OB/GYN's are notorious for avoiding working on holidays or weekends. Lemme guess, your appointments are on Tuesdays, right?
If it hasn't happened by next week, expect to be told to stay off of your feet as much as possible, go home and relax on the 4th, and over the weekend, and come back in the following Tuesday, and possibly schedule induction at that time.
With that said, Wednesday, July 9th, 4:35 p.m. ET

Our OB/Gyn sent us to the hospital Christmas night. Right after dinner. Sean was born on the 26th.

Oh, and if for some reason it does happen on the 4th, don't feel compelled to go with a "patriotic name".
I was due on July 4th, and if I had come then, Ma was going to name me Francis (possibly Francis Scott).
Thank Ron I was two days late.
Again, they do anything they can to not work holidays, the lazy fucks.

Actually I have an appointment today. But yes, they do tend to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Figures. I've got three, and each time, as the due date was approaching, they started talking about induction, and for the first she went to her last Tuesday appointment, and if she was having any signs of contractions, we were scheduled to be admitted early Wednesday morning to start inducing. I thought this was "normal".
For each of my first two, we spent all day Wednesday on the drip, then went home. All day Thursday... went home. By Friday (both times) they were in panic mode and fearing they might have to work on the weekend, and upped the drip, put on the pill, and marched her around and forced each of them out late Friday afternoon.
My oldest was healthy as a horse, but I still believe they (my ex and her doc) forced my second out too soon and I attribute his early health problems to this (he spent the first week in NICU).
I've been "anti-iduction" ever since, although I do understand it's sometimes necessary on the first. After that, I still believe that they use it as a "Planning Tool", so that they can control when their patients deliver (what day of the week).
My most recent was still a scheduled induction, but she came naturally. This was her first, and it was a little past our "due date", and all signs were great with our daughter, so I was ok with a little help for her.
Nowadays around here, they are admitting the night before (10 pm for us on a Tuesday night), and take care of all of the IV's and monitors, then start the drip and let the mothers sleep as much as they can through the night, and the doctor checks the progress the next morning. Luckily, her water broke naturally overnight, and they stopped the drip, and actually were trying to slow her down until her OB/GYN was able to come back around noon.

Don't bank on that ... I was the first one for my mom and I was early.
Dad was banking on me to be late ... so he and Pop (Dad's dad) were up all night the night before I came home painting my nursery and assembling my crib.

Heather went into labor on Sunday evening. After 1 failed epidural, one GOOD epidural, and one baby not liking the oxytocin, they went in via c-section and retrieved our son at 11:55am on July 7. We knew that he was going to be big even before the Dr who was doing the delivery said, "OH MY GOD!" and proceeded to pull Heather all over the bed to pry him loose.
Height: 19 inches
Weight: 10 pounds even
Light brown hair, natural mohawk right down the middle.
All fingers and toes are present.
Everything seems to work okay, although he needs to take another hearing test today, as he was hearing, just falling short of passing. The tech's are saying there could still be some fluid left in his ears.
Pictures will follow as soon as I up load them.
Thank you all for your concern and we'll all see you soon!

We just got home from the hospital 2 and a half hours ago. Holy hell, do I hurt. But it was well worth it.
10 LBS? Jesus christ. I would die.
We knew all along that he would be about that big (we had plenty of ultrasounds predicting that), but none of the doctors would even entertain that idea. In fact, I had yet another u/s during labor and that tech said "I guarantee he won't be any larger than 8 lb, 9 oz." She never did show up again to take back her guarantee.
And since the request went out for pics, here's a couple to tide you over.

No. Give up the dream of him joining La Famiglia, Ralph (though, at 25% Italian, he's more guido than 5 members of that group combined).
