Miss the Ron & Fez FreeFM show? Feeling nostalgic for 2007? I just finished uploading all of the podcasts of the FreeFM show to the file library. You can download them here (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=21).

it really is a shame how CBS cowered on the Free FM concept in NY. They really had the potential for something special. If they would have kept O & A in mornings and put R & F in afternoon drive they could have succeeded and really got some nice billing for themselves. I didn't like JV and Elvis but they had a nice buzz. I didn't listen to Nick DiPallo much but when I did I found him entertaining. I disagree with him on just about everything, but he still entertained, which is not easy to do, he did very well for his first foray into radio and would have only gotten stronger. I am sure they would have found a couple other shows, hideout, CT and Jivin, etc to round out that line up. The station had many problems, but the biggest one not related to CBS managment cowardice, was having the weakest link in the second most important day part.

The music on the station is abominable, and with 101.9 WKXP now flipping to rock, and better rock (not that its great but at least they go deep from time to time and play some local acts) its going to take away from K-Rocks already small ( 1.6 - 2.0 ) piece of the pie. I am far from an expert but if the Free FM concept was done properly it could have worked.

God I miss the free fm days. How great was that. Listen to the XM show...it ends...you are sad...felt like it just started...oh wait the show will be back on in a matter of hours.

Also the Free FM show had a different feel to it. I liked it, being out side of New York, because it had a New York feel to it.

Thank you Mikeyboy!

Like Earlshog, i'm far from expert and know these topics have been done to death....but my $0.02 is that radiodays are over; talk audiences are very, very old and O+A, R+F type shows need a national platform (like XM)to pull in the few young+middle age guys who are even willing to listen, to even exist. I doubt O+A would have any free FM stations (left)at all if they didn't have the momentum from the old days.

non conservative talk radio is dead in this country.
