Am I the only one who thinks the whole Back to the Future gag on OnA is hilarious? I loved it when they went for almost an hour and when it randomly starts and just keeps going.

It really is a subject everyone can (and should) discuss.
I find myself yelling stuff and shouting out lines to nobody in particular... though I did do this before they started really getting into the whole bit. I'm pretty obsessed with that movie for some reason. In fact, it might be time to break out the box set.

I love when you know it's starting and it's really casual, but by the end they are just trying to shoehorn them in.

Do you hypothetically use the hypothetical bittorrent? Hypothetically, if you did, I could hypothetically send something to the hypothetical you after the hypothetical show hypothetically airs.
Also, I used hypothetically so much in that sentence that I forgot what it meant.

How were the crowds?
At my theater it was nearly a full house. People applauded when the title showed up and of course when it ended, but also there was applause when George McFly knocked out Biff.
Took about 10 minutes after the credits had already ended to get out of the theater. Employees were handing out posters as people were walking out. Apparently they didn't have the posters prepared, so they were rolling them up one by one as each person walked out.
Saw one guy with a BTTF trivia card game, so I guess the early people out got that along with the poster.
When I finally got outside, a guy in a DeLorean drove by me in the parking lot. He certainly came prepared.
I watched parts 2 and 3 on DVD when I got home. I had never seen part 3 until today.
sailor
10-24-2010, 04:09 AM
Our theater was just about full. Set up a table to give out posters right in front of the screen. Don't know why they didn't set it up in front of exit so you could grab one on way out. Was way more effort than it needed to be.

I just got back from the Monday night showing. The theater (the AMC in Clifton Commons) was full except for seats right in front of the screen. The crowd was enthusiastic.
It was nice seeing it on the big screen again; I saw it in the theater when it originally came out. I bought the VHS, then the DVD, but there are things I never noticed on my TV screen.
I'm glad I went.

It was a great time at the movies. Almost sold out, and everyone was clapping and laughing - surprising to me at some of the same little moments from the movie that I loved as well. Seeing on the big screen again, I picked up a lot that I had forgotten or never noticed before. Especially Crispin Glover's performance, which is just awesome all around. Got a nice movie poster out of it too.
Some fun articles on the movie:
Why Doc Brown is the real villain of Back To The Future (http://io9.com/5673855/why-doc-brown-is-the-real-villain-of-back-to-the-future)
The real monster in the Back To The Future movies isn't the bully Biff, argues Premiere's Gene Newman. It's Doc Brown, the lying manipulator who deals with terrorists and nearly destroys the space-time continuum
(Although this time, for me, Doc Brown really did come across as a MAD scientist. Not so much funny, but straight out bonkers.)
It's All About Biff (http://www.popmatters.com/pm/post/132618-its-all-about-biff-back-to-the-future-25th-anniversary-trilogy-blu-r/)
Biff is the entire franchise's fulcrum, the turning point for almost every event in the McFlys' life. We need his danger, his seemingly unsinkable force to get us invested in the maudlin, milquetoast family.
sailor
10-27-2010, 09:50 AM
Isn't their description of biff sort of the definition of a protagonist?
And glover was absolutely the highlight of seeing this on the big screen. I went around quoting his lines for hours.

I want one. Although at $90,000 - $100,000 it's a little steep for me. Maybe sometime in the future when the price comes down.

If you use your brand new DeLorean to drive to the future, then you'll be stuck driving a piece of shit used car.

Actually, it would be better to go back to 1985 and buy a shitload of gold at $35 an ounce and bury it somewhere.
