What is the weirdest fruit that you have tried but which you love? I kind of love papaya right now. What about you?

I'm obsessed with grapefruit.. it's not so weird, but my unnatural love for it surely is.
I've been eating like 3 a day!!! Sometimes more.

Fezzie, of course.
EDIT: j/k Fez - don't take it the wrong way.
I really like Pomegranate, although I have it much more frequently as a juice or flavoring than as a food.

I know it looks awful, but I promise you it will be your favorite fruit ever. JACKFRUIT is most commonly enjoyed by Asians, particularly the Vietnamese. Try it and I know you will like it.

I love the carambola (Star Fruit) ... but sadly it's not good for people prone to Kidney Stones, so I can't eat it anymore.

How do you eat it? Whats it taste like? Are their pits? Is it tart or sweet?

canepas
mostly sold in bodegas, they look like a large grape, grow on vines, have a green rind that squeezes right off, inside a nut or seed coated with sweet fruit. crack the rind, pop it in your mouth, suck the fruit off the nut, spit nut out
haven't had them since a kid but loved them at a penny apiece

This is the form it will take when it is peeled away from the rest of the orb. You can eat it by itself or blended in a drink. If there is a Vietnamese restaurant near you, go there and get whatever form they serve it in. Its fucking GREAT!!!!

Li hing moy, or something like that. it's a dried plum preserved in the chinese seasoning Li Hing, which is salt, aspartame, licorice, and red coloring. Li hing mangos are a close second.

OOohhhhh, Lychee's freak me out...they have a very "eyeball quality" that I just can't seem to get past.
Love the kiwi's and love pomegranate but I hate all the little seeds in the fruit so I'll stick with the juice...the same reason I buy seedless grapes, the seeds have a tannic quality that I don't like.

The vodka bar near my house has about 15 different pom-vodkas.
Also, pom-wonderful goes fantastic with ketel 1.

We don't have access to many weird fruits in Kansas, so a lot of them I haven't tried.
One fruit I would be curious to try sometime is durian, which is apparently 1) delicious and 2) stinks like the grave. Anthony Bourdain had it on, I think, the Indonesian episode. The one where he stayed in a little hut right on the water and took a boat around and he went to a candy place in a hut and the guy was mixing candy taffy stuff in a big bowl. I think that was the Indonesian one and not the Singapore one.
One thing I have liked that is a little unusual for these parts is barberries (http://cookalmostanything.blogspot.com/2007/09/weekend-herb-blogging-98.html), which are these little sour berries used in Persian cooking. This Iranian restaurant I really like has a dish called zereshk polo and it's a chicken kebab with rice and the rice has these really tart, tangy little berries cooked into it. It's pretty terrific.

I bought one once from an Asian market. It actually is good, but the stink is overpowering even as you eat it. If you can kind of ignore the stench, the fruit actually is pleasing. You may just have to use one hand to manually close your nostrils.

Hmm. Well, I would try it at least once.
Something else I just thought of is breadfruit. I have always wanted to try it ever since reading Mutiny on the Bounty as a kid.

Andrew Zimmern hated it, said it tasted like rotten onions. Anthony Bourdain said it tastes like a fine cheese. I don't think I could stomach a fruit that tastes like old creamy cheese. I don't like things that taste different then you think they are going to taste, a fruit is supposed to taste like a fruit damn it!

Love these things. Used to get them all the time when I worked in Ridgewood-Bushwick. Usually bought them from a guy selling them out of the back of a van. Haven't really seen them anywhere since.
