Wow, just cause we listen to a radio show we are expected to buy these people a baby shower gift. Seems very beggy to me I understand that alot of you people do hang out together at some events but asking a listener to buy a $350.00 stroller is a little much. Don't you people have family?

You're not expected to buy anything. In the event that you're so inclined, there is a registry.

No one is fucking forcing anyone to buy anything, and do you think made separate registries for family / friends? I highly fucking doubt Casey is expecting a listener to buy her a $350 stroller.

You really don't know what you're talking about, considering there was shitloads of alcohol there and a full entire basically almost catered spread of food.

I have had the hardest time trying to get together a list of people to send thank you cards to.... Why? because a lot of you just put your first names on the card and/or your board name.
Since I am at a loss of what to do... I am just going to list them on everysite and hope you see that we both loved and appreciated your cards/gifts/well wishes.

I bought Casey and Dave the NY Mets' baby dishes and cups. Just to fuck with Dave. It was a must!
I looked at it this way. Dave is pretty much the reason I got hooked on the show, and now hail Mr. B as the smartest person nobody knows about. And Casey puts up with a lot of stupid shit Dave does. And that makes me laugh. So I wanted to pay them back for all the fun.

While they have nice, decent quality cheap shit....
They also provide little/to no customer service.
I spent 30 mins on the phone with a cust service rep this morning telling them the two items that never arrived and to track them.
They tell me, the person who bought it needs to do that, I tell them it was a GIFT and I don't have that info. They tell me to go fuck myself.

that's how they do it in Europe, all in one machine... or just washer, since they are actually allowed to dry their clothes on a clothes line on their own property (hate the rules here)

Seriously... this is going to dave me so much money it's bringing joy to a joyless day... and I haven't even ordered it yet!
added bonus( a little off colour so hence the wrap)
3. Have your man sit on top of the washing machine while you have sex (you perched on top, with your legs wrapped around his waist). The vibrations carry through his penis, turning it into a wonderful vibrator.
4. Select the cottons cycle for the best results. It's a warm wash so his bum won't get cold, plus it has the longest, fastest spin. Feel those good vibrations.
casey im so happy about your new purchase. i know what it is like having a little one and going out to do laundry...my only thought is just investigate all the different brands...remember the more u have on the machine the more to go wrong...im just wondering if something goes wrong with the washing or drying cycle how will it effect the machine...my daughter is due may 14th..

May babies do rule. My son was due the first week of June and I was always hoping he still would make it in May... sadly he let me wait 11 days.... stinker.
Almost my family are May people.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c395/Devo37/dishwasher.jpg
best thing i ever bought! i use it for everything, including pots and pans, and everything comes out stopless! and it was cheap, too. less than $200!
i highly recommend it, especially since you guys will be pretty busy with the baby in the coming days.

there's a quick-connect gizmo that screws onto the faucet. when you use the dishwasher, you connect a water supply hose to the faucet, and when you're done, you disconnect it so you can use the sink like normal (no permanent plumbing changes).

Why in the hell are people buying gifts for them? Because he's on the radio? Dave is too funny and provides me with lots of entertainment, but come on! Maybe the 30 year old child should quit smoking and save some cash and take care of his family and not rely on Handi-Lift checks? Licking shit off of your fingers for $220 while still dropping $4-$5 a pack defines the retardation that is Dave.

Next year you throw the fucking party and invite 60 people in your home, cook for two days and clean up for another two and tell me how it goes ok?
I had a party for St. Patty's day and had 3 kegs of primo beer, booze, and food and didn't expect a dime from anybody. When I go to a nice paty I drop cash into the host's pocket unless they ask, if they ask I say sure and leave. 60 people? You are a cheap bitch and should not be throwing partys. You suck...period.

I was at Unmasked today and gave Dave some books for toddlers and a couple of wooden toys my dad made. i did this because the couple of times I saw Dave in public he was great to hang out with, so why not give something to an expecting couple.

I sent them a little PayPal donation because Dave entertains me every day. I don't know them personally but the Ron & Fez show gets me through my dismal work day and has done so for the last 8 years, so I have no problem helping out a member of the team. I've got three kids myself (all over 10 thank goodness!) and I can't imagine trying to raise one from scratch these days. Everything costs a fortune! Good luck DC Connection. The good thing abut having a husband like Dave is that he may not notice if you use his toothbrush to clean the toilet :flush: I started a cross-stitch blanket for my daughter when I was pregnant and she is now 13 and the blanket still isn't finished because I hate to do stuff like that but really loved doing it when I was pregnant. Why is it that amazon can give us all the info and they can't?
I really don't get it.
Amazon is based in CA and does not have brick-and-mortar stores, not counting its "partner" retailers (for clothing, groceries, etc.) so addresses are its bread-and-butter.
Target, on the other hand, is based in MN, has hundreds of stores and its website is...disappointing. Addresses are not something they deal with on a daily basis, so their double-blind security measures are a bit too simplistic.
They need a better website team.

I know its really hard now and the worst possible scenarios are running through your head. My wife went through the same thing before the birth of our first child and everything turned out perfectly. Our child was healthy and beautiful.
Your child will be healthy and beautiful.
I will say a prayer and keep a good thought for you and Dave in that this birth will be fast and glorious.
Thanks. I officially haven't slept in four days. I can't eat. I can't think. I am so nervous......

casey, my wife had perhaps the easiest labor that her ob/gyn and the nurse had ever seen.
there was nothing going on, so they induced her. it was 2 hours of contractions, nothing too painful, and maybe 10 min of really bad ones.

No problem, its a crazy time. I remember when my wife's water broke. Ruined a perfectly good couch. Then we ran downstairs to go to Lenox Hill Hospital and I stole a cab from someone who was just about to get into it. He was smart enough not to resist.

They think I have this...
http://preeclampsia.org/
Get your bets in now.... I say they are taking her out thurs.
I am so scared.
This stat is my fave:
Preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading global cause of maternal and infant illness and death. By conservative estimates, these disorders are responsible for 76,000 deaths each year.
Casey, I have the same tendency to get freaked out about things, and the research I do only makes me feel worse about something I'm already worrying over. I don't know if it will make you feel better, but those 76,000 deaths are a worldwide statistic, which takes into account a lot of countries where people don't have access to the kind of medical care you do in the US. After seeing that, I read something on the Mayo Clinic website that said only a few hundred deaths in the US are attributable to preeclampsia each year. Those odds are a little less scary.
Hang in there, and I hope you feel better soon. Everyone is wishing you the best. :)

Doctors will always prepare you for the worst case scenario. During this pregnancy I've had to deal with the possibility of our baby having cystic fibrosis (thankfully he doesn't) and having gestational diabetes (after a month of worrying, just came back negative).
Remember that while you may have a symptom, you don't necessarily have preeclampsia. And even if you do, your hospital and doctor are readily prepared to make sure you and Julianna get the best care possible. The odds of everything turning out OK are very much in your favor.

My doctors had me so freaked out about every little thing. I had to go to 2 seperate ultra-sounds because they told me my kid had dwarfism. Turns out, I'm short, and dad is too. Weird how short parents have short kids.
Then they had to ultra-sound her head because they said it was swelling and possible had water on the brain. Turns out, she just has a big head (I blame that all on her dad).
Right now, she's a happy, healthy, albeit short with a big head, 6-year-old.

Casey,
Everything seems scary at this point, but it will be just fine when she is finally born. We had a baby six weeks ago (as was announced by Fez on the radio :-) ). We had all kinds of weird stuff happen; including my wife Amanda having some random bleeding, loss of mucus plug very early, being dialated up to 4 or 5cms many weeks beofre the actual birth, and was on bed rest for about 2 weeks, and then being off about 3 weeks before Abby was actually born. Then we had a very easy birth with her only being in labor for like 6 hours after her water broke. Abby was born about a week early. So I think these challenges now will be made up for you with an easy labor and great baby!
Good Luck Casey!

Which is what made us all worried. Self-diagnosis when you're already crazy from hormones and whatnot = bad.
You will be fine.
My cousin had Braxton-Hicks with her first. He'll be 6 in November; she has since had twins and a singleton. They are all happy, healthy, normal little boys.
My step-sister had gestational diabetes with her triplets (yes, triplets) and they are now healthy, normal, happy 2-year-olds. My step-sister is fine, too.
NYC & Brooklyn have some of the BEST hospitals in the area. Your new OB sounds like a gem and you have all of our support and <3 ... you will be fine.
Do your best to relax ... maybe hugging your doggie would help if she'll tolerate it?

Once I hit the 9th month, all the pregnancy books, literature, everything went away. I was as prepped as I was going to be, and reading more about complications wasn't going to help me any. So I just sat down, relaxed as much as I could, watched some TV and movies until one day while relaxing and watching said TV, my water broke.
When you're in labor remember, just think about one contraction at a time. Thinking ahead just makes you crazy. And also remember, with each contraction you're one contraction closer to seeing your baby and one less to go through.
You're gonna be fine. While it's hard and sometimes scary, you can do it!

Casey, I know that it's difficult and I have no first-hand experience since my wife had two of the most complication-free pregnancies that you will ever see (first one was induced the second she was in labor for only four hours) but take a deep breath and relax. My wife's uncle is an OB/GYN and he said that the reason that the doctors tell you everything that COULD go wrong is to protect themselves from malpractice suits. That's why the number of c-sections rose a few years ago. A doctor has to be able to prove that he did everything possible to ensure a healthy delivery so if there was any question, they would be quick to cut.

Having a baby is definately an experience that you really can't explain to someone unless they have had a baby as well. My daughter was 3 weeks early, my water broke but I wasn't in labor so they induced me which everyone will say makes labor worse but once the drugs kicked in it was smooth sailing. People go back and forth on the whether or not to have an epidural but I can tell you I didn't have one when I had my son and I did when I had my daughter and I say they make those drugs for a reason  Just take it easy and enjoy this time even though it seems to be scary it is a moment in your life you will never forget also enjoy your last few days of sleep and quiet

How needed is nursing clothes? I bought a nursing bra and its totally making me feel like a Golden Girl.
But I imagine the entanglement of clothing while feeding plays a role?
I may run to target tmw and pick up some cami's or something...
What should I steer clear of?

one of my best friends just had her baby two weeks ago and she is NOT using the nursing bras. she says they just don't fit her comfortably...
the first couple of days were tough nursing.... the baby took a while to latch on. (the plastic covers they can give you in the hospital are a HUGE help btw... they resemble the feel of the pacifier in the baby's mouth so the baby is more willing to suckle and work for the milk....and after a while they will get stronger and adjust to the actual nipple.... just a hint if you are having troubles which is a COMMON issue, from what i hear)
generally, she wears cami tank tops for now while she is home with the baby. it makes feeding easier and more comfortable for her.
What do you guys still need? are you set?

Casey I havent been online in a while so I havent read this thread but from what I know about preeclampsia is that you have high blood pressure and an enormous amount of protein in your urine. Did she officially diagnose you with it? Have you since followed up with her? I can give you all the support you need, if you need it just let me know, I'm here for you. Your Doctor seems to just be doing routine tests from urine cultures and she has to r/o out everything. I'm sure everything is fine with you and Julianna, <3 <3 <3.

my wife says she like the medela nursing sports bras for sleeping in and the motherhood bras for nursing in public. she has one nursing shirt she uses regularly. practice in front of a mirror if it makes you feel more comfortable.
as for the nursing itself, have the hospital's lactation consultant see you as soon as the baby is born. a nipple shield is pretty much a last resort, it mimics a pacifier, which is mimicking a nipple...so it's a pretty round-about way to get back where you started.

I just wanted to tell these two brand new parents how proud we are of your beautiful daughter.
I also wanted to share a couple of tips that may make life easier for you both as Julianna is going to discover her voice very soon if she hasnt all ready.
:help:Get this book - HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK (this book will help you have some peace during your childs infancy. It teaches you how to handle the baby and keep both you and them happy. It was the best investment we made when we had our little girl.
:help:Get this book - BABY SIGN ( this book helps you teach both you and your new kiddo how to communicate once the infant stage passes
:wallbash:Dont buy a bunch of expensive kid toys as you will only end up trying to get rid of them in less than a year, go used if possible. You will be glad you did.
:furious:THIS IS FOR CASEY - The Daddy is pretty worthless until he makes her laugh for the first time. Then he will really connect with her and realize that she isnt going to die in her sleep, or when she eats, and every other intense fear new Daddy's have. Just have some patiance with him as he will become more valuable with Julianna's independance which will be here before you know it.
:sad:THIS IS FOR DAVE - Ask Casey what you can do that will help the most. (As you well know Dave, women are crazy and expect you to read their minds and play the hidden test game. She will be testing you constantly and measuring you up as both a husband and father. She wont understand your fear or sense of helplessness regarding a tiny and destructable infant. She needs you to ask what she needs. If you are lucky she will say "nothing...Im fine".
:wub:FOR BOTH OF YOU - Love each and every phase and moment with your child. Time passes a lot faster once you have a child. You will see it through the copious amounts of pictures and videos you will take in the first 3 or 4 years. Dont forget to get a family portrait annually . Its really important for your child to know you both as we can never predict when our ticket will be punched in life and we will be gone. Get some life insurance now Dave. That is the fatherly thing to do as a good provider.
:clap:FINALLY - Enjoy the magic you created together. You are now connected in a way that you never were before.
:blink:CASEY - Do Kagles (Kootch excersizes) That baby wrecks the honey hole
:nono:Dave - Just stop eating shit for a while.
I am really happy for you both and I wish the best for you guys and your wonderful daughter.
Beez (the concerned and helpful daddy)
