it was a good loss

a lil humble pie

all is not lost we'll still have a 2 game lead in the division if dallas holds on and wins
and we play them next week

plus this way it makes our last 3 games mean something, if we clinched everything today then we would fall into what the patriots did last year .... complacency

now next week the dallas games means a lot more, as does the carolina game who if they win out ( 1 game against us) they can get homefield advantage which if that happens makes that last game against minnesota mean something

this all works perfectly in the favor of the giants who were prob believing their own hype and this knocks them down a peg like the loss to cleveland

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs left Sunday's loss to the Eagles with an injury to his left knee.

Jacobs was hurt after a 5-yard run in the third quarter and walked off the field without a limp after getting medical attention. He also injured his left knee against Baltimore on Nov. 9 and missed the following week's game in Arizona.

The Giants also lost cornerback Aaron Ross with an ankle injury. He went to the locker room for X-rays and did not return.

"Brandon, it hopefully is not going to be anything big," coach Tom Coughlin said of his star running back.

They got their ass kicked. Obviously, the Giants could afford to lose that game, but if I'm them, I don't think I would want to see the Eagles again this season.

Even that game earlier this year could have gone either way. Eagles are the biggest potential threat to the Giants in the NFC right now.

...now, hopefully Donovan doesn't 'lose his smile' again.

giants were up 36-24 with less than 9 minutes to go and giants were playing somewhat prevent defense that allowed that last score

Agreed, and this was a perfect example of where losing Plax hurts.

Plaxico always kills the Eagles. I counted at least 5-6 balls that were dropped by receivers that really killed drives for the Giants today.

One or two of those being caught could have changed the entire momentum of that game.

The Giants without Plaxico are significantly more beatable...at least for the Eagles.

Even the threat of him would have changed that game.

The 'threat' of Amani Toomer isn't enough to scare any secondary. That allowed the Eagles to play up on the run all day.

Hey relax. It was actually a good loss for the Giants. They didn't need to win it so of course they were gonna' lose it. The Eagles just happened to be in the right place at the right time. This all works perfectly in the favor of the Giants who were probably believing their own hype and this knocks them down a peg like the loss to Cleveland. You just got to be the team that served them a piece of humble pie that they had already ordered up.

Oh and Plaxico not being on the field only benefits the Eagles team, no other.

esp that bomb hixon dropped

the dropped passes did more than any eagles run defense, the giants were still running pretty good but with the dropped passes and the wind messing up any deep passes it allowed them to play up

at least the eagles changed up early and didnt try to go long and kept dinking and dunking

Dropped passes, terrible game plan, couldn't get to the quarterback. that is why they lost. Giants were out of their game, plus stupid penalties. 2 games this season they have played sloppy and they lost both. I waa at the game, and they could not get anything going and the crowd could not get into it.. weird weird game

Plax hasn't done shit all year, and Hixon's drop just killed any momentum they were hoping to get that game. I mean, Christ the ball was right on the fucking numbers

They still got the division and they'll roll all over the Cowboys who won't have Barber, Witten's banged up, and that's just among the least of that team's problems.

Aside from hating ever losing to a division rival, I am especially annoyed by this piss poor performance because now all we are gonna hear from the broadcasters and the Burress apologists is how he's such a game breaker and that we lost because he wasn't in the lineup.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Burress in my opinion is totally overrated. He is a lazy fuck who makes no effort to go after a ball unless it's put directly into his hands and if it weren't for the fact that he is 6+" taller than most defenders, he would never have the success that he has had so far in his career.

I'm sure people will look at that Hixon drop and say "Burress would have caught that." Umm, that would require Burress actually making the effort to burn someone downfield first which he usually doesn't care to bother doing, especially on this bum leg he's had for 2 fucking seasons now.

I must have gotten five emails today from various retailers trying to sell me this crap. Seriously, who are the mamalukes who waste their cash on this shit? I won't even waste my time and money on the Conference Champion stuff. I'll maybe get some Super Bowl Champion merchandise if they win. At least then I'll get a year's worth of use out of it. And last year I didn't even get that.

Can you imagine the shmoe walking around wearing a Seattle Seahawks 2007 NFC West Division Champions shirt on?

You've all said it all, I can't add more except I've gotten spoiled. It really sucks to watch a loss, especially that kind.

I'll be hearing the Cowboy/Giants preview all week on Dallas sports radio. The only thing that makes it better is the Boys loss. They were railing on Romo this morning.

I still don't have tickets and have gone the last 4 years to this game. Hopefully I'll be there.

CB Webster signs extension

http://www.giants.com/news/headlines/story.asp?story_id=33149

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - The Giants announced today that they have signed cornerback Corey Webster to a contract extension through the 2013 season.

The Giants signed CB Corey Webster to a contract extension on Sunday
Webster was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season.

“Corey has been a outstanding person and player in his short career for the Giants,” general manager Jerry Reese said. “We are very happy to get this deal done.”

A fourth-year pro from LSU, Webster has emerged as an outstanding shutdown corner this season. Entering tonight’s game here against the Dallas Cowboys, Webster had started every game at right cornerback and was tied with fellow cornerback Aaron Ross for the team lead with three interceptions (two against the Cowboys on Nov. 2). He also led the Giants with 21 pass breakups, 13 more than runner-up Ross. Webster had 43 tackles (31 solo), two tackles for losses, one sack and two forced fumbles.

“He really came into his own the latter part of last year,” Reese said “and that has carried over into the 2008 season, where he has shown that he is one of the top corners in the league.”

Webster joined the Giants as a second-round draft choice in 2005, the 43rd overall selection (the team did not have a first-round choice that year). He showed promise, but struggled at times in his first three seasons. But when Sam Madison suffered a sports hernia, Webster joined the starting lineup at the beginning of the playoffs last year.

Webster was outstanding throughout the Giants’ four-game championship run. He held Tampa Bay’s Joey Galloway to one catch in the NFC Wild Card Game. A week later, he had five tackles, broke up a pass and helped limit Dallas to 182 passing yards in the divisional playoff.

Webster made one of the most memorable plays in Giants history when he intercepted Brett Favre in overtime of the NFC Championship Game, setting up Lawrence Tynes’ game-winning field goal. In Super Bowl XLII, Webster knocked down Tom Brady’s first desperation pass to Randy Moss in the final seconds. He helped limit Moss to five mostly-harmless catches.

I had a bad feeling about this and unfortunately it was right.

I do not want to hear one person try to glorify Burress and make him look like a savior when it's clear as day that our problems lie in the fact that Jacobs is what makes this offense churn. The past two weeks clearly proves that.

If he is seriously hurt, then we are fucked.

You are right. I was just so annoyed at yet another person defending Plax last night that I wasn't thinking straight when I wrote that.

Thug was definitely not the right word to go for (aside from in reference to Irvin). Should have said loud mouth assholes that they all belong to the same group.

It just annoys me that they still try to justify Burress' behavior (don't even get me started on what Joey Porter said) and are blind to what we all see. We had problems the last two weeks because Jacobs wasn't healthy. We saw the track we got back on last night. Hell, even Hixon stepped up and to me proved even more how little we need Plax.

Eh, his D was not nearly as good this year without that 2nd big time DE. They got zero pressure on Qbs after the steeler game. Tuck got tired and ran out of gas. Kiwi wasn't good enough to take advantage of Tucks double and tripple teams. You can have all the schemes you wan't, its all about the players. Osi will be back, Tuck will be fresher because Osi will get the attention. Sign a good LB and we will be perfectly fine on D. I am OK if is Capers.

It would if you have a shut down D and the running game they do. Rothlisberger does jack for his team. That team wins with D and ball control.

Ask the 2000 Baltimore Ravens or the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs.

They won with Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson at QB.

If you can run the shit out of the ball and you have an amazing defense, you don't need a superstar at quarterback.

If you don't have a WR (like Burress) to open up the offense and make the defense commit a safety to help cover that WR, the defense can commit an extra defender to the run. Also the defense will be adjusting to a new coordinator, so let's see how that works out.

I was in Vegas watching the game. And it seemed like there were alot of Eagles fans there or people that bet on them at least.

Marino would have won five superbowls, if all you needed was a qb. He never had the D or the running game. Granted the lack of running game was him being selfish by not letting it develop because he wanted to be the man, and break passing records.

Bill Sheridan named D. Coordinaor
By Michael Eisen, Giants.com

JANUARY 19, 2009

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Tom Coughlin today moved swiftly and stayed in-house to fill an important vacancy on his coaching staff when he named Bill Sheridan as the Giants’ new defensive coordinator.

Linebackers Coach Bill Sheridan was named Defensive Coordinator on Monday
Sheridan, who turns 50 on Jan. 27, has been the team’s linebackers coach for the past four seasons. He succeeds Steve Spagnuolo, who is being introduced today as the St. Louis Rams’ new head coach. Spagnuolo was the Giants’ defensive coordinator for two years.

The Giants have been to the playoffs in each of Sheridan’s four seasons with the team.

“Bill is a very good football coach,” Coughlin said. “He does an excellent job of teaching, of reinforcing what we aspire to be with our defensive team. He’s coached our linebackers, he’s given a big assist to Steve in all that he has done. As a linebackers coach, you’re a central figure in the spoke, because you’re involved in the coordination of the front and the linebackers and then the back seven. He has done a good job of encompassing the entire defense and grasping the aggressive style.”

this video doesnt represent the opinions of all giants fans

only this fat sausage link hands pussy crybaby

was i upset we didnt get back to the super bowl, yes

but in my view the giants have a 3-5 yr window where whatever happens, happens ... but they still won the one they did last year, after about that time the nostalgia wears off and its time to move on, until then i can enjoy the title from last year

he acts exactly like every Giants fan I've ever known. this is no surprise to me.

Oh stop it. Pats fans find every excuse in the book of why thier team got beat. Either they got hosed, the other team was lucky, its never that you guys just lost. You had some gay ass petition last year after you lost to the Giants. I forget what it was about, but it got trashed and made fun of.

Eagles have never given Eagle fans a chance to take winning a SB for granted. Successful franchise talk here, junior.

i also have no idea about this petition you're talking about.

A ham and egger received caught a ball on his fucking head and a normally sure handed CB (Samual) dropped a gimmie INT that could have sealed the deal. The Giants played very well and won fair and square but there was some luck there

Hell the Sox had allot of luck in 04 if Tony Clarkes GRD stays in play the Yanks would have swept

We should probably have an off season thread by now but I'm too lazy.

I just wanted to pose a discussion question for Giants fans. If TO gets released by the Boys, would you be open to signing him to a short term deal? (I don't know anything about the contracts and what can actually be done, just pretend it can happen please.)

We really need some experienced receivers, especially if Plax will not be back and if Amani wants out, he's not too old yet. Discuss.

And if he does, will disney become a fellow Big Blue fan? One can only hope.

No thanks
Hes past his prime, he drops passes and he's a cancer. Receivers are out there.
