I listen to this show for pure comedy purposes. I hardly take anything seriously, and as Ron points out sometimes, he just says things to start debate sometimes. I rather enjoyed the Mike the Teacher appearance the week before last, but I honestly don't know why everyone's so anti-God.

I'm a geologist, if there's anyone's occupation and schooling that would give them more reason to doubt a creationist point of view, it's mine. But I don't. I don't believe in the absolute truths of the church either, e.g. genesis and the creation of the earth and man. I understand what has happened to this earth for 4.5 billion years, but humanity's rise is just too lucky for me. The dinosaurs reigned for 150-160 million years, and look how far they got, barely scratching the surface of superior intelligence in some species late. The genus homo has been around for just 2.5 million years, and look what we've done to this place. We rule. This is just my way of thinking, we're too perfect, things worked out too well for life and us for it to be just a chance.

I know I'm not gonna change any minds with this, I just felt the need to express my minorty opinion.

Going back to the TC's post, he asks what's before the big bang, no one fucking knows, the big bang is a theory, it's a good one, but we don't know what the happened.

Also what should be of note to many, the original proposition of the big bang theory was made by a catholic priest.

You look at how many people are born deformed, or with mental disabilities or illnesses, or physical defects, or things that can take us down down the line like cancer. I think cockroaches withstanding nuclear blasts is overblown. Yeah some might live in after a city was destroyed, but that's cause of the shear number of them, not because they're nature's strongest creature and can withstand explosions and radiation. Some people survived Hiroshima too.

I guess this is hard for me to iterate about my own theories on life and the universe, or the 'design' aspect. Do I think God created man in his own image? I don't know, probably not considering the incredible variety of humans on the planet.

I know we're not perfect perfect, if not we'd be immortal, cancer and illnesses and the like are present in most life forms. I guess a better way of saying it is that our "chance" was perfect, we've taken good hold of it with technology and civilization. But have dropped the ball on many things. You brought up deformity and mental disabilities, occurring at a much higher rate now, which I would almost certainly say is in direct response to what humans have done, e.g. the rate of autism is ridiculous. I saw a sign yesterday that it's 1 in 94 or 95 in New Jersey.
