You want an honest answer? No booze at all until you figure out the source of your problems.

Curing mental ailments requires brutal honesty with oneself, and taking a depressant as powerful as alcohol will never help in any way.

If you were looking for a goofy answer, sorry.

change in scenery, whether its friends, career, location, etc.

might not be depression... might just be.. boredom, stuck in a rut..

i heard anal sex while wearing a missing cowboy hat works wonders.

Bringing new activities into your routine will help. If you smoke pot all the time for depression its likely that you don't do that many existentially validating things. In my experience the 'daily-smokers' that do it to feel good generally lack external passions to invest in, so pot becomes enough of an enhancement to doing nothing that playing GTA4 every day feels awesome enough to be a valid use of all your time.

Long sentence, but do you know what I mean? I think after a while your routine with doing nothing but hanging out in various places and being high starts to subconsciously depress you, and that feeling of incoming depression makes you want to smoke to avoid being overtaken by it, and around and around forever.

I think the key is variety and letting your mind open up to the potential things you can do in LIFE, physically and socially, that will be just as entertaining--and far more enriching--as it was to get high when you felt depressed.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately and started to actualize these seemingly-simple ideas (though I suspect I'm not the only existential newb in the world given the things this society values), and when I follow my sense of adventure instead of my sense of routine and comfort (enemy of the ubermensche!) I feel alive. Really alive, and more confident, and more satisfied with what I am doing with my brief time in existence.

Just some thoughts from someone who may or may not relate to the mental context behind you posting this question on this messageboard.

Learn to play guitar, get a dog and keep only high-grade greens around and believe me, you will find your way through.
Keep your chin up and get some sack.
You'll be fine...You gotta fight the crazy with crazy. Do you know any girls that hang dream-catchers form their rear view or are into crystals and shit?
Also, what's your opinion of chicks that are into jam bands?

Do it!!!!!

a change in your approach.

30-45 cardio
balanced, healthy diet
match.com flirt and get laid.

hire a life coach

the best advice: get involved with doing things for the less fortunate. be they senior folks, handicapped children, or returning injured GI's. you will feel fullfilled and rewarded. give back. you will get more than you give.

Unless TV has lied to me, singing along to "Time After Time" is the only way to get over heartbreak.

Change of scenery is definitely what I would suggest. Doing something or going somewhere you've never gone or done before works wonders. Even if it's trying Indian food for the first time. Also take advantage of being freshly single and get some strange.

In my experience you have to sit with the pain and deal with it before you can get over it. Otherwise its going to rear it's ugly head over and over. I am also a big advocate for massage therapy. Even to take your mind off of what's going on for a few minutes. The stress caused by thinking about and dealing with heart break builds up in the body and leads to tension in muscles. Give your local massage therapist a call, its a very relaxing experience.

the green definitely helps from time to time but its not something you want to rely on. i fell into that bad after some shit and pretty much became a recluse. go out with some friends and have some fun. being around positive people is the best thing you can do for yourself. go out for a laugh and a good time and you are going to find someone else to connect with. trust me.

the exact thing happened to me. random night going out with friends for margaritas and i met the girl of my dreams. keep your head up. i know the heartache and all the shit that comes with it but try to stay positive and it will work out for you.

best of luck to you budday!
