i cant help it.
i look forward to my friday nite primming.

once the kid is asleep and she's out for the nite, i usually take a nice hot shower (neck down) and a cooler shower (neck up). st ives makes a fabulous face scrub, and a face wash that turns into a mask.
wash, rince, pat dry.
i love the way my face feels when its all over. is that a bad thing?

then its to my couch with a beer and watch tv.

Haha...now this is my kind of thread... I exfoliate twice a week and it's really my secret to healthy looking, glowing, touchably soft skin. May I recommend...

Jason's Apricot Scrubble... I've used it since the 8th grade

i never exfoliate. my girlfriend is a girly girl and has been using moisturizers and other skin conditioners since a young teen and has been working in cosmetics for over 25 years. BUT after I shave she admits that my facial skin is softer/smoother than hers and my secret is

Oil Of Olay skin moisturizer - been using it for about 20 years. I saw it was ranked near the top with one of Lancome's products

I use the exfoliating glove in the shower and it's amazing. I use a pumice stone about every other day or two days on my elbows, knees, ankles, feet. The areas that tend to be course more than anything else.

i use a dean sea salt scrub. you use it like soap but is real rough and exfoliates with ease.

I know a woman who exfoliates the skin on her feet because she thinks that it makes them smooth and soft. I tell her not to, and the thinks I do not know what I am talking about.
But think about this: If you abrade the skin of your hands, does it make your hands soft? No! Look at a construction workers hands, are they soft?
The only thing that makes your skin soft and smooth is if you avoid anything that causes it to get scraped. Exfoliating will roughen your skin.

If you have really dry skin, it actually can help to remove the dead skin from the surface. I can't speak for people who already have nice, soft skin. But when your skin is rough because of dead skin buildup, it can really help to slough off the excess.

I am an exfoliation advocate!

Hellz yea bro. There's nothing wrong with using some of these products that have traditionally been more geared towards women. Why can't we feel better too? I don't want blackheads, zits and flaking skin just because I'm a guy. So I spend a few bucks every few weeks on a tube of that shit, nice shampoo, nice conditioner and a dandruff shampoo. Makes me feel better.

Exfoliating makes your skin softer because it gradually removes the dead top layer of skin, revealing fresher softer skin underneath.

It's true that constant, heavy friction will cause skin callouses, on hands, feet, wherever. But occasional, gentle removal of dead skin layers is different. Nobody is going around exfoliating with concrete and I-beams, so that's why they don't get the effect you're describing. Your reasoning is correct, but I think you're misreading what most people mean when they talk about how they exfoliate.

I decided to scrub my face with Burt's Bees Exfoliating soap this morning. Guess what?

ALLERGIC!!!

Immediately after, my upper cheeks and nose looked like raw hamburger. It's still terrible looking, and hurts like fucking crazy. Benadryl cream is helping, but I'm still miserable. I have no idea what's in it that I'm allergic to. I don't think I've ever had an allergic reaction to anything I've ever put on my skin before today. My pores are clean, and my face looks like I took a header off a motorcycle.

THIS SUCKS!!!!:furious:

Ugh. To make matters worse, now I'm actually feeling sick. It feels like the kind of sick you feel when you've had really bad sun burn.

Exfoliating sucks!

I like Pond's dramatatic results age-defying cleansing towelettes. I usually buy the Target equivalent, but there was none so I decided to spring for the $6, fully expecting irritation to my very fair Russian complexion.

I fully recommend this product to people too lazy to wash their collective faces before they go to bed. I've been using them for 2 weeks and I've noticed some improvement to my skin. Plus, it's mild enough not to irritate sensitive skin.

Aw, that smiley is sooo sad...

It's not that we don't believe you... you're just not correct. Materiality Girl is absolutely right when she says it's a gentle scrubbing action... key word here, gentle. Just enough to remove any dead skin cells and stimulate the skin so it's more radiant. As for the bottom of the feet you can scrub a little harder and you won't build up callouses, it's just the opposite. My skin is extremely soft after exfoliating and if it were getting calloused in any way I would know.

If these are as good as you say they are I will thank you in advance for recommending them. I hate washing my face before sleep. Something about being all relaxed and sleepy and then splashing cold water on my face really turns me off. Makes me cranky just thinking about it.
