seems an ex-reporter in Philadelphia will be charged with one count of unauthorized access to a computer system, related to the federal investigation of whether Mendte hacked the private e-mails of former colleague Alycia Lane.
It appears that Mr. Mendte had perused the open email account of Ms. lane and then viewed the emails for days and months after obtaining her password both without her permission, which is a federal crime....
Didn't East Side Dave view the emails of Earl Douglas without his permission???? I would think Dave's activity is most certainly illegal. It's an invasion of privacy, without consent. If it's not a criminal violation (which it may well be), it's at the least a civil violation.

Completely different issues. Mendte [allegedly] got into Lane's email account and sent copies of incriminating emails to management and media outlets (and I think the cops, although I can't back that up). It could be seen as a major violation in many areas (corporate policy, legal, etc).
Although what Dave did was not smart or acceptable, it is nowhere near what Mendte did. Dave was just being a busy-body.

Difference:
Earl left his computer open and unattended.
Mendte put a keylogger on Alycia's computer and found out her passwords and hacked it. That's where the "crime" is coming from. Mendte got into Alycia's personal information email. Dave was in Earl's work account.
Nice try though.

i don't think a judge would put Dave away, he would get off on an insanity plea as soon as he walked into the court room.

I believe bestiality is a crime. ESD has mentioned getting rid of Strummer. Is he afraid the dog will reveal his secret? Check the dog for peanut butter breath.
