Weird Medicine Addendum

I wonder if I should post this here, or in one of the Radio Buddays forums...

I just heard from XM...the Weird Medicine Addendum will be broadcast in the 8pm pre-SNV slot very soon! (They wanted it for THIS weekend, but we couldn't get it together in time). This is a pre-recorded show where we anonymously answer a bunch of email questions that we got during the show. There are way too many to do in an hour, so we won't get them all in, but I hope it will be at least mildly entertaining.


More details as soon as we know more. A lot will depend on whether I can get the audio to sound "broadcast quality" with my crummy set-up.

ha, I was just trying to make you feel bad, jonyrotn, or should I say "John Joseph Lydon"?

Looking back at the over-excited prose in my announcement, I deserved it, really. I really wasn't trying to say "HEY LOOK HOW GREAT THIS IS!" but merely wanted to announce that some of the questions from this forum would be on the addendum, which by the way will be run on XM to increase its audience beyond the 10 who listen to my stupid podcasts. :-)

I fully expect this board to keep me humble and grounded; seriously, I do get it. :innocent:

Well, we recorded tonight and uploaded it to Erock; It'll be on this coming Saturday night at 8pm EDST.

I can't say it's my favorite show...doing it prerecorded is WAY different from doing it live. We did have "Fez's Blind Date" as third mike; the story of that night really wasn't very interesting, so it's a testament to Ron and Fez that they were able to make it entertaining--we sure weren't able to do that.

That being said, there are some good moments in this one for those who can make it past the first 10 minutes. You may recognize several questions from this forum, too. I just have to keep learning the same lesson over and over again, "Weird Medicine" is about medicine; when I veer from the formula I get into trouble. If we get the opportunity to do this again, the next one will be better.

Anyway, thanks to everyone here; I plugged ronfez.net several times, too. :-)

Great show as always, Steve. (RC Collins reference) I was thinking about your humility, knowlege, and radio voice. I could easily imagine a Dean Edell type show. He had great success being an honest radio doctor. I say you make him turn his head and cough, then move right in.

I always liked Dr Dean...I listened to him for years when I did a lot of road work...I liked his work ethic, too...ONE HOUR A DAY. He's constrained in that he has to worry about content; we are not so constrained, thankfully, being on an XL channel. :-)

Well, there's news on this front. I got the word from XM that the 8-9 pm slot will be a rotating schedule with Weird Medicine showing up around every 4 weeks. We're very excited about this opportunity. We still get to keep our live gig every quarter, too.

Yeah, weirdly, I was driving to Sears today and looked down and there was my name on the pad data...apparently the 8pm show gets replayed Sunday afternoon or something. Anyway, it's on the website by the next day.

Seriously, thanks for the support, everyone, it means a lot to me. this is just an insane opportunity and I'm truly humbled by it.
