnight Rambler". They finished the show with a kick-ass version of fellow Georgian Little Richard's "Keep A-Knockin'."

I didn't know they had Luther Dickinson playing with them. That's cool. I wonder why there was no taping at Irving Plaza. Was it the venue or the band that made that decision?

Meh.
We've had a falling out. With Warpaint, I just couldn't get into any of the songs...they had no emotional connection with me.
And this new record is a cool gimmick (Recorded 100% LIVE in front of a small group of fans at Levon Helm's studio)...but the songs are just nothing again for me. They're trying too hard...and Chris' vocals just don't do it for me anymore.
And for a while I was seeing their shows like crazy. I guess I've just outgrown them.

I lived in Atlanta for most of my teens and twenties.I've seen the Crowes 8 times including 2 club gigs, when Shake Your Moneymaker first broke, where there were less than 100 people allowed in the club. They played as Mr.Crowes Garden.I also saw them at the Great Atlanta Pot Festival.
Still love them today.
