On My Own

This week is my daughter's spring break, so my wife took the kids to visit a relative in Pennsylvania. I couldn't go because of work, so I'm on my own in NYC for the next week. As much as I love my wife and kids, a little break from parental responsibilities is a nice change of pace. I've got plenty to keep me busy. I've got a couple of video games I want to finish, a bunch of TV season box sets I picked up at the auction for my daughter's school, and a bunch of things saved on DVR. Also, I'm able to get out and check out a movie or catch one of the shows at the UCB Theatre on a whim without worrying about getting a sitter, which is nice. It occurs to me that this will be the longest I've lived completely alone in about twelve years, so it might start to get odd in a few days. We'll wait and see. In the meantime, my afternoon will be spent watching Yankees-Orioles on YES. Go O's!

i'm with you soon Mikeyboy. my wife/son and brother in law are flying to Arizona on Wed to visit mom-in law. i couldn't get the time off from work to go with them. i'll be honest, when i drop them off and my son(18 months) says his "bye bye" i'm going to be really,really sad..but i'm sure i'll get over it on my 30 minute ride home and i'll enjoy the next 5 days. i've already agreed to do a bunch of housework, but i can care less...no one will be here and i'll be happy. enjoy.

If I hadn't already been aware that this was a lot of kids' spring break, I would have known anyway ... our office has become a mini-daycare this week.

(Not that I mind; we have a big-screen TV with cable and a pool table in our break room, so the booger-eaters are able to stay occupied all day.)
