Whats an acceptable amount of time for bumping a thread today?

How far back would should I go to post in threads today? On a typical day, it would be perfectly acceptable to respond to a thread active in the past 24-32 hours. 48hrs+ is often pushing it--- the thread is dead.


But on a day like today, would you limit your replys to the top half of the page? Threads made in the last hour? When should we let today's threads die?
