no, it was not slimy, the tree frogs are slimy. this was an ordinary toad..a small brownish one. i think he saw me b4 i saw him and he was trying move. he blended in with the mulch, that's why i didn't see him. i will get a braver soul than i to relocate him so that doesn't happen again.

Where I live they already have said that women of child bearing age should not eat anything that comes from our waters on the island. And no fish for children or pregnant women. So I'll pass. I wonder if it also applies to shellfish?

I'm really well read on the subject as it applies to my work as a union safety officer. The real problem with mercury is that the problems that develop often take years and years of exposure to manifest. My personal opinion: everything is bad for ya, can kill ya just enjoy doing whatever you like and don't worry about death and pain so much.

It depends on environment, food, population, etc. Some fish stop at a certain age, some like catfish can grow to the size of your bathtub.

ive never been to a drive in.They were great. Perfect for families with kids. Put them in pajamas, bring some blankets and pillows and they can fall asleep in the car and not bother other patrons.
We used to bring lawn chairs with us and coolers and sit outside the cars when it was really hot. We'd get a huge group of people together. It ruled.

i know a hoarder, she has no paths or anything like that, but she's got a really twisted affection for "things". it's irritating and sad @ the same time. i only cleaned her house out once, and it was bad...expired food in the fridge, freezer and cupboards. that skeeved me.

the worst was yet to come tho....i threw out a really old blanket that was in the small garage office. a cat had pooped and peed on it. she dumpster dived and got it back. that's when i walked away from helping her.

we still talk, she has gotten therapy and meds for this condition. no real progress that i can see. she still has a weird affection for objects...i can't relate to that. i have affection for living things. maybe i'm the weird one .

my friend and I go to the Westbury theaters qite a bit, I pass the two in Farmingdale all the time but never been to either. the small one, on the west side of 110, annoys me because it fills up the parking lot for the Starbuck next to it. :wallbash:

That's what we used to do at school. Drive up to starbuck's during a break, drive thru, then back to campus. Though the coffee house on campus was pretty decent, just closed at wacky times.

i noticed that my 11 miles on a country road to get to civilization is no longer a country road. it's now subdivision and strip mall hell. :(

and my lil hole in the grocery store is closing..the place i go when i can't be bothered with walmart rednecks

The new mentality with builders is "if we build it, they will come". Of course that is why all these builders are going belly up. No leases being signed means no money. They will learn their lesson eventually.

Disgusting. It's the same where we are. What little land is left gets cemented over for a strip mall or office building that will sit empty just like the half empty buildings around it.

my mothers side of the family all move down there about 25 years ago, because of the booming economy down there. now at least half of them are out of work

ya know how i recycle now? i put it out on the curb...someone always thinks i have nifty castoffs :laugh: my last curb job? art supplies the kids outgrew..i packaged it up real purty and in 10 min a mom in a mini van was getting buckets of crayons and coloring books :thumbup:

they all started off in the Peach Tree City area, then started migrating throughout the state when the jobs started going away.

Same with Mike's family! His parents still sound like us, but his sister picked it up. Mike's nephew that grew up here till he was about 9 never picked the accent up though, go figure. And of course his nephew's and niece that were born down there have the accent. It was so funny when they were really little hearing them talk. :laugh:

Pour some vinegar down your sink drains. Maybe some baking soda first, then a bit of vinegar. They come up through the sewer pipes. I speak from experience.

the only thing i can think of with rotting fruit is waiting for the yellow plantains to sweeten. the more blackened and shriveled, the sweeter they are.
