i say, this from ferris bueller's day off;
"Oh, I'm sorry. I can't come to the door right now. I'm afraid that in my weakened condition, I could take a nasty spill down the stairs and subject myself to further show absences. You can reach my parents at their places of business. Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your concern for my well-being. Have a nice day!"
and then "bang the drum all day" by todd rundgren...

ATTENTION RUBES.........FRIENDS CLIP USED ALONG WITH POWER POP SONG.
I found an Ichiban reference in an old Friends episode (and no i don't watch the show.....cause I"M ALL MAN LADY) and i coupled that with some Cowboy Mouth - Joe Strummer.
Ichiban and Joe Strummer (http://media.putfile.com/The-Ichiban-is-Joe-Strummer)......hey i think that means i listen to the show.....every day.....every minute...............so Earl must think I'm a loser.
anyway, if you have never heard of Cowboy Mouth they are a loud power pop/rock band who is unbelievable live. They are a beer drinking and bottle throwing fun band to watch. I actually have never listened to their albums but I know this song and have seen them live a couple times. Their lead singer also plays drums, is up front, and is a maniac. good times.

I dig the David Byrne opener. You did a pretty good job of mixing the music from the movie drop with the song.
As for the Friends opener, the ichiban reference is interesting, but I can't get past all the canned laughter....

Sunday June 29th is Slim Picken's birthday. What about celebrating on the Friday June 27th with this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45TQQtNGBk0
Between 0:10 seconds and about 0:47 seconds (to capture some of 'When Johnny comes marching home again')
Followed up with a song about Major Kong: 'King Kong' from The Kinks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIwThJAOyKU
Earl can find it on the CD rerelease of the album 'Arthur' from 1969. Or I'm sure Fat Opie has a copy (since I've heard Art of the Topless cover it). Really, I just like the song and want to hear it in the opener. If Slim Pickens isn't high-profile enough, July 26th is Kubrick's B-Day. It could be saved until then.
I just realized that June 21st is Ray Davies birthday. I don't know what a good movie clip would be, but it would be cool to hear a deep Kinks cut for the opening song. Maybe 'Preservation', 'Muswell Hillbilly' or 'Sweet Lady Geneve'...?

From the opening scene of Tremors, last line is:
Gus: Oh, yeah. See, we plan ahead, that way we don't do anything right now. Earl explained it to me.
Going into The Temptations Cloud Nine:
"They say, give yourself a chance and don't let life pass you by.
But the world around you is a rat race.
Where only the strong survive.

You can be what you wanna be.
You ain't got no responsibility.
Every man, every man is free.

Mewch, I put this up in the listening thread, but I figure if I want a shot, best to post it here.
A drunk Michaleen Flynn arriving at Mary Kate Danaher's house to arrange the courting.
Michaleen Flynn: I have... I have come.
Mary Kate Danaher: Oh, I can see that. But from whose pub was it?
Michaleen Flynn: Pub? Pub? You've the face of an angel with the tongue of an adder. I have a good mind to go about me own business and tell Thon Shorton he's better off without ya!
Mary Kate Danaher: Wait a minute, what was that?
Michaleen Flynn: Well be ye listenin' then and not interrupting this shall go on - the matchmakin'... I have come at the request of Thon Shorton...
Mary Kate Danaher: Sean Thorton.
Michaleen Flynn: Shut up... bachelor and party of the first part, to ask if you, uh - strictly and formally, mind you - eh, Mary Kate Danaher, spinster, and party of the second part.
Mary Kate Danaher: Well. Go on. You were sayin'?
Michaleen Flynn: Actually... me mouth is like a dry crust and the sun is that hot on me pate.
Mary Kate Danaher: Will you be steppin' into the parlor? The house may belong to my brother, but what's in the parlor belongs to me.
Michaleen Flynn: I will then... and I hope there's a bottle there, whoever it belongs to...

From Millers Crossing
Verna: What is this about? You want me to stop seeing Leo..Why don't you just say so?
Tom: I want you to quit spinning Leo in circles and pointing him where to go.
Verna: I forgot..that's your job, isn't it?
Tom: I'll do what I have to to protect Leo. I'm asking you--politely, for me--to leave him alone. I don't have to ask. If I told him about our little dance last night, your pull would dry up pretty fast.
Verna: So would yours. I don't like being threatened.
Tom: I don't like being played for a sucker. That game might work with Leo but it won't work with me.
Verna: You think last night was just more campaigning for my brother?
Tom: I can see the angles...And I know if there was a market for little old ladies, you'd have Grandma Bernheim first on line.
Verna: You're a pathetic rumhead.
Tom: And I love you, Angel.
Verna: I suppose you think you've raised hell.

There's a Squirrel Nut Zippers song called 'I raise hell' which might work here too, both with the dialogue and setting.
From Raging Bull:
"I remember those cheers. They still ring in my ears. And for years they'll remain in my thoughts cuz one night I took off my robe and what'd I do I forgot to wear shorts.
I recall every fall, every hook, every jab. The worst way a guy could get rid of his flab as you know, my life was a jab...
Though I'd rather hear you cheer when I delve into Shakespeare
"A Horse, a horse, my Kingdom for a horse," I haven't had a winner in six months (he lights his cigar)... I know I'm no Olivier
But if he fought Sugar Ray He would say That the thing ain't the ring it's the play so gimme a stage where this bull here can rage
and though I can fight i'd much rather recite that's entertainment. That's entertainment."

I really love the clip the opening plays right before R&F go live "boppers" lol. Mike: Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. I spend half the night talking to some girl who's looking around the room to see if there's somebody else who's more important she should be talking to. And it's like I'm supposed to be all happy 'cause she's wearing a backpack, you know? And half of them are just nasty skanks who wouldn't be nothing except they're surrounded by a bunch of drunken horny assholes. And I'm gonna tell you something T. Are you listening?
Trent: Yeah, I'm listening.

From Swingers:
[It's 2:32am, and Mike decides to call Nikki, a girl he met just a few hours ago]
[Nikki's machine picks up: Hi, this is Nikki. Leave a message]
Mike: Hi, uh, Nikki, this is Mike. I met you at the, um, at the Dresden tonight. I just called to say that I had a great time... and you should call me tomorrow, or in two days, whatever. Anyway, my number is 213-555-4679 -
[the machine beeps]
Mike: [Mike calls back, the machine picks up]
Mike: Hi, Nikki, this is Mike again. I just called cuz it sounded like your machine might've cut me off when I, before I finished leaving my number. Anyway, uh, and, y'know, and also, sorry to call so late, but you were still at the Dresden when I left so I knew I'd get your machine. Anyhow, uh, my number's 21 -
[the machine beeps]
Mike: [Mike calls back; the machine picks up again]
Mike: 213-555-4679. That's it. I just wanna leave my number. I didn't want you to think I was weird or desperate, or... we should just hang out and see where it goes cuz it's nice and, y'know, no expectations. Ok? Thanks a lot. Bye bye.
[hangs up]
Mike: [Mike walks away from the phone... then walks back and calls again; once again, the machine picks up]
Mike: I just got out of a 6-year relationship, Ok? That should help explain why I'm acting so weird. I just wanted you to know that. It's not you, it's me. I'm sorry... This is Mike.
[hangs up]
Mike: [Mike calls back, the machine picks up again]
Mike: Hi, Nikki, this is Mike. Could you just call me when you get in? I'm gonna be up for awhile and I'd just rather speak to you in person instead of trying to fit it all into -
[the machine beeps]
Mike: Fuck!
[Mike calls back, gets the machine again]
Mike: Uh, Nikki? Mike. It's uh, uh, it's just, uh, this just isn't working out. I think you're great, but maybe we should just take some time off from each other. It's not you, it's me. It's what I'm going through, alright? It's uh... it's only been 6 months ...
Nikki: [picks up] Mike?
Mike: [very cheerful] Nikki? Great! Did you just walk in or were you listening all along?

So I'm driving around with Your Gold Teeth II on (loud out the window - quieter stuff when I'm in the Princeton area)... and I usually think about Ron's comment on Katy Lied when I play that album. Just how great it is. I agree - so I start thinking of the show - I'm listening and start thinking of what I'd pair this up with for a show opening and it gets to the line "life is unreal" and I start thinking of Vanilla Sky - then I think of that pivotal scene in the beginning of the movie. I agree - so I start thinking of the show - I'm listening and start thinking of what I'd pair this up with for a show opening and it gets to the line "life is unreal" and I start thinking of Vanilla Sky - then I think of that pivotal scene in the beginning of the movie. There ya go.

Hi guys,
heres one I made, first attempt and I guess not too imaginative given my nationality. Any thoughts or suggestions for other ones to make I'd appreciate. I also didn't include the North Americans song coz I figured they'd let the opening song run as long as they needed to on any particular day rather than me dictating that they must listen to the whole song...
anyway, any thoughts on this one or suggestions for others. I ripped the mp3 from a CD and the movie clip from youtube. The movie clip was edited down somewhat, silences and un-needed speech taken out then both files were mixed together with adobe audition.

The song is "Words of Advice" by the band Material from the album "Hallucination Engine".
The "narrator" in the song is none other than William S. Burroughs.
For those who watch the Sopranos, they used the title track from the album "Seven Souls" to start one of the episodes in the last season. You'd know which one it was, because it had the same type of feel as this song, and also with William S Burroughs.

For September 18th - R.I.P Jimi
Thanks for the heads up...it almost passed us by.
(it should go without saying on this board that I'm just being a douche)
Hard to imagine that he's been dead 11 years longer than he was alive.
In a joint effort between myself and Tom Servo:
From Fight Club:
Narrator: [on phone with Marla] Marla, did we ever have sex?
Marla Singer: What? Do you mean did I think we were just having sex or making love?
Narrator: Marla just answer the question. Did we ever have sex.
Marla Singer: Ok. You fuck me, then snub me. You love me, you hate me.
You show me a sensitive side, then you turn into a total asshole. Is this a pretty accurate description of our relationship, Tyler?
Narrator: Wait. What did you just call me?
Marla Singer: Tyler. Tyler Durden. Tyler Durden, you crazy fuck!
Into: Toadies - Tyler
Here's one I just together. It's the 'Commode Story' from Reservoir Dogs into Sublime's version of Scarlet Begonias.
Link to mp3 (http://onebullettest.com/MSGBRD/sounds/RD_Commode_Sublime.mp3)
The Commode Story:
Mr. Orange: This is a very weird situation. 'Cause I don't know if you remember back in '86 there was a major fucking drought. Nobody had anything. People were living on resin... -smoking the wood in their pipes for months. This chick had a bunch. And she's begging me to sell it. So I told her I wasn't going to be Joe the potman anymore, but I would take a little bit and sell it to my close, close, close friends. She agreed to that, said we'd keep the same arrangement as before; 10%, free pot for me, as long as I helped her out that weekend. She had a brick of weed she was selling, she didn't want to go to the buy alone. Her brother usually goes with her, but he's in county unexpectedly.
Mr. White: What for?
Mr. Orange: His traffic tickets. Got a warrant. They stopped him for something, found warrants on him, took him to county. Now she doesn't walk around alone with all that weed. I don't want to do this. I have a very bad feeling about it. But she keeps asking me, keeps asking me, keeps asking me, finally I said OK 'cause I'm sick of hearing it. Now, we're picking the guy up at the train station...
Nice Guy Eddie: Wait a minute. You go to the train station to pick up the buyer with the weed on you?
Mr. Orange: The guy needed it right away. Don't ask me why. Anyway, we're get to the station and we're waiting for the guy. I'm carrying the weed in one of those little carry-on bags. I got to take a piss. So I tell the connection I'll be right back, I'm going to the boys' room. So I walk in the mens' room, and who's standing there? Four Los Angeles county sheriffs and a German shepherd.

I was thinking this great scene from The Contender was kind of timely with the candidacy of Sarah Palin:
- [Sighs]
- What's goin' on?
Uh...
well, it looks like Runyon or somebody close to him...
has been running a little private investigation...
looking for stuff that the Feds wouldn't even touch.
- It's, um--
- Yeah?
What is it?
What--
[Phone Ringing]
- He doesn't know anything about it.
- You're asking me to step down?
I'm asking you to do what's in the best interest of the party...
and this president.
Well, I'm sorry. I can't do it, not over this.
He's not going to allow me or himself...
to get shot down over what would've been a private sexual encounter.
- Some swan song for the old man, huh?
- It's fuckin' awful.
The senator got a little wild when she was . What is the big deal?
Let me explain the big deal to you.
The people of this nation can stomach quite a bit.
But one thing they can't stomach is the image of a vice president with a mouthful of cock.
You don't have to use-- Look. Let's use the word "alleged".
They got photos! They got witnesses! They got the "alleged" slut--
Hey! Let me tell you something.
I'm her husband first. I don't tolerate talk like that.
- Will, calm down.
- You better get used to it, Will.
Especially when not even your wife will defend herself.
Give me something, Laine. Anything.
Hell, just deny it. Why don't you just deny it?
It is simply beneath my dignity.
Dignity! Right.
We'll just have to make this all not worthwhile for Mr. Runyon.
What have you got on the distinguished gentleman from Illinois?
Some pretty good stuff.
- S.E.C. investigation, .
- You got stocks?
I want something embarrassing!
Something sexual!
Little boys, midgets, that sort of thing.
- Cows! I don't give a god damn!
- Come on, Kermit.
If we do that, we're no better than he is.
We are no better than he is.
EDIT: Make it "Sara Smile" by Hall and Oates.

Mason: My God, that's even worse. You said you regretted it, didn't you?
George: Yeah of course. Who gives a shit?
Mason: My God, I give a shit. Rube tells us to be on the periphery. To keep away from...things. To keep our distance from...life. Our family...
George: Yeah?
Mason: God, it is nonsense. You get close, Georgie, you get close to everybody that ever meant anything to you.
George: Have you been drinking?
Mason: Of course I've bloody been drinking. And it's last call. And you gotta...you gotta drink up while you still can.

[White proceeds to smash Loew's head into the mirror and then sticking it into the toilet]
Ellis Loew: Pull him off me, Exley!
Ed Exley: I don't know how.
Bud White: Now, I know you think you're the A-number one hotshot. Well, here's the juice: if I take you out, there'll be ten more lawyers to take your place tomorrow. They just won't come on the bus, that's all!
[White drags Loew into his office and dangles him out of the window by his legs until he confesses]

This exchange from "Chasing Amy":
Alyssa: Let me ask you a question. Can men fuck each other?
Banky Edwards: What, are you asking for my permission?
Alyssa: In your estimation.
Banky Edwards: Sure.
Alyssa: So, for you, to fuck is to penetrate. You're used to the more traditional definition. You inside some girl you duped, jackhammering away, not noticing that bored look in her eyes.
Banky Edwards: Hey, I always notice that bored look in their eyes, alright?

Doc Holliday: That's the rumor.
Johnny Ringo: You retired too?
Doc Holliday: Not me. I'm in my prime.
Johnny Ringo: Yeah, you look it.
Doc Holliday: And you must be Ringo. Look, darling, Johnny Ringo. The deadliest pistoleer since Wild Bill, they say. What do you think, darling? Should I hate him?
Kate: You don't even know him.
Doc Holliday: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.
Wyatt Earp: [to Ringo] He's drunk.
Doc Holliday: In vino veritas.
["In wine is truth" meaning: "When I'm drinking, I speak my mind"]
Johnny Ringo: Age quod agis.
["Do what you do" meaning: "Do what you do best"]
Doc Holliday: Credat Judaeus apella, non ego.
["The Jew Apella may believe it, not I" meaning: "I don't believe drinking is what I do best."]
Johnny Ringo: [pats his gun] Eventus stultorum magister.
["Events are the teachers of fools" meaning: "Fools have to learn by experience"]
Doc Holliday: [gives a Cheshire cat smile] In pace requiescat.
["Rest in peace" meaning: "It's your funeral!"]

Doc Holliday: Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.

DIEGO
George? What do you know about cocaine?
GEORGE
I don't know, Diego. I've got a good thing going already. Everybody smokes
pot. It's easy. Cocaine is a rich man's drug. It's too expensive.
DIEGO
No, no. That is where you are wrong. For us, it is cheap. In Medellin, we
buy for six-thousand dollars a kilo. IN Miami, we sell for sixty.
GEORGE
That's over fifty-thousand dollars profit per kilo.
DIEGO
And that's wholesale. Cut it a few times and retail, you're looking at two,
three-hundred thousand.
GEORGE
Oh my G-d.
DIEGO
Yes. And a kilo of coca is smaller than a kilo of your precious marijuana.
Everything is the same, George, except instead of thousands, you are making
millions.

I tried that, but can't convert to Mp3?
you need to download the mp3 converter encoder (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3)
adobe audition is pretty easy to find and learn
pm me if you have any problems

meda converter.org for web (http://www.mediaconverter.org/) or audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) works fine for dvds

192kbps.
drops should hit the song by 0:40.
drops should be no longer that 1:30 in total.
drop plus song shouldn't be longer than 4:00.
I try to avoid using bands or movies twice but as long as its not the same scene or the song really fits to something happening on the show or in the news you can get away with it.
Check here (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76240) before wasting time on stuff already used.

I wish I had the clip... (it was on today friday the 10th of july)
Tony Soprano had me really laughing out loud...
In one of the 'johnnycake' episodes, Tony is in session with Dr. Malfi.
He's very seriously telling her about the limitations of a gay member
of his organization... the way that person would be received...
the doctor responds with a 'what's the problem' attitude
and after expressing it out loud...
TONY (from across the room) calls out..
(in a semi-richard simmons singing exclamation)...
" HE'S A FA-AGGGGG ! "
Must be the RF influence... but since the word became
most insulting to Fez, er, I mean gays...
Tony let that one fly in a matter of fact way...
the speech would be great in an opening...
hmmm... followed by Johnny Thunder doing GREAT BIG KISS ?
i'm just sayin'
ESD's crazy science talk into Pink Flyod's We Don't need no education....
