I spent some time last year in Poland. While there I met a girl and we quickly became very close. I came back to the U.S. in February.
In late June she'll be coming over here to spend the summer with me and we're planning on getting married in 2009 after shes finished earning her Master's in English. O.K. my question: has anyone here ever had experience marrying a non-US citizen?? She recently got her Visa so thats not a problem. But what are the steps we have to take to get married?? There must be something we have to do before this can happen?

Yet funny. See how silly we can be?
Go straight to the State Department and fill out the forms-they'll make you wait a whole long time too. And after the marriage, be prepared for unannounced visits from your sherriff on behalf of the Feds, to check on your marriage to make sure it is all legit, and not some sort of white slavery operation. Which of course, I know it's not, but the Feds always assume the worst.

Polish gals are definitely swell! All of them. Everywhere I went in Poland the women were absolutely stunning. 75-80% were gorgeous. And on a broader note, the polish people were the most generous and brightest people I've ever been around. Poznan is a hidden treasure in Europe. Very progressive student population and a fucking great place to party.

I believe this should be a good document:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/A1.pdf
You might need to re-check this, but I believe you have to file the following forms:
I-130 - Petition for Alien Relative
I-485 - Adjustment of Status (if your relative is in the US)
The following may be optional:
I-131 - Application of Travel Document, also known as Advanced Parole
I-765 - Application for Employment Authorization
Though the procedure is not that convoluted, I would recommend spending some money and getting it done through a good attorney if you have never had to deal with any US immigration related matters. At some stage you will be asked to appear for a personal interview where normally they would ask simple questions. If the interviewing officer detects any fraud in the application, the questions will get tougher. If your case is genuine, then you and/or your then wife would have no problems answering those questions.
Good Luck and let me know if your Polish Wife has a sister or a friend (for me).
Stoned!
