I showed this copy of a story about the death of my Great Grandfather in 1909, to a very good online friend of mine, and she said it was a very fascinating story. I thought it would be cool if we post stuff like this. Hopefully, it shows up good enough for you to be able to read. If not, I'll type it all out.
Here's my old family story...

It's long been thought that my Great Grandfather must have done more to instigate this incident, than what's reported in the story. After all, though it was a black man killing a white man in the South, the guy only got like 10 or 15 years for it. There's obviously more to the story.
My Grandfather was 13 when his father was killed, and he became the "man of the family" at that young age. It had a profound effect on his life. He wasn't really racist, but he feared blacks. To the contrary, my Grandmother loved everyone. As a couple, the were so much like Archie and Edith Bunker, that my Grandfather refused to let us watch "All In the Family" when we would visit.
