I'm Sexist Towards Women Involved in Men's Sports

Whenever I see a sports writer who is female talking about a men's sporting event on television, it bothers me at first.

And I don't know why. I know that there are women who know as much and more aboot sports than I do or most of the men talking about them on television, yet that is never my first thought.

When I was in the gym today, I had ESPN on and Jim Rome is Burning came on. Only Jim Rome is on vacation, so there's a woman hosting it. My first thought was, "How could they get a woman to cover Jim Rome's show?"

It's Jim Rome's show! He knows nothing about sports! A woman, especially a woman who knows sports, is a HUGE improvement over having Jim Rome hosting.

So, Confessional, I'm hoping typing this all out will help me get over my dumbness.

Having worked in the sport field for the past 20 years, I have worked with many qualified and talented women (more over the past five years or so) as well as many idiotic males. If you're prepared and have experience, you can do the job no matter if you have two x chromosomes or and x and a y.

People will probably just assume she is a dumb blonde but she does know her stuff. In general I dont like most tv sports people unless its the local homer's. I prefer the radio voices over the tv.

There are a lot of dumb sports commentators out there in general. One of my friends from high school is trying really hard to get into the business and she knows a ton about sports (most things in general) and she is also quite pretty. I'm like you though, I prefer radio broadcasting over tv. I adore Harry Kalas and listen to him on the radio and then switch the tv on when he broadcasts the Phils games. I have his schedule down. When the game is televised, he is on tv innings 123,789 and on the radio 456. I'm even the idiot who brings the radio to the games because I like listening to him so much.

I even liked when Don Drysdale broadcasted, he use to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers but he was one of the better broadcaster later in life. There are many players who try and broadcast after they play professionally and can't cut it but he could. Atleast imo.
