shocked this wasn't a poll already (maybe gvac was right). myself, i wanted to love the bit, but it stank and wasn't ironic. what say you?

I didn't love it but I think it has potential. It shoulda been done live.

Pepper was the problem, his overacted forced lines always ruin the produced pieces for me. Sounds too college radio.

When Fez comes up with a new bit, I'll have something to compare it with.

I don't think people realize how hard it is to write something EVEN quasi-funny.

***A lot of the posters here are reactionaries...

It's MUCH easier than creating anything new***

Dave nailed it, and the character has far more potential than anything he's done before.

I only say this because Dave's good for about three shots.

After that, the characters run out of material.

It's all formula. A BAD concoction, really.

I just wish he wouldn't choose such a specific/limited character.

The new new one isn't much different, but at least there are more talking points.

Don't argue with me, I'll bite off your man tits, Fat Boy.

if no one objects, this probably should have been a public poll. if some mod could change that it would be super.

I say trash...just so we don't get fezzy upset and get another one of those shows...

Dave stick to guy guyerson and Board Gossip. They rule.

Glad Dave is back and can't wait until everyone on here is bored with him again.

I've changed my disoriented mind.

Thank you, Mr. Teeth.

I voted trash, even though I don't think it was that bad. I just don't think it can be a reoccurring bit. A one-hitter quitter, if you will.

I'm with Fez on this one... Stinks worse than Ron White's barstool.

I think that if he was trying to say the redneck/cable guy acts are hack and dont make any sense, and that those audiences will laugh at anything (even at the wrong spots, which I thought was intentional on Dave's part) he did so very well. I voted smash because I think thats what he was attempting to do.

I would not want to see it as a recurring character however, kinda like how his tax comic was making fun of bad standups everywhere; funny, but not funny enough to stand alone.

Oh, Chris...

You put things so well.

Agreed.

I think the jokes weren't bad enough to be ironic or good enough to be good. TRASH.

Did you HEAR the Rider on Friday's show?!

He was going through the motions.

Absolutely loved it.

Openly making fun of the rednecks of comedy w/ great bad jokes worked for me. The spots for the laugh track were off but whatever, I think fez was completely off thinking this wasnt good enough to run.

Need to work on "Let it be known"

Love the concept. Hate the catch phrase.

Hating the catch phrase is the best part of the bit. It is equally as awful as "Get 'er done!"

Big SMASH!

Dave tries to create stuff.
I look forward to the energy creativity and enthusiasm Mooch usually brings to the guys.

I thought it was okay. I liked Dave as the hacky Turbo Tax comedian better. Maybe Davey red would work better as something coming back from break, but only with fewer jokes.

i loved it, and i think the occasional "written produced bit" is worth being on the air, even if they bomb from time to time. I think they should be encouraged

I'm amazed there is even a contest. Davey Red was funny as hell and has potential. Who else on the show is coming up with new characters? it is so great having ESD back on the show.

I agree. I SOOOO miss all the produced pieces like the Fezatorials, Pants Puppet, Gum Shoe Gang...any kind of production piece is okay by me. They won't all hit, but thats fine.

BTW, Davie Red was great.

Fez got his feelings hurt because his "Fez knows nothing about the economy" wasn't funny, but i can't think of any Fezatorial or "Catty Moments" that i didn't laugh at

Dave is the only one besides Ron who is actually pushing the show forward. Bring on Davey Red and many more bits and characters. I'd start calling the show the Ron&ESD Show.

GreatAmericanZero

I think Fez still plays a way important part in the show..more then people realize. I think his "downfall" adds such a huge absurdist aspect to the show that makes it one of the most unique and interesting radio shows ive ever heard. The reason i love R&F is because its Ron and an insane asylum, and the crazier Fez is, the more that aspect of the show is stronger

i like davey red about as much as i like a squirrel grabbing hold of one of my nuts and trying to store it away in its nest for the winter, and by that i mean to say that i did not like davey red very much at all!

let it be known!

(it was great in its terribleness, i would love to cringe at more davey red)

Is Dave sure it was Ron White. I can't recall him having any catchphrases. Unless you count drinking scotch and smoking on stage as a catchphrase?

Love Fez Marie but Dave and Ronny B are the only ones pushing the show forward.

With that said I do enjoy the Fez updates/highjacking of topics and I love most produced bits...non earl bits of course.

I usually listen to the show in my car. I actually went online to listen and see if they aired the Davey Red bit, in spite of Fez's veto. (Sorry Fez, it don't make you a bad person...) I was not disappointed, i think it was decent enough to get exactly what it got, Smash or Trash. I'm curious to know if this is best off as a one-shot deal, or if this bit has legs.
