I agree, but I don't like to be lumped in with that just as Knoxy wouldn't appreciate being accused of sleeping with his sister. Fargo is one of my favorites, but they did stretch it a bit, which may have made it better, but bad for me.

It's not so much hygeine at the buffets as it is the way that food congeals and/or dries out as it sits under heat lamps. Eww.

I think that was the restaurant in the movie. I've eaten at the Bonanza in Brainerd. My Grandpa got cut off from the all you can eat shrimp. He threw a big fit and we got 86'ed.

Silly Knox. That's why you have to time your visit just right. You don't just show up at 3 in the afternoon. Also, you have to develop stalking skills and hit the stuff as they bring it out fresh. Eating at a buffet is an artform.

And I'd have the chicken noodle soup before (because I wasn't a salad person), and dessert would be the chocolate pudding that sat out, or the ice cream from the ice cream machine.

Looks like they were two separate franchises (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonanza_Steakhouse)that later were merged together.

I don't know if one stole the idea from the other, or it was parallel thinking.

We ate in a Bonanza in Pocomoke City on the Easter Shore on time when I was little. It was great, and we ate at ones elsewhere and it was never the same. So it goes.

We go down to Potowotomi bingo casino in Milwaukee for the excellent buffet there! A bit pricey compared to Ponderosa. Olde Country Buffet isn't bad but stay away from Golden Palace.
I wanted to comment on Chicago being the top sports city.
The only major college football team in the metro area is Northwestern, Big Ten football & they never sell out their games. We Wisconsin fans buy up half the stadium when we play down there. Ryan field is a great oldtime football stadium though!
The Bears usually have season tickets for sale, unlike the Packers who have 50,000 on a waiting list! You will see many fans wearing Green & Gold when the Pack plays in Chi.
The Cubs do draw very well but the White Sox are only around 29,000 average this season with a first place team!
No sure if the Bulls still sell out their games & the Blackhawks have a small core fan base & thats about it.
No way I would put Chicago among the elite as far as fan support.
