I lived in China and Taiwan for five years and I found Americans abroad not only were just as culturally sensitive as other Westerners (if not more) but a higher percentage could speak Chinese than other foreigners. Of course, this is just my own experience but I do think the Ugly American is a tired, old stereotype. I'm sure you can still find crusty old Americans speaking English loudly, slowly, and aggressively to Parisian waiters but I find younger Americans are some of the most considerate travelers out there.

I find that people who tend to travel, tend to be more up on geography and politics. Their interest in those topics leads them to want to explore. I've never noticed that any one nationality was more or less ignorant than the other. I always loved running into Americans abroad cuz I would always get into their politics with them.

I watched the video and once again it was 1989 VHS qual with bad tracking. Everyone owns a digital camera with nice clear video recording. Why are the pictures and video's still such bad quality?
