I proofread a lot of prospectuses and semi- and annual reports for major financial houses like Fidelity, Dreyfus, Delaware, Van Kampen, Merrill Lynch, Franklin Templeton. etc. Tonight I proofread the Franklin Templeton semi-annual report for

Dragon Fund, Inc.

It's an international fund, based in, you guessed it, Asia.

I wanted to look up the prospectus but the FT site is down for maintenance.

From what I could tell it's doing really well. If it costs more than $3500 to invest in it then I may pass. (if it was tanking I wouldn't consider it. DO NOT TAKE FINANCIAL ADVICE FROM ME!!! I have NONE to offer!!!)

BTW-- can this be considered a conflict of interest? I'm thinking not since it's just a semi-annual report.

I love their slogan;

The Dragon Fund. Money for dragons.

This fund is not a mutual fund per se -- it's a closed end fund, which is a little different. It's shares trade on the NYSE, you don't buy them from the fund itself. As such, there's no minimum investment, you just have to pay the market price per share (plus your broker's commission). Looks like the last closing price was $25/share. When you want to sell the shares of a closed end fund, you also don't redeem them directly from the fund -- rather you'd sell them to somebody else on the NYSE.

After the last eclipse I noticed my money was gone the next day. When I inquired they told me the dragon ate the moon and my money.

So check the lunar cycle before you invest.

it is close to its 52 week low, but with the dollar gaining strength it might not be the best time to pick it up

I wouldn't go with them. "How's your fund doing?" "Its Drag-on, gee-gee-geeee"

God forbid I pay attention to these things.......

Those are good points, but I like the cool name argument.

Yeah, I went to the FT site today and saw it was a closed-end fund and not sold to the public through FT.

Most of my money is in mutual funds. I've never dealt with stocks outright. Do I need a broker or can I just buy them myself?

But, really, the name kicks ass. Am I right?

Sure thing, I'll get right on that. I'm going to endorse the check as I.C. Weiner. That's my corporate name.

Is this a new nickname for the vag?

"Her baby wallet wasn't the same after having given birth"
"I like a baby wallet with thick juicy meat curtains"
"There's nothing like burying your face in some 18 year old baby wallet"

It might work.
