In the last three days I've received five voice-mails from someone identifying themselves as a producer from the show 60 minutes. I finally returned the call this evening. The person I talked to said they are doing a show based on "brownfield redevelopment". This is where an environmentally blighted site is redeveloped and brought back to commerce. This is what I've been doing for the past 12 years. They want to interview me next week for a show that is tentatively scheduled to air in May. I am thrilled, scared, shocked. and afraid but can't fucking wait....

not looking for anything other than to say....I might be on 60 minutes!!!

The title of this thread was going to involve the words "holy shit, holy shit, holy shit..." but I was afraid that foreskin, Asians, fake Asians, Kevin, and bannings would creep in so...what ever...

Thats great news. I still don't see how this is a confession. There's not one mention of midget in the entire post.

This could be huge! Your appearance will trump HTG and Tall James for TV supremacy!

Congrats. I look forward to seeing it.

Maybe you can help my kid with his Science Fair project. Saving the environment is the topic.

I hope for your sake you don't have any skeletons in your closet. Cause Ed Bradley will smack you in the dickhole with them.

If not, then big congrats!

because anyone who appears on 60 minutes is obviously a crook and/or has been screwing the public somehow.

just kidding, congrats envirogator. keep us informed on how the interview goes and when it will air.

Are they doing a story on a specific site that you are working on? I have been researching these for a couple of years as part of my Landscape Architecture education. It's very interesting (and scary) stuff. You can't go anywhere in NJ that isn't affected by these sites.

Update:

I have a pre-interview on Thursday with some producer type. They have asked for my resume and cv presumably for background checks. They are interested in three sites that I've worked on: one in Dallas, one in Kansas City and one in San Francisco. They did not say who will be doing the piece for 60 mins (although I'm hoping for Lara Logan). http://wwwimage.cbsnews.com/images/2007/11/28/image3547418m.jpg

The story is apparently an overview piece with site-specific examples of success and failures and funding issues. The three sites have been viewed as successes and there are no scandals associated with the sites that I am aware so hopefully I wont have to abruptly end the interview and have attorneys issue statements.

This is where an environmentally blighted site is redeveloped and brought back to commerce. ..

Can you give an example of what you do? Do you clean up any toxins of a site and then rebuild?

Yes...we quantify the amount of environmental impact to the site, determine the impacted media (soil/groundwater/surface water) and then remediate or develop engineering controls for the contamination. We try to identify innovative controls for remediation to control our site preparation costs. An example of this is in Dallas. The site had significant petroleum hydrocarbon impact (oils/creosote, etc). The hydrocarbon impact was so significant in the soils that we were able to 'recycle' the soils by using the soil in the asphalt batch for the parking lot. There was approx. 7500 cu/yds of impacted soil which would have cost us about 600K to dispose plus it reduced our asphalt capital costs significantly. Just one example...

60 minutes is big time! Nice Job buddy! I was on "Bowling for Dollars" back in 1975 when my Pop was chosen to bowl. We drove up to MSG, Dad hit the pocket, 9 pins fell, one was screwed into the ground. He picked up the spare and we promptly went to a diner in NJ on the way home to spend our winnings!...Good times , good times...

Update:

I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and evening with two associate producers discussing background information about me, my company and projects. Pretty in-depth questions and discussions of my answers. Talked about different clients for projects, funding, market response, net impact, regulations, etc.

Today they returned with a camera crew to shoot establishing shots (I think that is what they called it) me talking on the phone, walking down the hall, in meetings, etc.

The focus of the story is federal funding of Brownfield sites and net effect diverted funding towards Iraq/war on terror on redevelopment of blighted real estate. Compare/contrast sites that have been redevloped vs. non-redevelpment and the food chain of economic impact for communities....

Next week I will tour a site in Dallas with camera crew and producers for more establishing shots and then I will sit for an interview with the lovely Leslie Stahl some time in the next two to three weeks.

They estimate that my portion of the story will be 20-25% of the piece. No potential air date has been set.

I would like this to be my job everyday....AWESOME!

more updates later...

If so, I'm guessing the interview will look something like this:

http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/4433/anchorman107sh0.jpg

"Yes...we quantify the amount of environmental impact to the site, determine the impacted media (soil/groundwater/surface water) and then remediate or develop engineering controls for the contamination. Unless they found the dead hookers - "one in Dallas, one in Kansas City and one in San Francisco" - in which case the show will be even better.

UPDATE:

So I fly to Dallas tomorrow to meet with two 60 minutes producers and the lovely and talented Ms. Leslie Stahl for my big show biz break. We are meeting at the KTVT studios for interviews/background info where I believe that I will meet the lovely Ms. Stahl and then heading to the American Airlines Arena (the site of concern) for a walking tour. I received a list of 55 questions on a questionnaire on Monday that I filled out and returned. I have an outline of the interview with strict instructions as to my behavior and actions. I'm giddy as a school girl and/or boy (trying to remain absolutely a-politically correct or incorrect, however the case may be). More upon my return...

I've rehearsed every question and possible answer a thousand times. "ha ha...great question, but seriously, the decline of urban prime and sub-prime capital investments by atypical, typical and AA-rated fiscal aggregation commerce markets..." Please God...help.
