View Full Version : I Forgot How To Eat An Orange

I've been on a health kick, so I'm trying to eat more fruit. I like orange juice, so I decided to buy some oranges and eat them, even though I haven't had one in over 10 years.
I knew that they came apart in pieces, but I thought the skin did, too. So I sat here struggling to get it open. I finally gave up and grabbed a knife, and promptly shot myself in the eye with orange juice. But I finally cut through it and then remembered that you're supposed to peel the outside first.
So yeah, I'm an idiot. I forgot how to eat a fruit.

Try buying navel oranges instead. They come apart MUCH easier. I can't stand to eat the ones that are really tough to break apart. Peel it using a spoon to slip the rind away from the fruit, then pull the pith out of the center, and just separate the pieces that way.

Dont make fun of underdog, he is very special
I suggest method one
I- Peeled Method
1. Select the ripest orange from the bunch. Even though you do not eat the skin, you should still wash it thoroughly. This is because the knife used to cut it can transfer bacteria into the part you eat.
2. Dig a metal teaspoon or a knife into the peel and tear a bit of the peel off. Peel off with your fingers, or he spoon will make removing the outer peel very clean and easily done. Continue peeling along the underside of the orange peel until all the peel has all been removed. After all the skin is cleared off, you can throw the outer peel away.
3. Pull one of the wedges apart from the rest of orange, and place it into your mouth. While chewing, it may be best to remove the seeds found in the orange.
4. Be careful of juicy squirts, but an orange is something to be appreciated.
II Cut Method:
1. Place the orange on a plate. Take a knife and cut it in half, starting with the ends or the stem part down.
2. Cut again in half or quarters.
3. Continue until the orange is all cut in slices.
4. Hold with your hands, near the skin, and just put your mouth onto the orange itself, and bite it off the skin. Finally enjoy the lovely juicy taste!
Tips:
- Beware of squirting orange juice.
- Be careful not to choke on the seeds found in the orange.
-
Things you'll need:
- orange
- paper towels
- metal spoon
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

I could never eat an orange this way. Ive always been too tempted to suck the juice out and leave the rest of the guts. Also, seeds suck

I like how Hippo tried to pretend that he's ever eaten an orange, or any non-fatty meat product really.

I bit into an orange a couple weeks ago. Figured that's how I'd break it open and begin to peel.
What a terrible idea. Had a horrid peel taste in my mouth for an hour.

I've become domestically martha stewart gay lately. I keep a pot of water on the wood stove and toss my orange peels in there, along with some cloves and vanilla extract. The house smells wonderful!
